Sequels Spider-Man: Where Do We Go From Here?

Its always possible to get the rights to a character. Has there been any word on a Daredevil sequel?

WTF? Demogoblin? No offense, I always thought he was kinda cool, but I doubt someone like him would ever be in the movies

Well, he might not be a good idea, but I think Spider-Man 6 should have another 2-on-2 battle, to end this trilogy as to how the first Spider-Man trilogy ends...who would be a good ally for Hobgoblin though? Both goblins want power and I don't see any good allies with them.

And, for Demogoblin, I was gonna go for a robotic version, not the actual demonic goblin, lol.

The theme could be "That Things Are Not What They Appear To Be".Mysterio would fit because of his illusions,Lizard isn't the monster that N.Y. has claimed that he is,maybe Peter's parents aren't really dead, maybe Black Cat isn't really a villain, maybe she is being blackmailed to be a villain,or maybe she wears a collar that is controlling her mind,Chameleon could be disguised as people that are close to Peter, maybe Peter and MJ aren't as happy together as Peter thinks.

Remaining villains for Spider-Man 4,5,6:

Chameleon
Carnage
Electro
Hobgoblin
Hydro-Man
Kraven the Hunter
Lizard
Mysterio
Rhino
Scorpion
Shocker
Vulture

And the only villains capable of being in a Spider-Man movie:

Electro
Hobgoblin
Kraven the Hunter
Lizard
Scorpion

Electro, Hobgoblin, Kraven the Hunter, Lizard and Scorpion have great stories and would be good visuals (Hobgoblin of course because he is another goblin...but in a better color)...Lizard and Kraven are needed for Spider-Man 4 and I would love to see Scorpion and Electro in a sequel too.

I think the head honchos need to sit back, and come up with a plausible story before rushing into Spidey 4. :spidey:

Of everyone you listed, XXTBWCXX, Lizard and Scorpion are most likely, in my opinion.

Every last one of these villains listed can work in a movie IMO.

Carnage, Hobgoblin, and Hydro-Man are all re-hashes. So they're eliminated off the bat.

Chameleon, Rhino, and Mysterio can't pose a realistic threat by themselves.

Kraven will only make it if they incorporate him with the Lizard or Vulture or some animal villain.

Poor Shocker just isn't popular enough (don't ask me why!).

Vulture would need some re-working.

This is why I believe that 3 more movies are overkill. You can definitely get one, and you can really try for two, but by the time you get the 6th movie, you're burned out.

Yeah....you bring up some pretty good points. The best villains and themes have probably been used. Lizard and Kraven is probably the best story left that can incorporate multiple villains and I hope it gets used. Its original and different and can make a great movie IMO. Although some of the others are rehashes, its just something that gets me tingling about seeing different actors such as David Morse playing Hobby that gets me excited. Some people are tired of seeing another Goblin or don't want to see another symbiote and would say Hydro is just too similar to Sandman but who knows there may be new and original ways of using them 2 or 3 movies down the line.

In my opinion, there are 4 villians that are cool & popular enough to carry some sequels, and they are:

The Lizard
Black Cat
Kraven
Electro

I could see like the Lizard & Kraven in 4, Black & Electro in 5, and then for 6, no idea. Maybe rally up the rest - Scorpion, Shocker, Rhino, Chameleon, Vulture, Mysterio, and Hobgoblin and do a version of the Sinister Six.

"Sins of the Father" could be another theme for a movie.Like when Uncle Ben was younger him and Adrian Toomes hung out,and Toomes ended up in jail because of Uncle Ben for some reason.

When Toomes gets out he finds out that Uncle Ben is dead,so Toomes makes Peter pay for the sins of his father(Uncle Ben).

Also Kraven goes after Dr.Connors son(Billy) and this makes Peter afraid that his son will be attacked by a villain some day.

The only way I'd agree to see another goblin is if Norman Osborn turned out to be alive and helped engineer the symbiote coming ot Peter, his son finding his equipment, etc. But even that feels as strained a storyline as it was when introduced in 1996.

No more goblins. Two is enough. Three would be overkill and make it look like the franchise is running out of ideas.

As I stated in another thread, I see one great Spidey movie left to tell. Peter taking on the responsibilities of an adult which includes going the next step with MJ, but afraid of what it may do to them as she has unspoken doubt and he sees what the Lizard has done to the Conner family. Introduce Kraven who has come to kill the rumored Lizard-beast of the sewers and instead gets obsessed with spidey after being bested by him. He captures, drugs and without a word essientially "kills" Spidey, by burying him alive in an unpenatrable box. It is up to MJ to find and save him so he can save Conners in time and cure him before Kraven kills the Lizard (who is a dangerous man-killing monster in its own right). This trial and tribulation would give Pete and MJ the strength to marry.

That is my idea, anyway. After that I think the series would have to try VERY hard to move forward.

Not really. Not really at all. You're under the mistaken (common) impression that marriage is the "end." I see three more movies for the Peter-MJ relationship, one is the Peter-and-MJ-together-arguing-all-the-time movie... another is the MJ-in-full-support-mode-they're-happy-and-Spidey-wouldn't-survive/keep-his-sanity-without-her movie... finally, there's actually space for a movie about a definite end to their relationship... what if Peter and MJ, in love since childhood finally realized they simply were not right for each other?

That's three stories to tell if you can step out of "happily ever after" mode... A marriage could happen ANYwhere in those three stories, it's irrelevant whether they're married or not, imho. There's plenty place to go with these actors, and these characters.

But No more Goblins please, and Lizard/Kraven sounds like an awesome storyline... I would employ Shocker, Stilt-Man, Boomerang and another two-bit guy as one-off montage-styled villains... that'd be cool... either that or running gags... maybe they're in a club. I would also hint towards Scorpion by having JJ Jameson hire Mac Gargan to divulge Spider-Man's identity.

Honestly, seeing Kraven pull off being Spider-Man is worth the price of admission. :) I would not have Spider-Man and Lizard team up against a normal human OR Ultimatized Kraven, I'd have Kraven and Spider-Man be forced to team up against The Lizard, even though Kraven's evil, and Connors is not, the Lizard would be out of control, and would HAVE to go down. This is of course after Kraven bury's spider-man alive and takes over his job. I think Connors' redemption should come when he revives a dying/dead Spider-Man... perhaps by turning him into Man Spider or something, who can't be stopped by anything but his love for MJ, who actually talks him down from that state... yeah.

There's plenty of space to grow in this franchise, without cancelling out all the great things about what we have here. I think Carnage as a wildcard supporting villain could be lots of fun. I think that Scorpion, Vulture and Electro's storylines offer a great deal of options as well, to say nothing of Chameleon, Rhino, Prowler, Shocker and a host of others as minor villains. Vulture is the kind of character who could conceivably get together a Sinister Six in Spider-Man 6. (Say, a coerced Sandman, a Scorpion (Ock arm as a tail with Goblin formula), Vulture himself, and three villains who survived the last two movies, maybe two survivors and a new villain).

Double postage. Ugh.

I agree no Kingsley/Macendale taking over Oscorp and becoming you know who... Am I the only one who noticed the bugle issue on Jameson's wall titles "Doc Ock still still large"... you are probably gonna say it was from SM2 if you disagree but it is obvious that they are open to bringing him back...

They had the paper with the Green Goblin up there too.

No its there to show continuity between the movies. That was same newspaper they used for SM2. Plus as someone already said, they had the GG newspaper too from the first movie.

My idea

Spider-Man 4 - Man-Spider

A piece of the symbiote at the construction site lives on and carries with it enough genetic information to reconstitute itself and Brock. Venom returns.

Meanwhile an old opponent of Harry's father, Silvermane, orders a local gang led by Roderick Kingsley (Dan, Montana and Ox in tow) to raid the estate of the late Harry Osbourne. Spider-Man however, is there to stop them. Silvermane tells his associates to detonate the, and all of them escape the explosion (Spider-Man as well) with the exception of Roderick who takes refuge in the testing lab. Underneath the rubble, Kingsley is exposed to the fumes becoming like the Green Goblins before him.

Mary Jane eventually landed acting work in between the films, as a "Hula Girl" on a reality TV show chronically the exploits of Kraven the Hunter, played by Bruce Campbell. Kraven is chauvanistic, and very much like Ash. In addition he has a thing for "hooking up" with his Hula Girls, especially the engaged Mary Jane.

Kingsley frees himself from the wreckage and salvages what he can from the glider, bombs and equipment. Hiding out in an abandoned playhouse he steals several items dawning a costume of a Goblin. Using his newfound strength and power he kills Silvermane and usurps his position as the head of the Enforcers.

Venom reborn, now with the lines between Brock and the symbiote almost extinguished, finds out that Dr.Curt Connors has been working on a piece of the symbiote, and has published several articles about a retro-virus that could potentially re-grow limbs. At the time however the effects are found to be cancerous.

Kingsley attempts a theft of the Daily Bugle to coax the Wallcrawler out into the open. They fight, and sadly for Kingsley, he fails miserably, severely over-estimating his own powers and abilities. He does however manage to get away, while the Enforcers do not.

On the rooftop that night Venom finds Kingsley. Venom asks what Kingsley name is, and he now names himself Hobgoblin. Venom says he has a plan to end Parkers miserable life by making his own Spider-powers work against him.

Kingsley, following Brock's plan, steals a sample of the retrovirus from Connors. In great villain fashion, Hobgoblin even tells the helpless Connors his (their) plan.

Kingsley stages yet another robbery, of a bank, this time with Brock posing as a hired thug. When Spider-Man gets there, much to his chagrin, Venom reveals himself. The two fight, and, admidst the confusion Hobgoblin shoots Spider-Man with the retrovirus. Spider-Man immediately lashes out in a rage at Venom, but not too long following he calms down and passes out allowing Venom and Hobgoblin to escape with the money. The Daily Bugle has a field day with the story.

Peter wakes up back at home with a visiting Doctor looking after him. The Doctor says his cold appears to be fine and leaves. Mary Jane said he had been out for two days. Peter says he is feeling fine, actually better than usual.

Later Peter is covering the making of the Spider-Man movie. Ben Reilly is in the starring role. He is a total jackass. Peter ends up in conversation with some annoyed fanboy in the crowd.

Across town Mary Jane is looking over Wedding dresses with Aunt May. Aunt May is giving her motherly advice about how she must stick with Peter even through the troubled times. Marriage is about committment.

Peter begins to lose control of his powers slowly. It first appears in Curt Connors lab when he cannot stop sticking to various equipment. Over the course of interactions with J.Jonah.Jameson, Mary Jane and even Aunt May Peter appears to becoming more moody, less intelligent, severely less intelligent, more primal, he starts to notice hair growing on his chest and so forth.

Finally his temperment, poor hygene, and slipping grades alert the attention of Curt Connors, who asks him to come by after class. Peter does. Peter has a debate with himself outside the office but finally resolves to tell Connors he is Spider-Man and what (he thinks) has happened. Connors immediately knows what has happened and tells Peter he needs to stay in his lab until he can find an antidote. His condition severely worsens overnight, growing eight eyes and hair all over his body. Peter tells Connors not to inform Mary Jane or Aunt May about his whereabouts to spare them the pain of seeing him like this.

Connors works furiously on the antidote, but one night in his lab the Man-Spider is born. He breaks out and immediately seeks out the residence of Aunt May. He breaks into her apartment, waking her from her sleep. He manages to slur her name, but she cannot bear the sight of this creature and suffers from Cardiac arrest. Mary Jane is called on set of Kraven and is told to come to the Hospital. Aunt May is alive, but barely.

Connors is waiting for Mary Jane at the Hospital and he informs her on what has happened. Connors tells her he in fact has created what he thinks is an antidote, just too late to stop this.

Connors brings Mary Jane back to the lab, he shows her the antidote. He asks her if she knows someone who could track down Peter and administer it to him. Begrudgingly she says yes.

Man-Spider is found roaming the sewer system by Venom and Hobgoblin. Venom feeds Man-Spider several mice until he is satiated, and then they lead him to the surface. In effort to get him to destroy everything he holds dear they unleash him on the set of Spider-Man:the Movie. He begins the raise caine, thrashing and destroying set pieces. Ben Reilly flees the scene.

Meanwhile Mary Jane and Dr. Curt Connors attempt to sway Kraven the Hunter to help them. After much bickering, Mary Jane tells Kraven he is a fraud, to save his ego Kraven agrees to help.

Kraven brings his dart gun and fills the darts with the antidote and Curt Connors lab. Curt Connors insists that he come along, but Mary Jane doesn't want him to get hurt and she and Kraven tell him to stay behind. As they leave Curt Connors spies a Iguana in a cage across the room and he looks down at the retrovirus he is holding in his hand.

Kraven and MJ get to the movie set where they find Peter has cacooned most of the staff and people present, including Ben Reilly who won't shut up. Venom and Hobgoblin, not feeling very threatened by the two, decide to let Man-Spider take care of them. The two "fight" Man-Spider, unfortunately Kraven is unable to hit Man-Spider with a dart, getting down to his last two before having the gun taken from him. Mary Jane picks up the gun and successfully fires the antidote into Peter. He changes back and passes out. Venom and Hobgoblin come down to their aid. Just then Curt Connors appears. He injects something into his arm. Nothing happens.

Venom throws Curt Connors into a pile of rubble and buries him there. He turns his attention back towards Kraven and MJ. Kraven tries to run but Hobgoblin stops him. Just then a giant Lizard creature wearing Connors lab coat comes out of the rubble and attacks Venom. He is easily equal to his strength and fighting prowess.

Meanwhile, while Hobgoblin and Venom fight the Lizard, MJ tries to wake Peter. Eventually she does and hands him a Spider-Man costume. Spider-Man swings into battle. He takes out the Hobgoblin first by knocking him unconscious. Parker then gets to the control panel for the sound system. He then lures Lizard and Venom next to the speakers. Spider-Man wisks Lizard away and then gives MJ and Kraven the sign to crank it. The sound blasts Venom, he begins to lose control of his form and is reduced to a puddle of black goo.

They get Lizard to a nearby alleyway but he starts to attack Spider-Man. Spider-Man takes off his mask and shows him the face of Peter Parker. Lizard weakly says Parkers name then passes out; Kraven shot him in the back with the last dart. Connors starts to revert back.

The cast and crew are freed. Reporters swarm the site. Kraven is heralded as a hero by the press. However in mid interview Kraven relents and tells them that it was in fact Mary Jane who stopped the Man-Spider.

One Month Later: Peter and MJ go to visit Connors at his home. He is their wife his wife and kids. He thanks Peter for saving his life, and Peter thanks Connors for saving his own. Connors says he has destroyed the retrovirus after seeing it's capabilities. Peter and MJ leave. Curt Connors goes down to his basement revealling a whole labratory set up to recreate the retrovirus.

We see MJ getting ready for the wedding, getting her dress on.

Peter meanwhile is visiting Rikers Prison. He walks into the Maximum Security portion using his press pass. There, across from each other are Roderick Kingsley and Venom. Roderick is in a typical cell while Venom is in a plastic cell with no doors or windows. Peter asks them when they’re going to reveal his identity to the world. Kingsley tells him he isn't going to, he'd rather see him squirm. The two villains start laughing as Peter leaves.

The last scene shows Peter and Mary Jane getting married.

Personally, I feel that Spidey 3 left two, no three, villains that are good for go in Spidey 4 and beyond.

The first, the most obvious choice if you really think about it, is Sandman. I mean, he's the only villian who wasn't OBVIOUSLY killed. He lived through it all, and left Pete away. Perhaps he'll have either a role like Harry did at the end of the movie OR be desperate enough to cross paths with Spidey again. I mean, it seems like an idea that makes sense.

Number 2 is the Lizard. The Lizard was one of my favs, and, since Conners has appeared so frequently, it is almost a given he would have a bigger role later on. I mean, the Lizard is a fan favorite at the very least.

Number 3 is Venom. I mean, Venom was awesome in Spidey 3, but, unlike Norman, Octavius, AND Harry, THERE IS NO BODY!!! He was reduced to a pile of still moving goo, and isn't that a dead givaway he isn't dead, no pun intended? Venom, if the directors see the potential in bringing him back (and it isn't too unrealistic; they are many ways they can do it), he'd be great at his objectives of vengance. I mean, later on you can bring Carnage into it, although I don't recommend it because Carnage would be restrained severly in the regards of brutallity.

Kraven and Hobs could make it, but if Hobgoblin, a THIRD Goblin, appears...God no! Keep Kraven! Vulture would be alright. Throw in Kane and the Jackle, but not Hobgoblin!

They are so many stories they can tackle from here on out: Clone Saga. Maximum Carnage. Morlun. The Sinister Six. The list goes on and on.

Number 3 is Venom. I mean, Venom was awesome in Spidey 3, but, unlike Norman, Octavius, AND Harry,
THERE IS NO BODY!!!
Thats because his body disintegrated, you see his skeleton for like a second.

Everyone seems to think Eddie got sucked into some dimensional poratal like TAS. Pity.

Guys, use spoiler tags. Not everyone has seen the movie yet, and this isn't the spoiler forum.

No...I was thinking more around the lines of regeneration, but...

Sorry bout the spoilers...kinda forgot it only just came out...

where do we go from here?

i believe Spidey needs a break for now. it's becoming more and more clear that Spidey 3 isn't the critical success that Spidey 2 was. the way Raimi ended part 3 made it almost impossible to make a part 4 that's better than 2 or more 'epic' than 3.

i think Raimi should move on but stay as producer. i understand that means we probably won't see another Spidey movie for a while and i know that means the cast won't be back, but i have to agree with Tobey when he says that Spidey 3 feels like closure. it feels like Raimi tried to tie everything together in a way that makes it impossible to do a more exhilarating sequel and it felt like Raimi, Tobey, and Dunst were losing steam.

i think they should wait 12 years and restart the franchise with even MORE faithful movies (Gwen & Goblin on top of the bridge, etc). by then hopefully they'll be brave enough to adopt Cameron's 3d technology (it'd be 8 years after Cameron's movie comes out) and we can see Spidey in 3d!
