I don't feel it breaks it. If the trailer looks cool, and the show is good, it'll do good. It's already going to be (or should be) very aesthetically different, set in the 30s... It's in its own continuity, I would assume. Maybe it's because I know very little about this version of Peter Parker, besides what I saw in Into The Spiderverse.

Even then, personality wise Spider-Verse Noir is very different than how he is in the comics. Just let Cage do his thing and we're golden.

Hopefully they come up with something compelling. From my POV, why wouldn't you use Peter Parker??? Maybe it has to do with studio politics behind the scenes. The idea of an older Peter in a different timeframe/noir setting is far more intriguing. Much easier to sell to fans and a general audience. Nick Cage as Peter Parker, doing Nick Cage things. That's the best recipe.

Ngl, we've had Peter Parker in live action quite a bit in the past two decades (and done pretty well) I guess I just don't mind them using/making a different character. It may essentially be Peter Parker with a different name because of possible behind the scenes issues. But Nick Cage will sell the show for some no matter what.

This is just Sony taking advantage of their Spider-Man rights. Their SSU movies aren't taking off as they planned to, so I guess this is the best thing they could do without Marvel Studios.

I forgot about them being involved. That gives me a lot more hope for this. I'm already pretty excited just for Cage.

Also compared to Sony's cinematic universe, even though it won't be Peter Parker due to shared rights, it will still be a show about... you know, Spider-Man. So that alone sets it apart from their other crap from the get go.

Hm if true, I wonder if this means they are trying to do a Noir clone saga story or if it's simply them using the name Ben Reilly just to have a name that's not Peter. So it's like they're not using Peter Parker but they kinda are I guess? The former would be pretty interesting but I have a feeling it's gonna be the latter.

Deadline reports that Li will play "a singer at the premier nightclub in New York," but a recent plot synopsis revealed that Nicolas Cage's Depression-era wall-crawler will be facing a "femme fatal" take on Yuriko Watanabe, and Daniel Richtman believes this is indeed who she's been cast as.

The scooper also reports that Tom Burke and Abraham Popoola are in talks for unknown parts.

Interesting. I didn't read the full deadline article so I missed the nightclub owner part. Had I not know about Yuri being in this, I would have assumed she was playing Black Cat (since she was a nightclub owner in the comics).

Silvermane and Wraith aren't the most exciting characters so I'm not surprised they are being adapted here, rather in a Spider-Man live action film.
