Spawn Reboot | Blumhouse

A recent listing on Production Weekly has revealed that actor Jeremy Renner has been reportedly cast in the Spawn reboot movie. There are no other details regarding the character he will play.

Another piece of information we spotted revealed that SFX and makeup wizard Greg Nicotero is also on board the movie. The artist is well known for his works in the horror genre and has received multiple primetime nominations for his works in AMC’s The Walking Dead and has also won a Primetime Emmy in 2010 for Oustanding Prosthetic Makeup in the same TV series.

I was thinking possibly Kincaid or Hell maybe even violator. You could do worst for violator.

So this being the 2000s and with Black Panther being released, hopefully they can avoid whitewashing this film again like last time. Priest/Chapel I could understand, bu the rationale for changing Terry was inexcusable.

Maybe Renner is playing Clown and his CGI arms will play Violator.

Today, it was revealed that Avengers star Jeremy Renner has joined Todd McFarlane’s upcoming Spawn reboot. It has now been revealed by our friends over That Hashtag Show that he could be playing Twitch Williams. Williams is an honest detective who teams up with Spawn to help with the murder of his daughter. Star Jamie Foxx also appeared on Off Script alongside Jeremy Renner recently. The film is being produced by Blumhouse Studios.

Renner is like the last person I'd think of as Twitch. But if they give him the glasses and mustache, maybe.

To be fair though... McFarlane's art doesn't lend itself to casting anyone as being an exact copy looks wise. Look at Violator in clown form in the 90's film. Like it or not it was visually accurate... And looked totally dumb in live action. A "comic accurate" twitch would honestly be a bizarre looking human being.

Honestly, I could see it now and I'd be excited to see it despite not thinking of him for Twitch as all.

LOL Jeremy Renner is the bridesmaid of action movie franchises.

I just hope Clown is in this. And fingers crossed that Billy Kincaid is the main antagonist, he seems perfect for this storyline

He looked amazing. He was supposed to be repugnant and unsettling, which he was. :woot:

Yeah I think Spawn and Clown still hold up to this day apart from Spawn's cape. The makeup artists did a great job on that movie.

Eh... He just looked silly to me and John was trying for a Nicholson in Batman '89 thing that was just... I just found the whole proceedings bad.

How'd they get Jeremy Renner on a $10 million shoestring budget?

Renner is probably going to be killed off in The Avengers and isn't coming back to the M:I or Bourne franchises, so he needs something else to latch onto.

It's not 1990s anymore. Spawn isn't exactly much of a franchise right now.

Not right now, but if this movie is a hit, it could turn into one.

I'm not sure that it will turn out to be a hit, but anything is possible.

Seems to be a pretty big IF especially after the 1997 movie. And that's when Spawn was one of the biggest IPs on the planet.

Yeah, but maybe, just maybe there's a chance that Spawn could blow up again. Enough time has passed since the movie that I think people would be willing to give the character another shot. But only if this movie is good.

Again, that's a big IF given that McFarlane is directing.

I think a reasonable budget and an experienced director would do more for a Spawn movie than a guy who isn't a director doing it on a shoe-string budget with the main charcter being virtually absent from his own movie for most of it.

LOL well, when you put it that way...

But you're right. I know McFarlane is desperate to keep creative control but given that he's never directed anything before, it's a huge gamble. And I'm also not wild about the "boogeyman" approach to Spawn. But... we'll see.
