Haha man i got it. We're good.

I didn't think we were bad...:oldrazz:

Anyway, I'm not excited in the slightest bit for this game. A year of development is nothing...

Of course, when the first trailer comes out, I'll be praising it like an idiot monkey with a banana the size of Russia...

F**k you fanboyism...

It doesnt matter if you like those games or not, or find fun in those games or not, whats not debatable is that those title are well developed games. Rockstar has, on countless occasions, shown they are a top notch developer in this industry. They give their games the care and attention each one deserves. Its why they dont bang out a GTA every year, they, almost more than any other studio, care about the product they release. Again thats evidenced by the outstanding achievements in titles like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption and i have a hunch we will add LA Noire to that list shortly.

Now im not saying Rockstar is the only other studio that could handle Spidey, and im not saying Rockstar would ever want to take the Spidey license but there really is no argument that they wouldnt do Spider-Man justice when you look at their past performance. They are an extremely talented development team.

I think we all can agree just about anyone would be better suited to handle Spidey than Activision.

I agree, I think its about time a different developer handles Spider-Man. Activision needs to take a break, they also need to slow their roll on CoD. They might was well just name it Call of Duty 2K11, Call of Duty 2K12, etc since they one comes out almost every year

Oh i agree completely, i mean Rockstar doesnt really strike me as the "superhero" type. I just bring them up due to their stellar performance in giving players living, breathing open world titles, which many seem to think Spidey is best suited to.

that's one thing that I notice from them, they don't really mess with superhero games. Hopefully in the future they may take on a superhero game, hell I wouldn't be upset if it was an original concept and not a given DC or Marvel hero :awesome:

Knowing Activision they probably have a "Spider-Man game template" on their computers, comes with the following

-1 Spider-Man character model
-8 different pedestrians
-10 vehicle types
-replica of Manhattan
-mission maker
-10 different enemy models
-super-villain generator
-6 music tracks

lol
Well, I thought they would wait until the new movie's release to launch a game based on that. They really haven't learned from GH.

Something needs to replace it...

I don't see what their problem is, I know alot of us would want a Spider-Man game to garner the same success as Arkham Asylum. If they just keep the focus on Spidey, stop including multiple heroes to assist him, and villains that have reason to be in the game, the game would be successful. Just because Activision has rights to alot of Marvel heroes doesn't mean randomly throw them in for the sake of having them in the game.

EXACTLY! That was my beef with the forced hero appearances in Friend or Foe or Web of Shadows. They just are not necessary in a SPIDER-MAN game. Even the two non-Spidey villains from Shattered Dimensions at least had a precedent of fighting Spidey before.

I felt so engrossed in the game having Luke Cage tell me Spider-Man how to use my own damn powers :oldrazz:. Batman needed no one in Arkham Asylum, you took on 10-15 guys single handedly and he HAS NO POWERS, Spider-Man does practically everything a spider can yet he needs help from other heroes!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

i don't mind heroes and allies being in the story, as long as they serve a purpose. If the raft or something had a massive jail break and all of spider-man's villains escaped... i wouldn't expect him to go at it alone. Nor would i have expected him to take on "maximum carnage" alone.

Maybe not all of his rogues gallery, but he could most definately take out the Sinister Six, he did so in TSSM. I wouldn't mind seeing a game where he has to take them on, I think it would give everyone a good break away from the Symbiotes. Im still iffy on having other heroes in the game, to me they are just annoying, I also didn't like the tasks that they gave you in order to proceed to the next mission like beating up 145 thugs, or web strike 280 people, look...jus let me go from mission to mission and stop giving me these ******** tedious tasks, ****in busy work :cmad:

That's the reason why I lost interest in Saints Row, they need your help at the beginning of the game, you do missions successfully, you have to earn their respect to do more missions!?!?!?!? If you're not satisfied with my work then maybe you should find some****inbody else to do your dirty work, stupid gangster *****ebags

Batman was trapped INSIDE a prison filled with psychotic inmates and dude didnt even think to call for backup. Dude is also a normal human. Spider-Man can pick up a car, he doesnt need a team of heros to help him with much outside of a cosmic event.

The next Spider-Man game doesnt need a "world will end" scenario. Iv said it before and ill say it again, make the story personal to Spider-Man, no cosmic garbage. Have the villain be out to cause harm to Parker and his loved ones. make it personal. It worked it Arkham Asylum, it can work here.

i never said it was needed... or wanted. just say if it happens, i don't mind it if it makes sense.

Exactly, the Sinister Six could pose a threat, they don't all have to be in the same place, they can be spread out through the game, each of the villains in that group are some of Spider-Man's most dangerous enemies, some even know how to get to him personally. Adding in other heroes to assist him just show that the developers aren't confident that Spider-Man could carry the game on his own. If you take out the assist, it gives you an even better feeling of being Spider-Man, using your wit in order to succeed in battle or quick thinking to avoid obstacles and what not. Spider-Man has alot of abilities that give him the upper hand in alot of situations, we need a game that makes good use of all of his abilities.

Although, Spidey's villains are largely superpowered.

Anyway, other characters or heroes are hardly the problem, because Arkham Asylum also had Oracle and Gordon serving adequate purposes and AC has Catwoman. It's how they're used, whether they serve the story as a mission giver or something or if they're just randomly thrown in for fan service.

I would love a mission where you come across Daredevil fighting some dudes in Hells Kitchen and you do a series of missions with him, but not just as a plus 1 A.I. fighter, more as a mission giver and someone to have funny dialogue with all the way through missions.

I think one of the stand out additions to games in the last few years is constant dialogue over gameplay to drive story and character. Gears, Uncharted, Batman, hell, it was the best thing about the PoP reboot. Spidey is supposed to be one of the most talkative characters aside from Deadpool, so they should be either giving him someone to talk through during the whole game by earpiece or something just so the story can develop beyond random boss encounters and quips.

Thats not all that could be improved, but it just highlights to me that none of the devs of the last few Spidey games have actually looked at the rest of the industry, nor are they really exploring what game type and details most accurately suit Spider-Man.

Also, Rockstar isn't the ONLY developer could do it, but they're the best damn example of a developer that pours everything into an open world. It's more than just an empty space filled with buildings for you to muck around in, they fill it with all the details etc for you to be immersed as your character.

Rocksteady did that too with Batman, sure, but I think open world is purely the best format to showcase Spidey's talents and the fun of playing as him.

I don't know about you, but my favourite moment in any Spidey comic is when he's just webswinging around, with some funny dialogue or inner monologue, and he spots a robbery and just swings down with a web kick to interrupt it. Thats the essence of Spidey that I love, and I think thats significant to feeling like him. It's almost exactly the same as Batmans signature taking out an enemy from the shadows, or the 'I'm right here!" think he does.

There are so many things that are inherently Spidey that need to be portrayed and maybe 2 of them got adressed in SD... Quips, and perhaps the graphical look.

As disappointingly mediocre as the Spidey franchise has it, let's look at the bright side...at least it's doing better than Superman...or the majority of other super hero franchises. :cwink:

Again, that still doesn't really fill me with happiness. Looking at something comparitively doesn't make it better.

The next game will suck balls.

You can't possibly make a decent game in such a small time. Specially a freeroam one. It's just impossible.

Agreed. I mean, 2 Spider-Man games in less than a year apart. Kind of bunched up, if you ask me.

It's more than a year apart, SD came out in September and this will come out i Q4, so there is 12-14 months time apart.

It probably won't be freeroam, that would be suicide during such a short timespan.

I'm hopeful about this, I thought SD was gonna suck balls but it turned out pretty great in my opinion, although it was sometimes a bit rough around the edges. I mean they have some ground work to build upon this time so I won't write it of just yet.

You still can't make a good AAA game in this short span. Unless it's 2D or casual.

SD was repetitive bs. The concept was interesting but then they cut the corners and have you doing the exact same thing everywhere.

It probably won't be freeroam

Beenox hinted at it.
