Spider-Man: Edge of Time

Is...that true or are we just making fun of Activision? Lol.

Its the truth. They have publicly stated that their business model focuses on yearly installments of their franchises. Just think of some of their franchises. Call of Duty, Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero, DJ Hero, Spider-Man etc. Notice a pattern with those games? All of them have yearly or close to yearly releases. It's also upsetting that 2 of those franchises are been completely run into the ground to the point that they are no longer profitable.

ACTUALLY....that would be pretty damn cool. GG should be the only choice since GG is Spidey's greatest nemesis.

This is probably worth nothing, due to the shift in writers and story, but in Shattered Dimensions, it is believed that Doctor Octopus was the one that killed Spidey, something that affected things in 2099.

Probably won't be addressed, but I did find it interesting.

The premise sounds really cool. I only hope that Beenox is giving Peter David more breathing room with the story to make it more complex and interesting, since Dan Slott only pretty much got to fill in the blanks for SMSD.

I love Spidey 2099 so I'm really glad he's getting another leading role in a game, teaser image is pretty nice. I'm wondering if it's any indication that Spidey's design has been tweaked here, it looks a lot like Marko Djurdjevic's Spider-Man, with the messy web pattern. Although he looks a bit too muscular in this poster.

And I would also really like either 616 Green Goblin or Doc Ock in this game.

I get the vibe that the "changes" between both worlds consist of the fact that with 2099's help, things when "changed" in peters time, begins to change 2099's. Simple changes could be "grime and grittiness" of the 2099 world... become brighter and cleaner. Public opinion of spider-man in 2099 could change as well... not sure what else though (if this wasn't free roam) and not sure how changing something in the future, would effect that past...

if it's a free roam game (like most cause and effect/morality games) then buildings, locations, etc.. could all change as well.

Now considering the only reason I came even slightly close to buying SD was for the 2099 segments, and we're getting a game that trims away that Ultimate and Noir stuff for just more 2099, I see myself actually committing to this one. Maybe we'll even get the return of the 2099 comi...ya know, nevermind.

Title: Edge of Time
Story writer: Peter David, co-creator of Spider-Man 2099, made it simply a different time
No. of dimensions: 01

Future & present in the description, not a sequel to Shattered Dimensions, 2099 is only an alternate dimension in the Spidey game of 2010

I don't understand that myself. Marvel keeps flip-flopping between the 2099 universe being the future of the 616 universe to it being a seperate universe to being the future again...

I think readers consider it an alternate universe more than Marvel does
It was shown to me in the start as a future of the 616 universe, I'll keep believing that

I don't understand this post...

I'm pretty excited to see how this game turns out. I for one loved Shattered Dimensions it was nice after the below average web of shadows and spider-man 3. Its an interesting concept and I like that picture of Spider-Man hopefully a video comes out soon so we can see what the gameplay is like.

i consider it both. The future will have a Spider-man of 2099 named miguel O'hara.... but, like there's many different dimensions of a peter parker... there's also many different dimensions of a miguel O'hara...

I'm serious. They dropped the license to multiple games because they couldn't make them yearly releases.

Wow...that is very sad to hear about Activision...but, it's what publishers do I suppose. Ubisoft is doing the same thing now and I know, with that kind of "standard", they're going to screw up one of my favorite franchises so far with Assassin's Creed with going over and beyond the original trilogy plan.

Wait, it was said in the game? Hrm?

Might want to explain this though as I don't read comics, lol.

No, for anyone to think it's a sequel to SD then, well...shame on them, haha, but I do think SD is the reason why Edge of Time has been created simply because Beenox enjoyed 2099 and wanted to make a game, but probably not solely on that universe so they are using 2099 AND Amazing.

I just hope to God that they don't make a game pairing up Noir and Ultimate now. A simple Spider-Man: Noir game would be sufficient and awesome as hell.

It's not fair to compare Ubisoft to Activision in that way. With their core franchises, they've still shown they have a strong focus on making the best possible game, rather than just churning out the titles.

I hope this game is linear, sure I want a free-roam spidey but it's nice to switch the formula up once in a while. Hopefully, they'll develop the next comic based title alongside the movie tie-in and release it a year later, Ultimate style.

Also, the name of this thread should be changed.

Its a safe bet the game will play in a similar style to SD.

Yeah I know, there's no way its free roam. Any notion of it somehow being open world with a year in development (fat chance) went out the window the second they announced it would focus on both amazing and 2099.

By the way, I hope it divided 60-40 or 70-30 in playtime in favor of amazing, probably not but I still dream.

Nah dude, they can't change the name of this thread. I'm pretty sure this thread was around since before SD. Since there's a spidey game every year, they may as well just keep this one open. After all, the name isn't time specific is it? We're already talking about the 'Next Spider-Man Game' after Edge of Time :P

Something tells me the guys over at Beenox seen that Shattered Dimensions did fairly better than some of the freeroam Spidey titles, so they'll keep it linear.

Nope, the Shattered Dimensions thread was named "The Next Spider-Man Game" at first to. Discussion will shift towards Edge of Time the more info gets released anyway so it's easier to just rename it. Then later on, a new thread will be made, and the discussions in that one will be exactly like the ones in this one and the SD one up until a real announcement is made. Circle of life.

I don't like that at all. People spend more time talking about 'the perfect spidey game' than they ever do the ones that actually exist.

So, with this game focusing on only Amazing and 2099. What villains do you expect?

I definitely think 616 Green Goblin will have a role in this. I think none none of the Amazing villains from SD will make a return. Why? Because there are just so many others to chose from that Beenox haven't tried out.

I actually think The Spot will make an appearance in this. He hasn't been in any game and it seems many fans would like to face him off in a game.

Anyway, for 2099, are there many villains to chose from? There's Green Goblin 2099, Venom 2099, Vulture 2099, Scorpion 2099...do you think Doc Ock 2099 will make a return? Seems many wanted her to return so I think it's likely. I would love to battle a Vulture 2099.

We already had Scorpion 2099.

And Vulture 2099 would be too much like Hobgoblin 2099.

You know, I don't think they have the rights, but i've always wanted Punisher and Daredevil to show up in a Spidey game. They're always crowbarring in other popular Marvel characters, like Wolvie or Juggernaut, but they always neglect the NY based characters who actually bump into Spidey all the time, like Dr Strange, DD etc. I know those are heroes, but The Punisher is always a good challenge, since he can't kill Spidey. It would be an awesome level if Spidey was trying to get someone for info, or stop Punisher from killing someone important, so it was like a race level and then a defend escort level or something like that.

Thing is, if this game would have as many bosses as SD (which I'm not saying it will, but still...), Spider-Man 2099 would need to reuse some from SD since there aren't really that many to chose from. Amazing is another story, there are dozens of villains waiting there that didn't appear in SD. And I don't want Beenox to make up too many villains for 2099 either. I don't want a 2099 Shocker if that means that 616 Shocker wouldn't make an appearance just because of that for example.

I love your ideas about The Punisher. I would like to have him in the game.

Dr. Strange maybe isn't as far fetched as it may sound. I mean, this game is all about time and stuff. Dr. Strange has made Spidey travel back and forth in time before in the comics. I actually think he'll have a role in this one similar to what Madame Web had in SD.
