The thing is called soda and if you didnt know that well you're wrong

What do they call it in France?

Pop. I never understood that. I had a neighbor from Minnesota and one time he asked me if I wanted some pop, and I was like, hell no. Then I learned pop was soda and still didn't want it just because he called it pop.

Also, my Grandma calles it "so-dee"

"Sodee" is just a cute old folksy way of saying "soda." My grampa sometimes says "soderre."

What about Soder..or is that a brand in the DC universe?

Pop is derived from the name Soda Pop. Pop is the adjective and Soda the noun. You cannot refer to something by just the noun. For example, I don't call my shaving razor a shaving, I call it a razor.

Where the hell do I begin?

"Shaving razor." "Razor" is the noun. You refer to it by just the noun.

Just call it a Mr. Fizzy and be done with it.

except we speak english... not a language derived from Latin.. thus we don't put the noun before the adjective. Most other languages... like Spanish, would say "madre loco/mother crazy" rather than putting the adjective first like we do "crazy mother". We say "green grass" they say "grass green" We describe a noun before we say it.

Thus Soda would technically be the adjective and POP would be the noun (in our language. what kinda pop is it? soda pop. Which is of course also ridiculous because there arn't any other kinds of POP (i mean you could say Cherry Pop, or Grape Pop i guess... but it's still all "soda pop". And we of course also know there's all kinds of different Soda's.

Whenever I purchase a Jones Soda I scratch out the word and write in "Pop" with a Sharpie just because.

In the case of Soda Pop, the adjective follows the noun. If you just say "soda", people know what you're talking about. If you just say "pop", it can be many different things

um... soda can be many different things too... Baking Soda is completely different then Soda water. and both of those are different then Soda Pop

You left out "Fizzy drink"... but if I didnt say that, I'd say soda... or Coke... but I'd say "pop" last.

Next time you're in a fast food restaurant and you go up to the drink station to pour yourself a drink pour yourself a nice tall class of the liquid labeled "Soda Only" and tell me that's your delicious drink.

Soda is carbonated water.
Pop is flavored carbonated water.
Coke is a specific flavor of carbonated water.

^Exactly. It's also why in some area's they refer to the drink as Sodapop
