When I was a kid...50's.. 60's...Boston,Ma.....we called it tonic.

um... soda can be many different things too... Baking Soda is completely different then Soda water. and both of those are different then Soda Pop

If someone asks you for a tissue, do you give them tissue paper? Toilet tissue (ie toilet paper)? It's the exact same thing with soda.

only old people ask for Tissues... and if anyone has a Tissue on them... its usually a handkerchief (unless your an old lady and have your purse packed with them) otherwise when people ask for a tissue... they just want any form of tissue. You seriously going to tell me you've never blown or whiped your nose with Toilet Paper?

Way to make completely irrelevant points.

You ask someone for a tissue, it's assumed you mean a facial tissue. Not toilet paper.

If you ask someone for a napkin, they're not going to give you a sanitary napkin. If they do, they are a complete idiot and need to be punched in the face.

dude other people were saying the same things against you... it was way relevant.

are they going to give you a cloth or paper napkin? a paper tissue? or a handkerchief? point is, those are cases in which the person really doesn't care what they are asking for... in the case of Soda Pop, they are asking for a specific type of drink, often just stating the brand in which they want.

for instance, here in Ohio, i hear more people just simply say "can i have a Kleenex" which skips over the "paper or cloth" option, and they hand them a Kleenex tissue. This also brings up similar reasoning im sure why some areas call soda/pop "coke" but at the same time when asking for a tissue you're not consuming the product, and you don't really care if it's a brain name or not.

Yeah, I really don't care enough to argue this. Soda is right. Pop is wrong. The end.

When people say "Pop"...I feel like i'm in the deep south, and I need to clench my butt so I dont get forced to "squeeeel lika peeeg". :o

Oh you coastal elitists with your "soda" and your "hybrid cars" and your "Pinkberry."
