World Spider-man: Web of Shadows Game

I hope to God that that isn't really the PS2 version..sometimes amazon.com and other online websites make mistkaes when posting pics..for example...walmart and target.com had pics listed for the ps2 version of TFU but the pics they were using were for the ps3/360 versions of the game.
so who knows maybe those pics are strictly psp or someother system...
not only that it doesn't make sense..someone here posted something about a preview of the PS2 version and it dounds awesoem..yet those pics look totally lame...it just doesn't add up.
so hopefully those screen shots are just the wrong pics and not really what the ps2 will look like..

I'm happy the wait is nearly over now cause I've really been looking forward to Web of Shadows since I first heard about it.

The release date is the 21st of october, but it won't be hitting store shelves until the 22nd.

No, the game should be available in stores on the 21st. I think the ship date versus release date deal is no longer relevant. Star Wars The Force Unleashed was listed everywhere as releasing on September 16, and it was in stores that morning. LEGO Batman was listed as being out on September 23, and I saw it at Target today at lunch. Unless something goes wrong, I'm pretty sure this will be on store shelves on the 21st.

LOL, Keep that optimism. I love it!

Maybe it's just area specific? I didn't see Lego batman out anywhere today...:huh::huh:

Damn you Silverstein and Styleshift. -_-

You got me hooked on X-Men 2 for Genesis. :( Seriously, it's torn me away from my DS games. XD

Barbie is freaky looking...

And I agree with cory, Oct. 21 is the street date.

HOPEFULLY CPP is right, because there have been multiple times I've gone to pick up my game (and while they have it they can't officially release it into circulation.)

Heh, I miss the good ol days of the genesis and super nintendo. we're spoiled like crazy these days. :woot:

I remember the days when you really didn't know what to expect. Now Activision is promoting all of the wrong things...we are learning more about the story than gameplay.I mean we haven't even really seen him swing yet. :csad:

but it was like that with USM right?

Activision's been promoting the wrong things for a while now. =/

At least they're no Vicarious Visions...who finds one cool thing and sticks to it.

SM3? Symbiote suit auto switch.

M:UA 2? Fusing powers.

I'm surprised they're being so story-centric with stuff now and not showing us gameplay. Doesn't almost every video game show off the gameplay and try to keep the story under wraps? Activision must really think that marketing the characters with these games is what makes them sell to a mass audience. I'm not buying that. When the 4 gameplay videos came out on Gamespot, I'm sure that only boosted excitement in the game. What is so hard about releasing some gameplay footage that lasts longer than one minute? I'd also like to see them list a couple of combos on the site and show dedicated videos of those, like The Force Unleashed did. At least it was SOMETHING.

^^ I'm sure they'll be releasing more gameplay footage. I mean, we still have about 28 days to go.

I just checked in on the (crappy) official site again. I didn't realize they added a news item yesterday mentioning the GameTrailers trailer about the story that came out last Wednesday. Apparently this is a 4-part series with GameTrailers and each Wednesday for 4 weeks there'll be a new one showing "the latest and greatest gameplay footage." Something to look forward to. Hopefully the next 3 show more new stuff that's not rehashed from previous trailers.

Cory, they did that for Spider-Man 3. They had a LOT more information then.

By this time in Spidey's Web, we had:

  • 2 live chats with the developers using a Java chat-based program
  • Developer blogs about the PS3, PS2, and Wii versions of the game, also blogs about certain characters and how things worked. Not to mention developer opinions on things.
  • The guest developer was there answering questions a lot more frequently than now. The moderators NEVER had to get questions answered for us because they stopped answering.
  • A "hello to the members of this forum" video from Thomas Hayden Church. Yes, we got one from Tricia Helfer...weeks before the game's release. THC's vid was up months before the release. We also got one from Phil Lamaar on M:UA VIP and he hinted at him voicing Black Panther.
  • Behind the scenes videos where they'd show an attack, then show how it was created, showed it in slow motion and all that good stuff.
  • A contest to meet Stan Lee in California, have lunch with him, and have him sign a Wii that you also won.
  • A contest to go to Treyarch and play the video game before anyone else did...you also could've brought a camera, I believe but the person who won didn't know that. He did, however play the 360 and Wii version of the game.
  • A contest for either a Wii, PS3, 360, DS, or PSP just about every week.
  • A "swag pack" for the members with the most points. Given to us to distribute and help promote SM3 the Game. Then there was a contest for those who got their stuff distributed and pictures taken of it and they won a console or handheld, I believe. I recieved this pack, it had a t-shirt, a hat, some stickers, a notebook, and I think a poster.
  • A SM3 the Game poster signed by Tobey, Kirsten, and I think Thomas Hayden Church (I received this too but I haven't taken it out of the package. ;)). In M:UA VIP, they also sent out Stan Lee signed posters...I got one of those too...it's awesome.
  • Plus a LOT more.

Everything I just listed ALSO happened for M:UA VIP and I believe for COD4. I think Activision's run out of money (seriously) with the way the economy is now. They must be definitely cutting back.

But they could give us more information...it doesn't take that much to give us more videos.

Awesome news! Now, it's not just comics I can't wait for on Wednsdays, but also new gameplay for this game.

Wow, I just realized they did ALL of that for a game that SUCKED.
Hopefully it will be the opposite this time since WOS is being poorly promoted and represented. The visuals and gameplay look stunning every time I see new footage. SM3 never really wow'd me, Spidey's web was plenty more fun than the actual game. but WOS has me HOOKED. :woot:

Sadly it would have been nice to have gamestop release the item that wins with a signature from maybe Mike vaughn and Tricia Helfer. :cwink:

Does anyone know If they released the information about the object that won yet?

I believe it was a poster, a T-shirt, or a figurine.

Not that I know of. Personally, I don't think we'll be knowing what we'll be getting when we pick up the game.

SM3 was a good game. The ideas were well conceived and the concepts were amazing...it was the production and outcome that sucked.

Sewers and subways finally in the game, AWESOME! Lizard, Kraven, Kingpin and even Venom...Awesome! Two suits to choose from, great!

But..The sewers and subways were empty and lacked a reason to explore them outside of story. Lizard barely fought you, Kraven was too easy and Kingpin too hard and Venom was only there for like five minutes and his level sucked. The suits didn't make that much of a difference and you could barely kill Kingpin even with the black suit.

Of course he was only hard the first time you died....When I got a chance to do it again, You have to kind of glitch the game so that you're always in the air, or just keep punching him in the head.

Very good points there.

So are you saying SM3 was good in concept? Or both in concept and execution?

I agree that the concept was pretty cool, but sm3's execution was weak. A HUGE step backwards. When I say suck, I don't mean the game was bad. I meant when comparing it to the almighty Spider-man 2. :cwink:

because I've gone on record here stating that I actually liked some things about it. It's really sad that the next gen experience only has the cineractives returning and the last gen SM3 actually has even MORE concepts returning in WOS. (rpg combat system, web zip to enemies, changing suits in combat) because of that there is no real reason to keep SM3 since I won't play it. :csad:

I might as well take off some credit for WOS

Defenitely! IMO, it couldn't match the aweosmeness of the web-swinging, etc, in Spider-Man 2. However, as I said, it wasn't a bad game.
