Ok... we've been part of these dumb arguments before... Spidey wins because he has powers... Batman wins with prep time... blah blah blah...

So, in YOUR opinion... who wins... how? and why?

Let's please keep it civil...

Mike

I'd probably say Batman just because throughout the years Spider-Man has shown that he's been able to be outsmarted sometimes and Bats is the king of outsmarting people.

Spidey has been gullible on more than one occasion (way before a guy name Bendis came along).

They are both heroes. If they are fighting then it's because one of them has crossed the line for whatever reason. Whichever has crossed the line in that particular story will be the one to lose, but barely.

In a straight fight I'd go with Spider-Man due to his spider-sense.

In July I will give it to Batman because he has two established films and Spider-Man is starting from scratch.

Man what a loaded question! Do I win the Internets?

So when exactly is this fight happening? Like current Batman against current Spider-man or the movies versions or something?

Wolverine would appear and they'd all Eiffel Tower. :o

Spider-Man wins in all out battle with preparation from Batman or not...

I don't understand the purpose of these exercises. They're both close enough in terms of skill and formability that you could probably create hundreds of scenarios to reasonably justify either of them winning.

The purpose is to have fanboys & fabgirls to speculate on a potential battle between two beloved and well-liked super-heroes... I agree with you that any writer can make the battle go the way they want it to based on their story... BUT I'm merely asking what YOU think and HOW and WHY?

I think I touched these points in my initial post... you made the claim that they are both "close enough in terms of skill and formability", but based on that, who do you think would win?

And as far as the request to who is fighting whom, I would like to use comic book versions instead of the movie people...

Well, that's kind of the point. Without knowing the circumstances of the fight, it could be either of them. If it's just hand-to-hand combat it would be Spider-Man. But if there's more to it it could go either way.

Also, another issue is what constitutes winning. Like, say Batman is fighting Spider-Man, and Spider-Man is strong and fast and just plain overpowering him. And they're close enough to Metropolis, so Batman just gets on his JLA comm and says "Hey Clark, theres some super bug guy giving me a hard time, you mind popping over and kicking his ass?" Like, I'd consider that winning because Batman is using the resources at his disposal to not lose. But some people would say that's cheating.

Not if Batman has Catwoman kidnap Aunt May and throw her off a building to distract Spider-Man. :o

Then Batman and Catwoman would get a serious beatdown.

Batman has more skill than Spider-Man, but Spidey is a wayyy more formidable opponent. Spider Sense, ten times the strength of Bats, faster, webs which have a multitude of uses.

I don't think I've ever seen Spidey give anyone a serious beat down without at least 2 issues of whiny exposition to espouse his feelings on the situation.

So yeah, Batman would be back in a cave in Gotham by then. Probably polishing off a ménage with Catwoman and Silver St. Cloud.

I could give you issue numbers of where he's banged them separately. But not together yet. :(

I'll be sure to slip it into my first professional work for DC. :o

lol... that last bit made me think of being 8 years old and reading the first Spider-Man versus Superman book (I still have that copy... pretty beaten up on account that I read 50 billion times as a kid)... and Spidey whups Superman's ass when Luther secretly douses the arachnid with Red Kryptonite rays... it was awesome.

I'd like to think that neither would fight each other... recognizing that they both do good... though I can see Spidey antagonizing Bats because he knows he annoys him, and though Batman wouldn't like Spidey, I'd think he'd respect his scientific knowledge...

Without resorting to kidnapping loved ones, I have a hard time imagining Batman beating Spidey even if he had enough prep time...

But that's just me...

Did Bruce get to tap St-Cloud? I didn't think he got that far during the Engleheart run... and aside from the mini series he did with Rogers a few years ago, I have no idea if she's ever been in the books...

Kevin Smith had Bruce **** her for like weeks on end in his Widening Gyre mini.

The beauty of digital comics also allows me to instantly post a screencap of related events:

Hah.

I just imagined:

"Mother...father...I will avenge YOU!"

:(

Spider-man without prep. He is just too damn fast and his web is probably annoying as balls to deal with. Plus his spider-sense will help him out with dodging things, and he is really strong. With prep time... I'm gonna have to say Batman so I don't sound like a fan boy lol.
