I must be the only one who likes the idea he reveals himself.

No, you're not. I like it as well, and so do many others. They just aren't voicing their opinions as much here....I wonder why. Heh.

For me, it's a mixed bag.

I think that this is a short-term storyline, very obviously. Having a public identity works well in the long-term for a character like Tony Star or Matt Murdock. I don't think it works so well in the long-term for Peter Parker, and by extension that means at some point the powers that be at Marvel are going to want to put the genie back in the bottle. Which means a crappy retcom in the near (2 - 3 years) future.

In the meantime though, I am so insanely excited for the stories that will spring out of this. JJJ's reaction, Flash Thompson's reaction, Doc Ock's reaction, and the inevitable fallout.

I'm excited to see those stories, except I know in 2 - 3 years' time the stories will be completely moot because nobody will remember. For that reason, I'd almost rather it never have happened, or at least happened in an alternate universe tale, because by the time this is done that's essentially what it'll be.

I think they'll leave Tony's identity public even after Peters secret is restored. Tonys public id works over in the Ultimate universe and would help create some much needed drama and pathos over in the regular.
