Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 2

Combat looks very satisfying, very Spidey. All the jumping around and using his webs and the environment just looks like how I'd envision Spidey fighting. Plus the gadgets could add some fun flavor to it.

Wish they could've did something fresh instead going over the motions of TASM/Arkham combat system. Tbh, I wish this game looked completely different than what it looks like. No game so far since Spider-Man 2 has did the two hand web swinging. I'm ready for a new swinging system that is more advanced and cinematic than just press and hold button to shoot web, release to let go of web, repeat proccess.

I don't want to dwell on my disappointment too long because I know there are a lot of people in this thread who love what they're seeing (Don't want to be a party pooper) but suffice to say, I'm bored of how derivative the game looks of past games (particularly Beenox TASM series). The car chase looks straight out of TASM1 with the quick time events

lol it looks nothing like TASM1 game nothing.

Apparently it's going to be a video talking about the small details in the game, like the squirrels in parks and probably civilian interaction and A.I.. The writer of the articles on twitter said JJJ was gonna be heard in it.

I thought we where supposed to get that today wesday.

Lol seriously, I think some of us need to revisit beenox's open world spiderman. The eye test shows all the difference. And qte's are almost unavoidable when it comes to spiderman. It's how they manage to sprinkle them in and out of sequences is what will count.

Aerial combat does not exist in Arkham. Spider-Man doesn't counter-attack, you must dodge before you can attack. Web swinging will use a lot of different buttons to travel with different results, it's not automated you are always in control. Insomniac is just smart enough to see past developers had good ideas and they are perfecting them.

This so much this.

Yeah the Arkham combat was good and worked for someone like batman but for someone like Spiderman you need something different and this looks like it should work for Spiderman.

The video is low quality, but you can see Spidey throwing a couple of webs in the air to keep himself in the air. Such a little but awesome detail.
A lot of shots made me think you were imagining things, then I saw a couple of shots showing a web popping out all of a sudden.

lots of awful looking animations, yuck. at least the moves can be used creatively

Yeah, I see it too. But, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, Insomniac has time to correct these things and smooth out the animation. We're not seeing the alpha build of the game yet.

The more responsive the game the more choppy the animation will become as you have to be able to break the animation at any time to load the new animation

I think the animations look great. Will look even better in 5 months. Game Informer guy said the game's graphics are silk smooth.

Yes, they're still doing lots of polishing, especially on animations. My beef is more with the move set, like beating up a guy in the air makes Spidey hover in place, and he can also stay like that while he throws a thug over him with webs. It's too ps2 for my taste. I was expecting moves like you might see in a Spider-man movie, lot of this combat wouldn't pass on a film. If the game has constantly stuff that doesn't look plausible, for me it takes away from the fantasy of being Spider-man. I still dislike how Spidey here can do impossible web zips

Also I saw that he shot a web line while in air combo, didn't improve the issue for me

one thing i like is that they are not making him stand like an insect. he actually standing like a person. All the Beenox game had spider-man hunched over and his hands always in claw like state.

Looked pretty good to me. Really the only way to know is to get your hands on it.

I literally could not disagree more. The air combat is one of the most exciting parts for me.

Ahh, I see. I agree the air combat moves are implausible but aside from the Beenox movie tie ins most Spidey games have a fantastical element to the combat. Beenox went more for the luchador style of fighting which I loved and still do but I also enjoy the fantasy stuff too. Really for me, it's about the feel of the combat with the controller in hand. Difficult to judge looking at videos. However it looks to me like Insomniac has a good blend of both 'realistic' Spider-Man moves and the not so real. I'm loving what we've seen so far especially the gadgets. That tripwire looks fun as can be.

The fantastical started with Spider-Man 2. I like having a few aerial attacks.

I love how he seamslessly goes from slo-mo aerial attacks to swinging kick to web-strike without hitting the ground. That's Spidey.

I wish they could figure out a way to bring back wall combat. Fighting on the side of a building is just one of the many cool unique things Spidey could do, shame only one game has tried to really expand on that.

Think the combat looks absolutely perfect from what we've seen so far. The little snipit of him in the classic suit was probably the most Spider-Man like combat in a game for me.

The Iron Spider suit from Infinity War will be available.

Holy **** they weren't kidding when they said it would be revealed soon. Wow. Awesome cinematic, too. Love that the eyes glow.
