Some Costume Info

Tuesday, December 12, 2006 - 10:07 AM, 6:27 PM Not too long ago, BOF was told that the Bat-suit for TDK would be “sleeker” than its predecessor and show how Bruce would make advancements to his gear. Well, an insider is back to offer a bit more insight into The Batman’s new threads.

Our guy tells us to look for a suit that’s “athletic” and be more “fabricky” -- if I can use that as a description. There will still be an element of the sculpted “body armor” on the suit, so don’t expect something totally rubber-free.

My take is that the suit is not going to look drasticly different from the one seen in BATMAN BEGINS. But one would expect Bruce Wayne to tweek and improve the suit, so we'll see that in TDK. Now, as far as The Joker is concerned…

We know that Heath Ledger's portrayal will be nothing like we've seen before on screen -- i.e Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson. Consequently, don't expect TDK's Joker to be "costumed" as we've seen in the past either. While he will still clearly look like and be The Joker, expect him to be "less cartoony," if you will. Our source told BOF, "[Since The Joker is] much more dark, sinister, and threatening [in TDK], his costume is very much going to reflect that."

Last week, several websites, namely my friends over at MOVIEHOLE.NET, mentioned that Rachel McAdams has been rumored for a part in TDK. McAdams was also said to be up for the role of "Pepper Potts" in IRON MAN. Well, according to McAdams fansite RACHELONLINE.NET, McAdams' publicist has shot down the IRON MAN rumor. What does this have to do with TDK? Probably nothing, but since 2007 is fast approaching, we'll find out soon enough...

Just speculating here, but IF McAdams does snag a role in TDK, what part will it be? What does this mean for the Rachel Dawes character and Katie Holmes returning?

What does everyone think?
I like the idea of a mix, but at the same time I hope they explain how he gets it well enough, he cant just keep borrowing all wayne enterprises stuff, people would put two and two together, when there missing said item and then batman shows with it, like ummmm the tumbler maybe.

:whatever:

Another mindless ingrate.

What exactly have you done for the Batfan community as of late, noob?

What I want to know is why he feels the need to start every single word with a capital letter.

The "fabricky suit" notion is gaining consistency through repeat reports. I´m guessing it´s gonna be more like a Spider-Man kinda suit, with a muscle suit behind something less rubbery, but still not entirely spandex either. Sounds interesting, especially now that liquid Kevlar has been developed.

I´m not a big fan of McAdams. Sure she looks allright, but there are other actresses her age who are capable of more solide acting performances.
Whoever it is, she might be playing (and I really don´t believe that she´ll take over the Dawes role from Holmes), I´m sure there are better choices out there...:csad:

Sounds great to me! Now heres hoping they nix the clasps & have the cape connect infront, tweek the cowl/neck(slimmer neck and head, perhaps slightly longer ears) and change the body suit's color to charcoal gray. :woot:

McAdams would be a poor choice for Selina Kyle. Shes not mysterious and dark enough, and IMO, not a good enough actress. Honestly the best choice is probably Rachel Weisz. Shes not as purely sexy as an Angelina Jolie or Kate Beckinsale but I think shes a much better actress than either one of them. Plus she has an air of sophistication both lack(as well as McAdams). Jolie comes across TOO sultry(not enough sophistication) IMO, and McAdams and Beckinsale are too light.

Weisz and the others may be too old for Selina (looking at Christians age)
The actress should be in her late 20ies, very early 30ies.
McAdams may fit that category but, as I posted above, has not the acting abilities.

Thank the comic movie making god. I'm getting a little sick of the rubber body "armor" look for Batman.

Now if they can only add a "touch of gray"...

Sounds great - it's a natural progression for Wayne to modify the suit. I'd like to see something along the lines of the Spider-man costumes but have it be more defined.

Why does Selina Kyle need to be the same age as Wayne? Does it say it somewhere in comics I haven't read?

Yeah, not a bulky armor but not a leotard either.

McAdams is better suited to either Vicki Vale or Julie Madison.

More likely Vicki Vale. Joker is going to be a big story in Gotham.

i'd take this at face value...think about what it says. some websites and friends say she's rumored. ftw! that doesn't mean anything.

as far as a costume with more fabric...i'm all for it. i know it won't look drastically different from the BB costume, but if it reduces "t3h PuFFY" and helps Bale move around easier then full steam ahead!

There's been an add-on to the Joker costume info:

He added, "It's not going to be a suit that is tailored for him, but more something he acquired. I mean, what tailor would actually make a suit for The Joker?"
Now, that's interesting.

The costume sound like it's going to be really flexiable which what I really want. Hopefully all this change includes the cowl as well.

As for McAdams, I don't really know what kind role she'll be up for if she is indeed to be in TDK.

If he 'acquires' it, that probably means he kills someone for it.

The question though is what 'it' is?

So no purple suit for Mr J? if in that case I prefer this:

The only thing I could come up with is the tux he had to wear as part of the Red Hood disguise but acquired suggests - as you said - that he steals it.

Maybe it's like with Marv in Sin City and he just stole it because he liked it.

The first thought that hit my head regarding this was...
'Nice coat!'

Even though it will not bear no relation whatsoever to the Jokers threads, it was the thought that hit me nonetheless.

hopefully the changes to the suit extend to the cowl, worst part of the BB suit IMO, I can't find it but if it was exactly like that drawing someone did in one of the suit threads (the head and shoulders one with the larger drawing of bale with the cowl down beside it) then I'd be more than happy

Least something, is this mean no rubber suit in TDk?

No, it means a suit more along the lines of Spider-man but more armor like.
