Sequels So MANY sequel set-ups!

WOW! It ain't over yet, folks! Man. . .they were really thinking of the sequel when they made this. First, Superman releases New Krypton into space. What the hell is gonna happen with that? Then, Lex and Kitty are stranded in that island. Oh, by the way, what is Superman gonna do without the crystals?!?! And, finally, Superman discovers that he's the father. What's gonna happen with that?

What else am I missing?

those are the worst sequel set-ups especially, the i am now superdad story.

Wrong! Theres alot of potential there and this movie proved that Singer can handle this is a great way. Very few other directors for comicbook film could have pulled this story off.

So theres definately hope.

The crystals will be tied to the next villian, I have a feeling. The knowlegde of Krypton will live on in another.....*cough* Brainiac

The next logical choice is Brainiac. Seems the most likely.

It has some to build off of. Of course Lois didnt leave Richard but you know she is still in love with Superman. Richard knows this too. I wonder what angle they will go with the eventual sequel.

I don't know about you guys but I thought the scene where Superman repeats his father's speech to Jason was very touching...

Yeah, I laughed after I left the theater, but I didn't appreciate the jokes DURING the movie.

But, anyway, back to sequel set-ups. I just thought of another one. Remember when Jimmy took a picture of Clark Kent? I wonder if that's gonna lead to something.

I say it should if you consider that since Superman doesn't hide his face at all I bet that some top of the line facial recognition software would have a high probability of identifying Superman if the also use all the pictures in news outlets and other sources since it seems almost no one in the world can seem to put two and two together. That has always been my biggest grip not about the movie but about the Superman mythos. It drives me nuts because it should be so obvious since Lois intereacts with both Clark and Superman so much. That does not bode well for her investigative reporting skills at all.

Superdad is an awful set-up. That's just one storyline that will really hurt the sequels they make, and that's why I think the whole kid thing is a mistake.

I have a gut feeling that the sequel won't have just Luthor, but I'm worried on the villian selection. I will tear my hair out if it's Zod. If that's the case, Superman Returns is to Superman the Movie, while SR 2 is to Superman 2.

Singer needs to step up and concentrate on making his own franchise, and honestly, Zod isn't the way to go. Metello...Brainaic, Bizarro, whatever would do, esp when you have to compete against (if they're good) Spider-Man 3 and Batman Begins 2's baddies.

I agree that Singer created a plotline where it could lead to a sequel cliche with the kid (My daddy is going to kick your INSERT EXPLOSION). He's not stupid, however.

Superman in any incarnation, but especially in SR, would find Lex pretty quickly.
