Comics Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four

I loved the first issue, the art was great (as was to be expected) and the writing was sharp. I'm definitely looking forward to what shows up next issue.

Its a shame that books like these almost always end up flying under the radar.

Aloha,
I would agree. And I would also support, we the fans letting Marvel know when we like a particular Spidey story. This is what kept Spider-girl going, not a lot of negative CRAPTASTIC comments. That gets you no where.
Spidey rules in the positive

I am seriously hyped for this series! I read the firt issue, and it was, well, Fantastic! The artwork, the dialogue, the characters....everything was spot-on! No Civil War...No "Other"....it was great!!

I love ANYTHING concerning Spider-Man and Fantastic Four.

(Unless iit's a Fox/Tim Story adaption  )

Wait....no Civil War? No "Other"? How can I miss this?!

Thought the first issue was great. I'm extremely hyped for this series. I mean...come on now...Its Spidey and the Fantastic Four.

Teamups don't get any better then that.

Spidey's interaction with the Impossible Man and the scene with Torch/Thing were definitely worth my 2.99.

Heh, I liked when Spidey showed up at the Baxter building all beaten up:

"Silver guys want to take over the world... Made us watch a video"

This was such a welcome suprise. Light and funny and yet still so very Marvel.

More more more!

I thought it was great how the scenes with Impossible Man and Spidey were so funny and goofy and yet there was also a serious note that made the threat seem very real in the end. Funny and scary... very cool. :spidey:

I just hope our guy does well...

The second issue was great now that the story's getting moving. Johnny and Peter at Strange's was laugh-out-loud.

"Think of a Card!"

Really awesome, old school feel to Spidey and the FF. I think this guy would be great on Amazing Spider-Man after JMS leaves.

Aloha,
I'm loving this mini series. Part two was just as well written and drawn as one. I must have missed this but where within continuity does this take place?
Spidey rules

2nd issue was much better then the first. This just feels so freaking old school. I love it.

Spidey and Johnny teamed just works so well no matter who writes it. Sad its only 4 issues. Honestly I know it might sound weird but I wouldn't mind an ongoing Spider-man/Fantastic Four series. I'm pretty sure it won't happen, but if it did..I'd pick it up.

Jeff Parker is a truly horrible writer. From Marvel Adventures to X-Men First Class to this, it's near unreadable for me personally. Shame an artist as great as Wieringo is being wasted.

^^^

Different strokes I guess.

Personally, this is the best Spidey has been written for me in a LONG time.

I wouldn't mind an ongoing Spider-man/Fantastic Four series. I'm pretty sure it won't happen, but if it did..I'd pick it up.

An ongoing Spider-Man/Fantastic Four series?

With Parker writing?

Oh that would just be heaven.

I think it's pretty obvious from the solicit for issue 4 that Impossible Man will be back...and there'll be hell to pay.

Reed Richards is back, and so is someone else. And that someone is MAD. And not as charming as he was when we saw him last. Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four have figured out how to save the human race, but now they have to save the alien invaders as well!

The second issue was great too. Can't wait to see where they are going.

Hmm... suddenly I feel inspired to tell MARVEL how much I LOVE Jeff Parker. He's truly a great, classic writer for Spidey. I would love to read more of his stuff.

I love this series! When Spdiey gets that "4" put on his chest at the end of the issue, you can almost feel him geeking out! On top of that, it's just such an entertaining read! The humor is great, and not too over the top, and we haven't seen Peter do anythign out of character! It's like....it's like I woke up back in the 80's...or the 70s, for that matter!

I think its issue 3 but a certain Latverian Monarch makes his appearance :) :woot: :doom:

I bought the first issue and was going to buy the second but im shop sold out. Dang it I knew I should have put it on my pull list. Oh well I just go to Barnes and Nobles and buy it then. Need to burn that last bit of change off my gift card anyway.

My review from the brought/thought thread:

Damn I wish this book was ongoing.

Parker "gets" Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four which makes this crossover a real treat. The interaction between them is flawless, never missing a beat. Best of all, its nice to see a smart, intelligent and capable Spidey. If Slott and Parker took over Amazing I would be simply overjoyed.

There was plenty of good moments in this issue but the highlight was Spidey playing Doom like a fiddle.

Reed's exploration of the ruined planet revealed that the aliens don't do anything nefarious such as extermination their hosts or anything like that at their end of their "bonding". They simply depart, leaving behind a culture that's stagnated and has to pick up the meager pieces. A wonderfully executed idea.

I'm sad this this is ending in one issue but its been a real treat.
