How are they going to market this thing since he “died” in Infinity War and this movie comes out only a couple months after Avengers 4. They’re not going to want to spoil how he comes back

There is approx a 2 month period of time in between films...think that speaks for itself. [Blackout]We just may not get the typical teaser a month before the theatrical trailer....probably just go right to the threatrical, shortly after A4 is released.[/blackout]

I find that hard to believe based on Sony’s past track record of marketing. I believe Marvel is in charge of production while Sony still does marketing.

Yeah I think Homecoming 2 probably takes place either just about Infinity War time or it takes place before Infinity War like either days before or weeks before Infinity War happens in the timeline especially if they want this film to coincide with Infinity War and Avengers 4

I think Feige confirmed Homecoming 2 takes places after IW and the world-wide locations of the film have to do with what happens in A3 & 4.

Yeah there's no way Sony doesn't release a trailer for this movie prior to Avengers 4 coming out.

They've already said Homecoming 2 takes place after Avengers 4.

So it would definitely take suspense out for the general audience to see Peter alive before Avengers 4.

I would tag that for anyone that hasn't seen it yet.

Yeah, they're all fake, Mr. Feige... except the one about Spider-Man travelling to London, which you confirmed yourself? If I recall correctly, they all came from the same source.
I'm actually quite happy to hear that it's a minor role (keyword *minor* he never said it didn't happen. It was blown out of proportion) Spider-Man doesn't need a secret agent type femme fatale character. He is not James Bond. Now if the character was going to be Black Cat or Silver Sable - I would have excited but that's not possible because of the unnecessary, contrived Sony spinoff that's currently in the works. So more than likely, it would have been either Jessica Drew or an original character and frankly, I'm not interested in seeing either of those options explored. If they want a character like that, bring in Black Widow to team up with Spidey

I have the same question.

I simply don't see how they can hold off on marketing until two months prior to the movie's release. But releasing anything before Avengers 4 immediately spoils the character's return.

Very curious what they do.

They can easily market the film before Avengers 4. Just leave out everything that happened regarding
Peter "dying" and coming back, whatever happens in Avengers 4
in the first round of marketing, beyond like a vague line of dialogue or two alluding to it. Teaser could just be that plus action scenes/villain introductory scenes. There is no way in hell Sony is gonna hold off on marketing until after next May.

They can do a cool teaser trailer at the end of the year only revolving around the villain :cwink:

Anyone else hope he goes back to his old suit for the sequel? The Iron Spider suit is obviously more advantageous but it makes him too overpowered.

I like that idea a lot. Just vague references to
what happened in IW/Avengers 4
, action scenes, and villain scenes.

I mean, his old suit in Homecoming had taser webbing and loads of advanced tech and Vulture still managed to beat him in each encounter before Tony took it back. Granted, that was mostly due to Spidey's naivete, but I don't think the suit will make much of a difference

I'm actually curious about that. In Civil War the "classic" suit wasn't shown to have a HUD, an AI, and multiple web configurations, but in Homecoming it's shown that the suit is actually decked out with fancy gizmos. In Infinity War,

The classic suit isn't shown utilizing any of the tech displayed in Homecoming, and the Iron Spider suit, other than the legs popping out from the back of the suit, essentially behaves as a palette swap with no more features than the classic suit.
Which does make me wonder if the Russos/Markus&McFeely writing team think that Tony's suit contributions to Peter should only be the design and no additional tech stuff.

I don't want him to go back to any previous suit. I want Peter to make his own costume, a costume that looks exactly like the one in the comics and that doesn't come with AIs and insta-kill modes.

Eh, that's where we disagree. I've been thinking about it lately and now I'm convinced that introducing Drew in a Spider-Man would be the smartest thing to do. Let's address the elephant in the room right away. Yes, her codename is Spider Woman. Why does she have spider powers? Does she have any connections to Spider-Man?

It's a better option than just introducing her somewhere else without even bothering to address those questions.

The fact that the sequel has so far been described as "globetrotting" kinda points to Kraven being the villain imo. If he's picked, my top pick to play him would be Rory McCaan (The Hound on Game of Thrones). He's got the right physical build and is genuinely menacing.

I think that ship has sailed.

Honestly, at a minimum, introducing her in a Spider-Man film at least deals with the biggest hurdle. Sony owns her powers, codename, and costume. Sony and Marvel have shown themselves capable of cooperation, but not always enthusiastic cooperators. If they introduce her in a Spider-Man movie, it means Kevin Feige can introduce her with all the bells and whistles without Sony worrying over rights issues.

Do people really think that Sony and Marvel will put off marketing this movie until two months before it's out? For real?

Sadly not. Even a villain-based Trailer will spoil the Events through the title "Spider-Man 2"

As for the suit, ehh. I'd be more than fine with something 90% what the Homecoming one was aesthetically, maybe just with all the electronics/gimmicks taken out. Maybe keep Karen though (thought maybe she should have had a moment or two in Homecoming with the new one), but just phase Peter out of relying on Tony so much.
