Comics Spiderman & Obama

I never read the other stories but Get Kraven was a debacle.

I've read fan-fiction that was better (in fact, a lot better). Get Kraven was an abomination. The only reason Zimmerman had a job (and was being pimped EVERYWHERE... every Marvel comic seemed to have a back-up story or insert written by him), was because of his quasi-celebrity status (being a regular Howard Stern guest) and being chummy with Bill Jemas (remember THAT guy?) and Joe Quesada. I actually recall why he came to the Spider-Man message board. He was ragging on Paul Jenkins' Green Goblin arc in his blog (which had just been written at the time), and so everyone was laughing about the fact this hack was criticizing a guy who was ten times the writer he is (this of course, was back when Jenkins was good). Then Ron Zimmerman caught wind of this and went nuts... even on posters who simply asked him to "calm down" or even defended him. No one was safe from his wraith. The rest is history :yay: It's too bad the archives are gone now, because it was definitely lol-worthy.

Yeah, that's why he and i got into it. His Paul Jenkins insults. :cmad:

Judging on what you guys are saying, he definitely seemed to be going nowhere. Comic writers even get criticized for how they comb their hair and he couldnt handle it. Dance with the devil and you have to dance around the flames.

I didn't get past-I think-the second issue of Get Kraven. It was just ridiculous.

I am not a fan of the marriage. I was a mistake. I am also not a fan of the "deal," it was not true to Pete's character. I say reveal that MJ was a skrull and that SHE not Pete did the deal. That's why they were never married, as Pete was married to a skrull.

Ugh. NO.

Ok guys, enough politics. If you want to talk government, go to the Political forum. This thread is meant for discussing ASM 583. :yay:

Hard to keep a thread about a major political figure appearing in a comic book from turning political.
BTW-we were talking about other presidents appearing in comics. Bush was shown in "Avengers: Red Zone", talking to Cap. I just re-read it. I'll post some images when my scanner decides to stop acting stupid.

Vulture becomes a hero. *shudder*

That is the worst thing about the SHRA. There's no merit, no morality involved. You have faithfully protected the public for years but don't want to sign this piece of paper? Off to jail you go! You've murdered, robbed & tormented hundreds of innocent people? Sign this & we'll wipe the slate clean! You can even continue tormenting innocent people-just the ones we choose.

Hm, never thought of that. Yeah, whoever wrote up the SHRA didnt think it out too well...just like actual politics!:woot::csad:

Bush appeared in an issue of Cable/Deadpool during 'Civil War'. (Although it wasn't the most flattering depiction)

I just remembered Reagan was a giant snake in an old Captain America arc.

Ummm.... there must have been some good drugs going around the Marvel bullpen in the 80's. :cwink:

Thats surprising, considering how many people see Reagan as some golden god.

I have all six. I bought the first two, then I didn't go to my LCS for about two months, and the rest were put into my pull list. What a crap-tastic story.

lol.
Was he actually the main story in the issue or is he just stealing the front cover coz he's Obama?

Also I hope this is set in New York coz I don't like reading Spider-Man out side New York.

I've only just heard about this, I really want to get my hands on this asap haha

Good stuff!!

its a 5 page back up story spidey helps Obama stop the Chameleon from impersonating him. its pretty dumb and pointless. but Obama sells if you put his face on something.

ps this obama is going into its 5th printing.... I just got my John Romita one in the mail it cost me 12 bucks on ebay, the 1st printing Obama cover sold between 120-160ish on ebay thats crazy.

And the story is set in Washington, DC.

I cant believe its going into its 5th printing. It must be all speculators doing the buying now. I'm sure every fan that just wants to read the story has gotten a copy by now.

yeah i specifically wanted the Romita cover and my comic shop was out that day so I had to get it on ebay. I seriously hope comic shops were selling the 1st printing variant for like 100 bucks atleast to non comic regilars. I mean the frickin Ultimatum #1 variant with magneto sold for 75 bucks.

A couple of thing:
First off, why anyone in the comics world would want the Obama cover over the AWESOME Romita cover(aside from ebay purposes) is beyond me! It's JOHN ROMITA, PEOPLE!!!

Secondly, Obama is more trendy than Pokemon or YugiOh or whatever. He'll soon lose his shine after he's been in office for awhile...and then the books will lose a little value. It's the way of things....the way of the force...

*ahem*

Lastly....

....someone BOUGHT ULTIMATUM?!?!:wow:

sadly a lot of people did... remember when Jeff Loeb could write?

I remember a Long Halloween that led to a Dark Victory that made me Blue....other than that, I'll just Hush.

Seriously, I think Spider-Man Blue was the last thing he did that I actively enjoyed to the point of recommending it to other people.

He was good, but like a lot of great writers they never stop when they should have. example Chris Claremont who is one of my favorite writers should have stopped a long time ago but didn't and people have been waiting and waiting.
