Well, they can't let Peter can't catch him 'cause he was seemingly going to torture & kill the dude. That was his intent when he went searching for him. "This could've got a lot worse" So... Yeah.
Ah, yes. It would be completely dumb for Peter to have a moment of clarity. Well, with Gartfunkle's lack of humanity in the movies, maybe you're right.
As for Peter yelling at May-- I thought that scene felt very real & true to life. Peter was frustrated because he was trying to find Ben's killer, he was keeping this secret to himself & it was too much for him. Aunt May was wanted to know what was going on with him & he ended up blowing up on May but she snapped back. It was a very organic moment. And Peter definitely cared for May in TASM movies.
Yeah, all those times he continued to talk about his parents and ignore May. Yeah. He loves her alot. Also, it was still horribly handled.
None of those stories would have fit the movie they were trying to make. It was never going to be about Curt's family (Although Billy was in a deleted scene). The Lizard's motivation was a reflection of Curt's in the movie & it fitted with the "Metamorphosis/destiny/power' themes of the movie. They had already tied him to Richard Parker so that was close connection to Peter.
He worked with his dad and got into a fight with him and worked at Oscorp. Oddly reminiscent of Norman Osborn (In name only) from TASM2. Have you ever read any of those, btw? Lizard's tale is all about the duality of Connors, and his alter-ego. You're right though, it didn't fit with what they were trying to make - because then I may have actually cared about someone in that movie, which they clearly failed at lol. I'd also love to add, deleted scenes do not count. It is not part of the finished film. Therefore, the movie failed to show a seriously crucial aspect of the character. Much like they did with Spider-Man in those movies.
No arguments there.
But see, I'm not asking for another origin story just a quick recap/flashback. I don't understand why people kept moaning about seeing Uncle Ben & the origin again. We've seen Bruce Wayne's parents die four times, what is wrong with showing such a vital part of the character for a NEW version?
Because it would be entirely blase and unnecessary. Blase is a word which here means:
unimpressed or indifferent to something because one has experienced or seen it so often before.
Feige can't just assume EVERYBODY knows his origin because there could be kids who are being introduced to the character via MCU. I was introduced to Spidey through the Raimi films.
What a shame. I mean, it isn't like we have nearly 60+ years of content to sift through, or a
PERFECT origin in SM1. No, only newcomers can watch the movies, not go through any other media with the character.
Blame Sony for not releasing anything for this movie. The marketing for this movie SUCKS hard compared to SM2-TASM2's marketing campaign. There's nothing to talk about & that's why the same topics keep being recycled. TASM1-TASM2 was way more active than this place all the way through
SM2/SM3 had better marketing, but the marketing for both TASM movies were horrible. We knew the full movie going in both times.
Nice to see the quality of posts here has improved since last night.
Here's my question to you: When Tony asks Peter why he does what he does, and Peter says "When you can do the things that I can, but you don't, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you."
What in all of the good green planet earth could he possibly be talking about other than Uncle Ben? Who else would he have lost? How else would he have learned that lesson? He basically outright says it (the subtext is strong with this one) and I doubt he's going to want to unload his personal tragedy (which is still fairly recent, less than six months) on a stranger.
BUT MUH LACK OF UNCLE BEN PICTURES!!!!
Apparently he wasn't talking about Uncle Ben because he didn't yell out "Uncle Ben" 16 times during the short scene.
OMFG that had me laughing so hard in TASM1. Uncle Ben literally dies over chocolate milk, then Peter just goes : UncleBenUncleBenUncleBenUncleBenUncleBenUncleBenUncleBenUncleBenUncleBenUncleBenUncleBenUncleBenUncleBen *autistic screeching* lmao
