I usually say Pop, but I'll say soda. I hate when people call non Coke drinks, like say Mountain Dew, Coke though. THAT'S NOT COKE DAMNIT!

I've never heard of a "popsicle" or "frozzen pop"...

Seriously, what are they?

Put some purple drank in an ice tray. Lay a toothpick up right in each section. Freeze said purple drank. Once frozen, eat said purple drank. . . now a purple popsicle.

Interesting...

while it's interesting that the word was divided from Soda Pop ... and split randomly at different parts of the country... some say soda, some day pop. I grew up calling it pop in ohio... but in los angeles i gotta go by soda or people look at me weird....

anywho... those who call all types of "soda pop" Coke... just sound completely ignorant. And that's the one that bother's me the most... Coke is a brand name.. not all carbonated drinks

You must not have travelled much. Everyone I know, except for those raised in the mid-west, calls it by it's proper name.

both parties "soda" and "pop" callers are both equally right.. considering the word was literally divide from the term "soda pop" sooo..... if you want to get mad at anyone.. get mad at the "coke" callers... wtf is wrong with them?

I think you'll find that YOU guys murdered your OWN language.

yeah... it's interesting, when written language had to be standardized in type... truth be told. the person doing the printing just simply made it up and decided how to spell it. The english language ever since has been pretty fd up

I had a discussion with someone who uses the term "coke". I do not understand this at all. Rootbeer coke, orange coke.....coke coke??? lol

I know its weird, but if you were born and raised (at least) in Texas, I can't speak for the rest of the south.....that's what we call a soft drink....we call them all cokes....lol

I have no clue why....didn't really notice it until I was in college and started traveling around the country more...

yeah, one of my friends is from texas... and he for some odd reason finds it charming he grew up calling it coke... i just think it sounds ignorant :(

I don't know that its charming OR IGNORANT....:cmad::cmad::cmad::cwink:

But, that's what we call all soft drinks.... I'm lucky because when I ask for a coke, EVERYONE that knows me knows its a Coke Zero.....so I'm RIGHT....NOT IGNORANT.....:oldrazz:

Georgia calls them cokes because they started in Georgia.

Correct on both accounts. I grew up in Georgia, and whatever the soda was most people said "yeah. . I'll take a coke." Meanwhile, Mountain Dew was what was offered.

I'm kind of in your boat, Kel. I began to notice that all soft drinks were refered to as a brand and moreso one particular drink. I even tried to mix it up a bit: "yeah. . I'll take a pepsi," while what was offered was Sprite. When my friend said "all we have his coke," I knew I had to change up my word choice.

I've never used pop, yet have heard it used. I mostly use soda or cola.

I love Mello Yello, and its not sold in Texas.....I have to cross over into Louisiana to get it....

I can't stand Pepsi, and it seems that most of the far south states all serve Pepsi.....yuk.

That's odd, mostly Coke product here. I'm sure because Georgia is the motherland.

I'm a fan of Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper, and glad to see those drinks leave Pepsi. Although, earlier this summer Mello Yello released the pure sugar ML drinks, I was all over it.

****ing LOVE Mello Yello. :cmad:

I do too....anytime I visit friends in Tennessee I stock up. That stuff got me through college...lol Like Mountain Dew it has enough caffeine in to to equal about 7 Dr. Peppers....lol

One of the few charms of living in the south eastern part of Americaland is that no one born here says "pop." Rarely do I hear "Coke" as a universal term for various colas. The only time I've ever heard "pop" in real life is from someone born and raised in Washington. Everybody around her, including myself, ridiculed her for using the term.
