South Park - Part 1

After that #CancelSimpsons epilogue with Mr. Hankey going to Springfield and meeting Apu, he wrote on Twitter:

"Did @SouthPark just side with me? WHAT IS HAPPENING? #CancelTheSimpsons #PleaseDontThough"

He has since deleted that tweet.

I think a show that has long-running characters like Tuong Lu Kim is not on your side Hari Kondabolu.

It's been hilarious seeing people react to that episode. Seems some people don't know how to react when South Park focuses on these stories, since they don't want to trash the show but they are clearly at odds with it.

Some are even outright misinterpreting the gag and saying the show is taking a shot at Simpsons.

On the other hand, they clearly have had some self reflection over the past few years.

"We're Republicans." - Matt and Trey, at a recent Democratic event they were invited to. Should probably have tipped Hari off, in the longshot instance he's, you know, never watched their show that's been on the air since 1997.

Even that, I think Matt and Trey were probably just trolling those in attendance. I doubt they are legit Republicans or even conservatives. I mean they very well could be for some politicians and issues.

I think they just sort of like to go against the grain of some of the whackier liberal views they are probably bombarded with on a regular basis by Hollywood liberals in film and TV industry.

I mean I think there's an interesting idea that the ultra-liberal PC movement is philosophically the opposite of what the liberal movement was like back in the 1980s and 1990s.

In terms of "PC" and "woke" it's like liberals have become conservatives. It's a weird thing.

Just for example. In the late 80s, early 90s, it was hardcore conservatives that hated The Simpsons and wanted it taken off the air. Now it's PC liberals who are crusading against it.

I think that sort of irony is not lost on Parker and Stone.

Unlike Groening, though, they seem to have actually listened to criticism.

Compare the Mr/Mrs. Garrison storyline to the Lourde storyline.

I remember the Lorde storyline brilliantly stuck it to that Spin website reporter who accused the show of bullying Lorde when Randy Marsh posed as her for that kid's party. Some idiot writer took it seriously and tried to shame them for what was nothing more than a simple gag. And then they turned it into a whole meta storyline of a reporter investigating Marsh, who is in fact the actual Lorde.

Spin Magazine Investigation

"You understand we deal with a lot of fake stories at Spin."

"Lorde is an incredibly talented and down-to-earth young lady. It would be a shame if someone was having fun at her expense."

I think it started a little slow but it's definitely picked up

Wonder if this is a 2 parter or trilogy?

Good episode.

Oh hey, so Satan did show up after all.

Gonna say I half-guessed that one.

I also liked that Jimbo and Ned showed up in the last episode. They were recurring characters in the first few seasons but they’ve been showing up very rarely in recent years. This season really has given the spotlight to a few of the older characters.

With all these old characters showing up it almost feels like a good bye from the series. I haven't seen anything about their ending the show but it still feels like this might be it.

Jimbo & Ned?! Whoa, this season's on fire with the oldschool stuff, can't wait to see that one. :D

Loved the Halloween episode. "Scootin'." :applaudOh, Mackey.

They were renewed through 2019 so there'll be at least one more season after this and Matt & Trey have said they're game to keep going until they get cancelled, but I know what you mean.

Yeah, I can't see Trey & Matt wrapping it up for lack of ideas or a feeling the show's run its course. They probably felt that way like 8-9 years ago, they just keep doing it anyway, making **** up on the spot with that couple-of-days episode turnaround. :oldrazz:

Something fun always rears its ugly head to make fun of, culturally. Pretty much seems they'll keep going until Comedy Central gets sick of 'em or they cross any lines, which you'd figure that boat sailed years ago with the Muhammad stuff. They're not getting canned over controversies, and Trey & Matt seem happy to just **** around doing whatever, seems even if they're bored they'll just keep it going until they find something else to do with it that doesn't bore them.

It’s basically like SNL in that it’s so influenced by current events which keeps the show fresh compared to shows like The Simpsons and Family Guy which went stale long ago.

American Dad and Archer haven't :cmad::cmad::cmad::cmad:

Orville is good. American Dad is pretty good, though he isn't super involved in it.

So Manbearpig killed Satan...as much as you can kill Satan, anyway.

Until we got to the negotiation table, I was wondering if we'd see Jesus step up to fight Manbearpig in light of Satan losing.

I never thought I’d feel sad about watching Satan die, but here we are. Also, Stan’s grandpa had me dying with his story of Randy’s conception.

Am i the only one who noticed that parts of the fight were from the Incredible Hulk movie?
It had me giggling because it came completely out of nowhere and i realized it right away.

South Park as usual on a roll.
