Or maybe have 2 levels free roam in 616 universe, then 2 levels linear in the 2099 universe, then swap it over and have some levels linear based in the 616 universe, and free roam in the 2099 universe.

Yeah, but the noir Spidey was already so serious. 2099 was jokey, but he sounded older. I agree he could have been toned down a bit, but that's in the writing, not the voice actor, and since Peter David is writing it this time around, it's bound to be better.

Aw, but I liked the way he was.
If 2099 was like that, then I could think about giving it a chance.

Maybe the fact that the voice was so different then the others and the way Dan delivered the lines is why I liked it so much.

And a 2099 free-roam could be sick, but I don't think there is enough time to build something like that.

Those press releases are extremely calculated, I would know, iv written a few myself and putting something like saying the titled is "focused" leads me to believe the title won't be an open world game. That's generally a good descriptor for a more linear based title. I'll almost guarantee you the game will be of similar structure to SD. I really hope I'm wrong. I want a return to free roam.

Oh totally, unfortunately, I have a suspicion it will feel like we've played it before.

Yeah, true, and i hope so as well. I mean, obviously, I still hope for the best if it isn't, but I really want to return to free roam.

As much as I want a free roam spidey game, I just don't really care anymore. Like others, i've given up waiting for a good spidey game. I'm perfectly happy with inFamous 2 and Batman Arkham City as my free roam superhero games of the year. Not to mention Skyrim, LA Noire, Gears 3, Uncharted 3 and Mass Effect 3, i'll be perfectly content with games for this year.

It's just a shame, because I remember being a teenager and looking forward to a new Spidey or Marvel game more than ANYTHING. It would be nice to have that feeling again, but we all adapt.

I suspect the next time we see free-roam in a Spidey game will be the game for ASM.
