I think wolvieboys point over rules yours

Or you're both right? Or wrong?

we're both right.

while electricity can produce extreme heat and thus hurt a symbiote... some symbiotes may have some or enough immunity to house electro.

But you have to remember, just because electricity CAN produce electricity doesn't mean it is fire. It would have to be at the level of power to make fire to actually hurt the symbiote. Electro was not only hurt but not charging up any power. The symbiote was not affected.

THERE! CASE. CLOSED. Back to the game...

I'm hoping this game at least gives us a good story. It could be Shattered Dimensions with a great story and a few changes and I'd be satisfied.

I don't think spideys movements were utilized enough. More wall crawling and web swinging would be better. Ah hell, bring back free roam.

That should go without saying.

Indeed. But I just don't want to end up with another Web of Shadows. That game nearly killed my interest for another free-roam Spidey adventure. After the break that was Shattered Dimensions, it rejuvenated my cravings for another free-roam game, and I want them to get it right.

I think they could make a game with real good swinging mechanics without going back to free roam, plenty of areas in Shattered Dimensions are really good for free roam style of swinging
Do you think graphics would look better if like ASM world in SD using comic inspired designs or doesn't matter so long as the graphics are pleasant to look at? I like it less comic like

I love to hear and see more people say it:yay:

To be honest, I'd be fine with the graphics looking like ASM, but if they were doing a darker themed game, I would obviously want all of the character models to look realistic, maybe along the lines of Assassins Creed. It would be a fresh new take on Spidey, we've never gotten a SM game where all the character look like real people, I dont count the movie games because alot of those character models looked horrible

Personally, I prefer the comic inspired designs. It makes the world more colorful and interesting. Don't get me wrong, though, the realistic look works good on Arkham City, but that style just wouldn't suit Spidey's world.

Overall, I'm not really picky about design, and it won't be a deal-breaker for me, but I did like the cel-shaded look that the ASM world had.

first and foremost, in order for the crawling to work perfectly, they have to fix the camera. That was one of the big flaws of the previous game, it was like the camera had a hard time trying to figure out where to position itself. If it was behind Spidey, it was almost too close to the point where it was almost going up his ass

Yea the camera sucked something fierce.

As for the visuals, i think a realistic looking Spider-Man game would be really neat, rather than a more comic book or cartoon look. I dont really have one preference over the other, but i think a realistic setting could look pretty cool.

well we had realistic with the 3 movie games and wos, we had extreme stylized with Ultimate, and semi stylized with the n64/ps games. And a bit of everything with SD.

personally... i like the idea of more of a 60's retro look to it.. a little comic booky, but realistic at the same time. kinda like exaggerated realism. it's something where things don't need to look "as real as possibly" but at the same time allows beautiful great looking and lifelike graphics.

We had 3 drastically looking Spiderman set ups in Shattered Dimensions. Personally, I thought all of them worked really well. My favorite art style was the Ultimate/Amazing cartoon look, but I also loved the realistic approach with 2099.

yeah, I think the alot of us want a darker SM game, so therefore I think the realistic visual style would supplement the tone. We've never seen a Spider-Man game with visuals that are close to Mass Effect or GTA 4 which I thought had outstanding visuals. No offense to those who prefer the comic book style, but IMO if we want the game to stand a chance agains AA, the overall look of the game needs to be pushed to the limit.

Yea, the realistic setting your thinking of is the same that i am. As i said, i dont have a preference, i just dont think we've seen them go that route yet, outside of the film tie ins.

Exactly, I wouldn't mind the developers drawing inspiration from the comics, for example, take Peter Parker from the comics and render him as if he was a real person. It's new, it's different, and it sets itself apart from what was previously seen in past SM games.

Arkham Asylum didn't succeed because it looked realistic. It succeeded because of a strong script and dialogue, top-notch voice acting, solid, fun gameplay, good use of atmosphere, etc. Actually, I even remember some complaining about body proportions and all. The complaining was ridiculous, but it shows some people were not in love with it.

And while I want a more personal, deeper story (preferably one with Green Goblin or Doc Ock as a main antagonist), wanting a mature story does not mean the game has to be "dark". I'm fine with much more threatening villains, more danger, and a bit of edge, but at the same time, I don't want it to have a tone similar to Batman.

As long as he doesn't make any deals with the Devil, we're good. :cwink:

Another thing I've noticed about the past games and I think this would really improve the swinging mechanics. The past games never really had much physics with the webs, sure you could yank enemies, web them up and of course swing, but if you think about it, Spidey could never do a loop while swinging without the camera going crazy. Also if he swing onto a pole in an attempt to do continuous loops the web would never constrict around the pole thus shortening his loops. They should implement more physics so that we can see near endless possibilities with his webs.

I always hated the fact that you could literally be hanging next to a building and magically float your way off it. Sure spidey can defy gravity, but the dude cant damn fly. There has never been any weight to the character. Outside of a few animations in SD, i havent seen a Spider-Man game showcase great movement.

No superhero game has gotten the movement right.

I think Hulk: Ultimate Destruction got Hulk's movements down right. In Spider-Man's case, he always seemed more like he was flying as opposed to actually swinging, even when he lands from extreme heights, sometimes he rolls as if he were at ground level. I would assume swinging from a skyscraper downwards towards the streets would create alot of velocity behind Spider-Man, why doesn't it respond that way in games I'll never know. The most it gives you is distortion around the edges of the screen and a "whoosh" noise meaning "hey, he's going faaaaast" :awesome:

Air tricks to slow his fall down and lessen the damage aren't good?
If they did what you ask (or at least what I think you're pointing at), they'd have to rate the games as inappropriate for 12 years old
