Pretty much...this movie is awesome. The acting, the story and script, and especially the visuals. This movie wows me everytime...Also, there BETTER BE A SEQUEL.

Mmmkay...

I liked it for what it was, the action, FX, and race scenes were great, but there is no getting around the lack of interest of the source material being what brought this down.

1. This thread will probably get merged with the first Speed Racer thread.
2. Everything before and after the Casa Cristo race ranged from mediocre to straight up doodoo.
3. More than likely, there won't be a sequel. The movie bombed and brought down the reputations of the Wachowski brothers even lower than the two Matrix sequels did. The Dark Knight saved WB from this bomb.

I loved the movie. Saw it twice in theaters. Felt it was great campy fun in the vein of the Adam West Batman show, in addition to having a lot of heart with the racer family.


but I don't feel a need for a sequel. It stands on it's own pretty well.

If they wanted to do a well known anime series with both a built in niche fan base as well as some mainstream brand recognition...

Speed Racer should NOT have been their Matrix follow up.

The Wachowskis and G-Force/Gatchaman were made for one another on so many levels.

I’ll forever be a Wachowski stan because of Sense 8, the first Matrix, V for Vendetta and Bound. When they make good content, they knock it out of the park.

That said, when they’re bad, they’re REALLY bad. Cloud Atlas was a mess. The Matrix sequels didn’t work. And I was never able to bring myself to watch this unholy mess; the trailers alone made me want to scream. Plus it had not one but TWO abusers of women as its hero characters (I know neither of them had done anything when the film came out but it certainly doesn’t make me want to give this film a shot now).
