The Dark Knight
10/10
Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Christian Bale and Gary Oldman combine to make a modern masterpiece that captures the body and soul of the comic books. It goes beyond being a superhero movie and captures the mythological status of these characters. Beyond being good.
Batman Begins
9/10
A great insight into the beginings of the character and the casting of Murphy as The Scarecrow is absolutely inspired. From sets to the score, Batman Begins has it all. Let down only by Katie Holmes.
Batman '89
8/10
A powerhouse performance by Jack Nicholson and the sufficent casting of Keaton makes this an enjoyable movie. Burton's biggest failing was giving Jack an awful prosthetic to work with. And diluting the menace of The Joker with too many gag weapons and a toe-curingly bad dance number.
Batman Returns
6/10
Making The Penguin a deformed freak was an awful move and Burton turned Catwoman into a sex-crazed loon that no right minded person would sympathise with. All the same it has a great soundtrack and awesome sets. Plus, Christopher Walken makes the best out of a bad situation.
Batman And Robin
2/10
Given two points only because the main antagonists are worthless characters that no one gives a **** about. With the exception of Bane of course. Therefore any damage done was minimal.
Batman Forever
0/10
Thanks Joel, for turning Two-Face and The Riddler, two superb and complex villains, into Joker clones with a little Jervis Tetch thrown in there. I can even tolerate Batman and Robin more than this, a movie in which nothing is done right. Thank you Aaron Eckhart for giving us a true representation of Harvey Dent.
What possessed this man to misuse Tommy Lee Jones and im Carrey in that fashion? Did he not realise how talented those two are?
Absolutely silly. But sillier still is casting the eternally spaced out and gormless Val Kilmer as Batman. He conveys nothing to the audience. It's a wretched, filthy abortion of a movie.
Avoid like plague.
