Comics So Tony Stark is also responsible for....

That doesn't make it any more interesting...

Earth's champions brainwashing Earth's greatest villains to take down some other of Earth's champions.

God, I hate Marvel.

God, I hate Marvel.

That's pretty much it.

Tony and Co. have teamed up with some of the deadliest murderers and villains out there to capture heroes.

Awful storytelling.

Well, Peter hasn't really been "himself" lately.

Speedball isn't going to bend over backwards for this. He's stubborn. He knows what happened was wrong but, he isn't willing to sell out to the goverment. Since the story began "Tony and comp" aren't "asking" people to sign up. There basically being forced. Either sign up or be jailed for the rest of your life. If you don't sign up..your either locked up in the negative zone or push comes to shove...you end up like "Goliath". Speedball has already admitted what happened was awful and terrible. He's being locked away because he hasn't registered yet.

It's almost like the actual "accident" doesn't even matter. Speedball is being beat down and abused because he hasn't registered yet.

I'm pretty sure he's being beat down because of Stamford, not because he hasn't registered.*
Besides, didn't Speedball lose his powers? Can you register with no powers?

in that case he would be classified as having DORMANT/inactive SUPERPOWERS:ninja:

Why don't they just have Tony kill infants and drink their blood already? He and Reed can have a baby-murdering party.

Thanks to your little witty remark, I had one of the most disturbing dreams last night. Thanks for scarring me for life!!:cmad: :cmad:

Yeah, I am so glad I'm not reading good superheroes be turned into evil sons of *****es.

this is just wrong. It's just worng. I wanted to say so much , rant rave, yeall and scream, but the only energy I cna muster is to say this is wrong.
You can't do that to these GREAT characters.
It's wrong.

you're right

I don't know if anybody picked up on this or not, I think this was in the last FL where Norman (who should be dead) Osborn has a meeting with a guy hidden in shadows who's supposedly behind a lot of the crap that's going on. I'm pretty sure it's Reed Richards, one because he's one of the few people who can come up with the Nano (whatever it was called) serum. But what really gave it away was the huge table between them. If you look in one of the panels where mystery guy is handing Norman the vial, it's right in front of them. Now either the guy crawled over the table to hand this to him, or he "stretched" his arm all the way over. Anybody have an idea why Reed would do this? Anyone disagree?

Beliefs in what... exactly? In doing what he wants, when he wants, with no accountability?

Actually they explain some of Speedball's reactions to the Stamford incident in the most recent issue of Civil War Frontline..[BLACKOUT]as he's rushed away in the ambulance he ponders what's happened and admits that it's his responsibility...and that he denied responsibility because if he had to admit he was responsible...he'd also have to admit that all his friends are dead....yeah it's a stretch but it at least humanized him a bit as opposed to constantly making him look like an idiot as the previous Frontlines had done[/BLACKOUT]

....sadly, for me at least, the past month of Civil War has really been taking a beaten with nonsensical story telling.....and to boot we get the first confrontation between Spidey and Iron Man that had about as much an emotional impact on the reader as any of Spidey's battles with other heroes in the past......you stretch the realm of disbelief to unmask him, then the payoff is the same old same old...*sigh*

.....oh and back to Pete being an idiot....."yes Pete they are staying in jail till they register......what did you think Stark and Reed were playing Billion Dollar call my bluff?""..

I gave up on Frontline. Didn't buy it this month, so thanks for the update.

Although... to tell the truth... I'm suddenly bored to tears with the Civil War. I just am. Quite frankly don't give two flying flips about it and can't wait for it to be over.

May-be I just don't like "team-up" books, when I'm reading for Spider-Man and it's shaping up to be a poor Spidey story... I don't know... but he thrill is gone and I don't care enough to even try and figure out why I feel this way.

*shrugs*

I DO hope things improve... Spidey is still my favorite character...

I wasn't interested to begin with, myself. I am just sick of all these crossovers and events and wish Marvel and DC would just get back to traditional storytelling.

I like crossovers when they don't mischaracterise everyone. Sadly, despite the character assassinations in CW its pretty good.
Theres really only three people out of character IMO.
Reed Richards
MaryJane
AuntMay

I've contributed how Spidermans been acting lately to the aftermath of The Other story arc. I'm not sure about him coming back more man than Spider, but he definately came back different. The Other made him a whole different character(not like that was a good thing though.)

I think there's a reason why certain characters are being mischaracterized (i.e Iron man and reed). Although I dont agree with it i think Marvel feels compelled to make a "bad guy" out of the situation. Think about it, so far civil war has made it pretty obvious that we're "supposed" to root for anti-registration group instead of pro-reg. But in order to make us root for them they need to make charcters like reed and tony more sinister so that we despise them. Normally, i think reed especially would be against this super hero law but they're forcing his character to agree with it.

As for tony, its easy to make him look like the bad guy, he just so happens to already "look" like a villain. The black hair and moustache, you know what i mean...I dunno, while i dont agree with these mischaracterisations, i suppose its necessary for a story like this to work. Like all super hero stories there's going to be a resolution where one side wins, the "right" side. The side we rooted for. It wouldn't work if we rooted for both sides so they're needs to be some inbalance.

There lies the problem, character destruction to fit the story... Marvel's been doing a lot of this lately... mostly in spideybooks... but, it doesn't matter where it's done... it's wrong to bend the character's will, to fit a story...
The sides... It was kind of a duh! that most people would side with the anti-reg... cause they were making the pro-regs into jerks... so much for the "there is no right side"...

TONY and REED being evil bastards... Tony was easier to make into an evil bastard... He's always looking out for numero uno... himself... he's been a prick before, and the armor wars don't help him much...
Reed's mischaracterization parctically makes Doctor Doom look like a freaking nun here...

I'm in the same boat...I wonder how much the delays have played a part in my growing disinterest in this arc? Personally for me, it's like I'm forced to swallow a lot of bad characterization and severe "suspension of disbelief" in order to enjoy what appears to be an arc that's heading for mediocrity at best......the lesser known Annihilation arc is absolutely blowing Civil War off the map in my opinion....

...but as you said, Spidey is by far my fave character...I think I'll simply wait patiently for the eventual "Other" retcon.....I'd include a "Sins Past" retcon but it's so easy to pretend that piece of trash isn't canon that it's been rendered absolutely irrelevant.....it's hard to forget the "Other" when Spidey's still shooting stingers out of his wrist!

Exactly.

Aside... with Spidey proving a poor diversion, my attention and free time has turned to enjoying past seasons of Smallville. I had never watched that show before, but during a conversation about Superman Returns, my boss said SV was much better and a no miss show for him. Curious, I rented season one and have now watched my way through season three... loving it! (Figures, since the writers had a hand in SM2 and Jeph Loeb contributes) Some episodes are better than others, but there are NO bad stories as long as Clark (Tom Welling) has screen time... he is SO delicious I could watch him read a book for two hours and think, GOOD show!

I hate how Stark is being wrote as more and more of a dick in each Civil War Issue. I was with him in the begining but now I'm just like "WTF???"

Aloha,
People tend to forget that Tony Stark is a multi billionaire industrialist. What does that mean? That he's a pacifist and a wimp? He made his money off of weapons contracts with the governement from day one. He has to side with the government when it comes to super hero policies. For him it's a win win. It's good business and it makes him the leader of the governement super heroes. His playboy public image, has always masked his darker and ruthless side.He is a genius and recovering alcoholic. When Civil War is over- I wouldn't be surprised if he feel off the wagon. Now I see why that got Robert Downey Jr to play him in the movies.
