Comics Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four

I really love Jeff Parker's writing style. It's a throwback to the good ol' days without being too dated. I'm loving this book so far as well. I just got #3...I still need to read it though.

Cap, if you liked this you should try his X-Men's: First Class which is actually a bit better than this. :) In fact the reason I read this was because I read X-Men: First Class and knew he'd be a good fit.

heh Spider-man is hands down the funniest character in Marvel.

"I knew that, I just wanted to make sure Doom did" lol

I'm loving the run and this style of writing. It really has that old school kind of feeling to it. It's a shame like someone else mentioned, that the book is coming to an end in one more issue. I would kill for an ongoing Spider-man/Fantastic Four series. My favorite hero and favorite team in an ongoing, that would be golden.

Heh Love that panel with Spidey telling Doom "Not even Reed figured it out". Everything was drawn perfectly in that panel. Sue keeping Johnny and Ben shut and Doom's reaction.

Hah, looked like he was salivating through that mask.

Yea, the comedic timing of that page was great.

Here's hoping Jeff Parker is one of the ASM writers. :)

My dream team right now would be

Dan Slott
Matt Fraction
Jeff Parker

Yeah... good to see Jeff Parker getting the love he deserves! I was way impressed with his Marvel Adventures Spider-Man story... like over a year ago. :yay:

I can't wait to find out what happened with Spidey there at the end...

From the Brought/Thought thread

Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four #4

This was a very enjoyable little mini-series. I haven't read much Spider-Man since The Other and Sins Past so its always a pleasure to read Spidey when I can. In this issue everything gets wrapped up nicely with everyone getting what they want more or less, which in a way is a relief so nobody was really the bad guy in this one.

The art was perfect for such a light romp, the highlight shots for me being the Thing knocking the Imperator up into the sky and the statue that was built in Spider-Man's honor

This would have been a wonderful little ongoing but I guess for something that was only made to cash in on the movies out this year that's expecting too much. Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun and kudos to Parker for weaving such an enjoyable story.

5/5

And that is why I wish my nearest comic shop wasn't 75 miles away.

You never know. A few years back Dan Slott wrote the Spidey/Torch mini series and soon became a fan favorite and a front-runner to take over from Strazynski...maybe Spider-Man/FF will do the same for Jeff.

I found the plot to be a little confusing as the story went on. I started out very intriqued but the last issue didn't exactly deliver on what the first had seemed to promise... But it was still an enjoyable read.

PRetty much the same way I felt.

THere didnt seem to be enough Spidey/Fantastic Four interaction. The story started out pretty interesting, but got a bit to complex as it progressed.

Still a fun read at times.

For those of you that don't leave the Spidey forum very often, it was reported on Newsarama that 'Ringo passed away Sunday :(

I'm in shock of the news, as I just read the last issue last night, and the first thing I see when I turn on my comp this morning is that 'Ringo has passed away :( :( I always loved his Spidey stuff...
