December 6, 2006 - Oscar nominee Heath Ledger has been inundated with questions about his upcoming role as The Joker in The Dark Knight while he's been out promoting his new film Candy.

Ledger views the Clown Prince of Crime as a "pure anarchist," according to MercuryNews.com. "I still feel like it's a character I've never done before, and I'm going to be donning a mask [figuratively]. I'm not really thinking about the commercial consequences. Maybe I should be. But at this point, it's just an exciting next step."

In other Bat-rumblings, Moviehole.net claims it has heard that Rachel McAdams (Wedding Crashers) is "linked to a certain role in the upcoming Batman sequel." Although the site doesn't say which role that may be, Batman-on-Film.com muses that perhaps it is Selina Kyle, a.k.a. the future Catwoman.

McAdams, it should be noted, starred in Red Eye opposite Cillian Murphy, who played the Scarecrow in Batman Begins. McAdams has also been linked with the female lead in Iron Man.
Finally, according to Show-and-Stay.co.uk, costume designer Gary Page (Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix) "will soon be working on the next Batman." The Independent adds that, "As the fabric buyer for the Batman sequel, (Page) is busy sourcing stretch fabrics for the outfit worn by the man in black, played by Christian Bale, buying only the very finest materials in Paris." Lindy Hemming remains the film's primary costume designer.

The Dark Knight begins filming in London this March.

Define irrational, if by irrational you mean two very talanted actress', one who would take the thunder away from the actual leads in the movie, and also herself has a string of flops she is riding on. Or another talented actress, who wouldn't overshadow anyone in TDK, and can indeed step into her own in pt 3 if the role calls for it, and has a string of good movies she is riding. Then I would say yes

I say Rachel Dawes. She should have been gotten the role to begin with. Her or Jennifer Connelly.

They're both pretty evenly talented, though to whoever it matters to, one does have an Oscar over the other. All the other variables you've mentioned are nothing but assumptions, so I don't really think that's fair to judge. The only thing left to compare is the visual similarity to the comic book character, at which point Jolie has over McAdams in spades.

I say Rachel Dawes. She should have been gotten the role to begin with. Her or Jennifer Connelly.

F**k no. No recasting at all costs. If they're so adament in having Rachel, then by all means bring Holmes back. I'll hate it, but I'd take it over useless recasting.
