Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

Base the game in the Spectacular Spider-Man animated series. The stories are well written in them and thay can add random crimes.
 
Meh. I wouldn't want to have to look at that art style for the whole game.
 
Im all for them making a game on the Spectacular Spider-Man series. I love that show, one of my fav's on TV now.
 
This would be the best spider-man game PERIOD

-Free Roaming (but when entering a building, or certain boss fights they may play more like Spider-man 1 or the N64/Ps1 games.

-Weather changes... rain, snow, seasons. I'd love for special days too like around Christmas you see the tree in Rockefeller center, in the fall the macy's day parade, colored light changes to the top of the empire state building

- Arial battles...

-Battle damage to buildings, cars, etc... if the rhino throws a car and it hits a building, there should be damage.

-missions the follow comic stories (not movie).... let us relive it all: (first battles with villains, captain stacy's death, gwens death, sinister 6, etc etc... )

-include alot of villains (Doc Ock, green goblin, venom, vulture, electro, sandman, kraven, calypso, lizard, hobgoblin (a goblin war with spidey stuck in between would rock), mysterio, rhino, shocker, scorpion, carnage, hydro man, spot, morbius, hell even give me newer people like morlun.)

-include allies (black cat, prowler, daredevil, human torch, iceman, firestar, cloak & dagger, silversable, green goblin (harry)) and make some or all of them unlockable to play as.

-Co-op or online mode that lets other players join a room where you can be allies to do team ups

-Multi-player free for all battles (basically you pick a stage (ex construction, rooftop, central park, stadium, etc..) and you have a 4 person battle with allies and villains (think smash brothers mixed with marvel nemisis (just with actual good moves).

-stealth missions

-peter parker missions (photo camera was fun, but let it be free roam. not challenges) this will earn you money to get web cartridges, costume repairs, rent, the occasional mj date, Just don't make it so difficult that you're stuck doing soooo many of those missions versus being a superhero

-free roaming villains. After you beat a villain for the first time, they may randomly appear again throughout the city. Say you're riding on a car and you hear the radio say "rhino broke out of Ryker's island, be cautious" and later when your web swinging through town you see an explosion and it's rhino. The game should focus alot on power and responsibility. You can choose to fight him, or pay the consequences of letting him get away.
 
Yeah, I like that, too bad they won't take the time out to do all of that.
 
This may be a controversial statement but I for one do not want to see free-roam. That's right I said it! Free roam games just tend to get really repetitive and ridden with glitches. Unless the game gets years put into it (which I doubt is the case here) it tends to disappoint. So I want closed environments and independent level design, or whatever you call it. Anyone agree?
Gotta agree with you, Shocker. Nothing wrong with the free roamers and I don't think we need to shelve them completely. Just give it a rest for a while and bring it back to basics. Focus on a good story with intriguing gameplay instead of just the swinging mechanism and nothing else.
 
I hope this game's been in development atleast since Spider-Man 3.

I'm pretty much with you expect for the bold. That doesn't need to be in a Spider-Man game, at all. A few allies popping up is fine, but no more than a handful and they definitely do not need to be playable. If you want to play a game as other hero's, go play Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, this needs to be a Spider-Man game, not Spider-Man and Buddies. The co-op would also be a waste of dev time. Sure Spider-Man has team ups every now and then, but by and large he is a solo hero, hes not an X-Man.

Other than that, I'm pretty much with you. Id trim the villain roster as i think its a bit excessive but i like most of your ideas. LOVE the random villain attacks idea.

I have a feeling its been in development since WoS. Spider-Man is doomed to live in hell under Activision. They value names that sell, above all else. Spider-Man is a name that sells and they know that. In their eyes, there is no reason to release a true quality product when they know the game will sell on its own. Their thinking is, 'why spend the time, money and effort to really crack out a super product when a low quality title will sell just as much'

I hope im worng, but i dont think we'll see the Spider-Man game we want until the license goes to another developer.

I'm 100% sure the Prototype team are doing this Spidey Game... I remember reading it on IGN months ago, just before Prototype was released, that Activision had already put them in charge of the spidey franchise. Cbf'd to find the link, as it's a while back, but knowing you lot, one of you will :D.

My concern for this Spidey game, assuming its done in a similar style to Hulk/Prototype, is that those games focus on destruction, which isn't a Spidey thing at all. Also, the graphics werent the best in Prototype...

The main thing that i want in this game, that i've wanted in EVERY Spidey game, is loads of dialogue while fighting bad guys, like spidey would actually do, paying them out, making lame jokes that kind of thing. (I'm still pissed off with WOS, because I remember a WOS Dev saying they'd included it, after i asked about it, which was a flat out lie)

I also liked Spidey 2's monologues, where he comments on the story and what he needs to do and stuff, while he's swinging around.

Hang on a second here, I've been reading Spider-Man comics for years. Many years. I've read the early comics by dad had when he was younger and in many of them I always remember Spider-Man running into other Marvel characters from other comics. Iron Man was once flying out of Stark Towers and Spider-Man was swinging by.

The X-Men were in a diner and Peter was in there also with Gwen. The Fantastic Four would show up often. Keep it in the spirit of the Spider-Man comics. Peter having to earn many to pay for his way in life. Give it RPG elements and crame as many characters from marvel comics in as possible.

How cool would it be if you were fighting Venom and being chased by him. You spot the Fantastic Four building in the distance and head for it. Chances are Human Torch can help you, but maybe he isn't there. But maybe Mr. Fantastic is with his sonic gun.

Just do these things. Let us think about different ways to defeat a villian. Maybe leading Hydro Man away from water and taking him out that way. Or getting him close to power lines frying him.

Imagine being invited to do a photo shoot for JJJ at a press event, but Doc Ock is still out in the city somewhere. You could go searching for him, but without many, how will you pay the rent? make web fluid? Or maybe the press event is for some Tony Stark is showing off. Maybe Doc Ock shows up and maybe you'll be needed there?

Include a stalk type of feature. Spider-Man can be a dark character but people can be afraid to do that. But why not have Spider-Man needing to use brains to solve a massive crime wave going through the city. Maybe you need to bust up a few guys and wait for them to flee. You let one get away and give chase without him even knowing you're doing so. You follow him back and he leads you to the next piece of the puzzle.

Have massive random events take place that maybe even Spider-Man can't handle on his own and you'll need to turn to the other heroes. But there should also be a friendship system where some heroes won't get along with you. That could change the whole out come of the game because they won't help you. This could lead into Hero vs Hero battles. It happens in the comics, so maybe here also.

I want to see different weather effects and it would be amazing to see that the rain has an effect on your web swinging. I want free running type of movement (not like the cartoon type from Prototype) but Spider-Man like.

I want indoor missions again, and I don't want Spider-Man to be out of place in these areas. And NO DOUBLE JUMP!!! just the good old single and charge jump.

A few more things, how about a WHAT IF? mode from the options screen. This will allow you to play through classic moments from the comics and allow you to retcon the outcome of the battle.

But please, please, please, give us a proper and very "real" based web swinging and poses with the Spider-Man movement no other character in the marvel universe can pull off.

I want indoor to outdoor movement without load times. I have this battle in my head and I can't stop thinking about it. Spider-Man is fighting Scorpion over the building tops. Scorpion grabs hold of Spider-Man and throws him into a building and through the window. 30 stories up and Spider-Man recovers inside the office building with people running around screaming to see Scorpion leaping into the window.

However Spider-Man dodges him and Scorpion uses his tail to land and grab a hostage. He then throws the hostage outside the window and punches Spider-Man.

A picture in picture pops up and shows the hostage falling down to their death, but you can save her because Scorpion has grabbed you. Eventually you break free, tackle Scorpion and jump out of the window diving for the woman. You get closer and closer with each second, but so does Scorpion. Finally, you reach the woman, shoot off a web and get her to saftey. The battle then continues.

Just something we NEED in this game. I have more ideas to come.

I think we need to be a little realistic in our wishes lol. Everyone would love a free roam game, where you could be every marvel character, and do anything, but they're more than likely going to just expand upon what spidey games have come before this one, so what are some ways to help that?

As far as 'proper and real based web swinging', I don't know what else you want to make it realistic... I think that's pretty much been developed to death, and is fine. Combat, just needs to be a mix of everything thats come before. Web strike or air combat was great in WOS, but a little more variety would be sweet.

I think the main thing should be a comic based storyline, that would be tops. And I think the main area that COULD use a massive overhaul is looking at side quests and side missions...

I'm not saying to have every marvel character playable, just a few in co-op. Black Cat and Daredevil if you ask me because they are the closet when it comes to mimicing Spider-Man's abilities.

And the air-combat was good in WoS, but it seemed to me like i was played God of War with Spider-Man. I don't care about how many hits I can get, I just want to see fluid animation with Spider-Man's own style. He bounces all over the place and uses webs to disable people. He doesn't stay in mid air for 1 min because he keeps on using his web pull to drag thugs up into the air to continue a combo.

Who gives a **** about chaining a combo when you've got witty puns and one liners coming from Spider-Man himself. Seeing a car theft taking place and setting up a camera to catch the shots.

I want these things.
 
What I DON'T want to see is no free-roaming. It works with Spider-Man, so keep it.

Anway.....I haven't played Web of Shadows, so I can't truly input on what I'd like to see next time around. But, I did rent it from gamefly, so I should have it tomorrow.

But, I do know WOS was lacking in the extra costumes department. So, I'd like to see more of that on the next game.
 
As would I. Spider-Man has used many different costumes in his crime fighting life. Put them in the game, give us different pros and cons with each costume. The allow us to design and build our own.

And also, FREE-ROAMING is a MUST. Do NOT remove this from the game. Spider-Man is a free roaming character.
 
IF Venom has any role in the next game, though it is highly unlikely. Please make him playable. Having him as the main villain in the last two games, and not making him playable was a kick in the nads.
 
Something else I'd love to see in the game. Day and night effects to actually change the game. More crimes at night and a more dangerous city. Have people react to Spider-Man differently depending on how often he is seen throughout the city.

If he shows up during the day more, have people love to hate him lol and the reverse at night. Maybe they fear him. I mean seeing a guy bounce around with big white eyes at night would scare the **** out of me.
 
Venom would be awesome, but it needs to be done well. He can't be the main villian again. I hate him as an anti-hero, but maybe for this he needs to be. Maybe he has his own storyline going on and that Venom is trying to solve. That way there, he appears often, but it won't be the ******** **** from Part 3.

I like the idea of a proper baxter building and stark tower and stuff... I'd love to be able to do more than stand on top of it, and look at a sign. It'd be cool to enter it, and talk to people, maybe do trivia quiz's or something with characters to unlock things, I don't know. Kind of like the bases in Marvel Ultimate Alliance, I guess.

I think Venom's been given a good enough go as a playable character... I'd rather they just focus on making spidey the best character they can. Every time they include another character, it splits the focus and makes spidey just that little bit more generic. Venom ruined Ultimate Spider-man for me... If I wanted to just play as a watered down hulk, i'd play Hulk: UD.... and considering this game is made by Sierra, Venom would just play as a cross between Alex Mercer and Hulk anyway, which while cool, is nothing new.

I always think of in the first Spider-Man movie, when Spidey takes out the thugs in the armoured car for the photo op, he kinda bounces his way around and over the thugs, with really well placed dodges and hits. It kinda reminds me of a more acrobatic free flow combat from Batman Arkham Asylum, or AC... I think that would really enhance the ground based combat for Spidey....

fair enough, i agree on the co-op being a massive undertaking, but its still something id love to see :)

However different playable characters wouldnt be such a bad idea. sorry, but ultimate spider-man wasnt such a bad idea with the venom levels, i just wish they werent you just taking on military.
 
I don't want to always see Symbiotes, but I also want a game where Venom is finally done right and playable. I can't believe the only Spider-man game with a good and playable Venom is Maximum Carnage.
 
Venom was pretty awesome in USM, although I did miss webswinging.
