So then....rate and rank every Batman movie

1. Batman 1989
2.Returns
3.Mask of Phantasm
4.Begins
5.Subzero

I have yet to see Dark Knight and I'd put it around 3 or 4. Sorry. Tim Burton rocks.

The Schumacher ****fest will not and should not appear on my list.
Batman '66 is better than them and I have that campfest!

lolz. How can you say you would put it around 3 or 4 when you haven't seen it?

"This craziness, it's too much"

How have you not seen The Dark Knight?!

^Well, to be fair, not apparently. Burton DOES rock. An incredible amount.

A rush of adrenaline and excitement accompanies every viewing I have of both his Batman films. They're both dazzingly gothic spectacles...and just excrutiatingly fun to watch again and again.

Seeing Batman for the first time in "89" ... seeing the Batmobile blaze through Axis Chemicals as it implodes...the Batwing in front of the moon.

And the gorgeous palette of "Returns" with all it's blacks and grays and whites with just a dash (a small dash) of Christmas.

And tell me that Danny Elfman theme doesn't get you jazzed when you hear it.

I was just shocked that someone on this board still hasn't seen "TDK" ...

Oh yea no doubt Burton's Bat films were awesome. I still enjoy watching them, but you can't say anything about a film if you haven't seen it, no matter what film it is.

Well I've been wanting to see it but things happened. Hopefully I see it on DVD but not for a while. Why you ask? Simple.....my mom's medical bills.

Good enough answer?

Agreed.

Oh I'm not criticizing you if familial issues, especially medical ones, were the reason. It's only logical.

Hope your mom is better and you'll be able to see "TDK" at least before the end of the year.

Then there's always the re-release next month...wow, can you believe that's almost here???

TDK > BB > MOTP >>> B89 > Subzero > MOTBW >> BR = BF > B&R

Burton = overrated

1. Mask of the Phantasm - a perfect blend of all that is Batman and a wonderful transition form the comics. After that:
2. The Dark Knight
3. Return of the Joker
4. Batman Begins
5. Batman Returns
6. Batman
7. Batman 66
8. Subzero
9. Mystery of the Batwoman
10. Batman Forever
11. Batman and Robin

1. The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Batman 10/10
2. Batman Returns 8.5/10
3. Batman Forever 6/10 from a fan standpoint 7/10 from just a observer
4. Batman and Robin 3/10

I appreciate Burton's work from a visual standpoint, and I loved Danny Elfman's score, but I do agree that as a storyteller he is overrated.

I may or may not have already done this

1) The Dark Knight 10/10
2) Batman Begins 9.5/10
3) Mask of the Phantasm 9/10
4) Batman Forever 7.5/10
5) Batman 6.5/10
6) Batman: Gotham Knight 6.5/10
7) Batman Returns 6/10
8) Batman & Robin 5.5/10

Good God, you put B89 behind BF?

I had a feeling I'd catch ***** for that one. I love the visuals and score of Batman 89, but not much else. I think the casting and acting are all weak, I think it's ineptly edited and shot, and I don't like the interpretations of Batman or the Joker.
Batman Forever, for all of it's cheesy over-the-top villains and bat-****, has stunning visuals, decent telling of the Robin origin, some decent acting, dynamic action sequences, and a good (albeit watered-down, flashy, and kid-oriented) telling of a batman story. I still adore the idea of Bruce Wayne dating a psychologist (a gorgeous Nicole Kidman, no less.) Additionally, the film is packed with Batman moments. (The unspoken understanding demonstrated by nods between Bruce and Alfred comes to mind)

I'm only going to count the modern day, live-action Bat-films so far:
1. The Dark Knight

2. Batman Begins

3. Batman '89

4. Batman Forever

5. Batman Returns

6. Batman & Robin

Live Action

1. The Dark Knight: *****
2. Batman Begins: ****
3. Batman (1989) and Batman Returns: ***
4. Batman Forever: **1/2
5: Batman & Robin: *

DCAU

1. Batman Beyond Return of the Joker (original cut): *****
2. Batman Mask of the Phantasm: ****
3. Batman & Mr. Freeze SubZero: **1/2
4. Batman Beyond Return of the Joker (2000 edited version): **
5. Batman Mystery of the Batwoman: *1/2

Batman Begins
Batman '89
The Dark Knight
Batman Returns
Batman Forever
Batman and Robin
