World Spidey has had 7 animated shows

I'd say check some more sites dude. I still see tons of copies of it at Wal-Mart and Best Buy...But I'm not sure how they do things over there in the UK.:csad:

Well being a big Spidey fan, I can't simply say that there is any of them that I disliked or thought were campy.

Given the time periods for each, they matched the material... If that makes sense, it did in my head at least. I guess I'm saying they went with their times.

But if I'm going on a ranking system..

1. Spider-Man TAS--Still love watching them
2. Spectacular-- It could one day be my number one choice. But it's still early on, so far, I'm impressed.
3. MTV CGI- I loved it!! It was something new and always exciting to watch, the action and wit was great. That show even sparked some of my friends interest who know NOTHING about Spidey.
4. Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends- Grew up with this show when it was in rerun mode. Iceman is another favorite character of mine, so I enjoyed the dynamics between him and Spidey.
5. 60s- Obviously I wasn't born yet to watch this, but I did purchase them on DVD. And being a fan of the old days with Dikto, this was pure gold for me. I loved how they pretty much used the comics and cut out the mouths so they would move. And it spawned that catchy Spidey tune we all love to sing:cwink:
6- Unlimited- It was a fun take on Spidey for the short time it was on. I only saw about half the season on tv and later had to watch them on Youtube. It was a nice attempt to follow in the footsteps of TAS. I can't imagine what the other seasons would have been like if the opportunity was there.

As far as one that was in the 80s. I can't for the life of me think of one....Perhaps there was one and I just missed it. But from what I remember, Spidey and HAF was the only one I ever saw in the 80s.

Every decade has had their Spidey in animation..So I look forward to future incarnations of him...But I'm not saying I want Spectacular to end anytme soon.:cwink:

Aloha,
I'll have to go along with you except, I was around for the 60's cartoons and they were great for their time period.I think one of the reasons for the success of Spidey in the movies is that he has had such long standing exposure. So many people have grown up with some version of him on tv that he was a natural for the movies. Of course, script, acting and directing are key.
Spidey rules

He has had long standing exposure. The Macy's balloon, the terrible TV incarnations, AND the numerous 'toons all played a part. I don't think any superhero has had more animated series than he has.

First I do kind of like the Iron Spider-man look...not so much with the 3?? legs...

I have a bit of trouble distinguishing between Amazing Friends, and the one later in the 80's But I am pretty Sure I like Amazing Friends more, cause I have vivid memories of Iceman.

so I will give that #1, And Give a Presumptive #2 to the other 80's series.

I own the 60's Series on DVD, and really love it, so that will get a #3

Another series I really enjoy is the MTV series, I liked the Animation and emotions in the stories. So it has to be #4

I have not seen much of the others, I did see the first couple episodes of the current series, and was not impressed

thats how you can distinguish them amazing friend had the spider-friends the other was a SOLO series:spidey:

if the mtv series had the characters and story available that spectacular did and wasn't so tied to the film, and some better character designs (for harry and MJ), it could have easily have been the best.

ock in it with have been awesome. Still probably the best overall web swinging of all shows.

spidey was actually funny

I really enjoyed the MTV, the fluid motion of the characters was lovely. Had the format and writing of Spectacular been giving the MTV treatment, I'd had no place to say the swinging looks crap.

I wished MTV gave Spider-Man an second season or at least a one hour show to clear up the cliff hanger at the end of season one when he toss his suit into the river. As for the other Spidey shows Spider-Man and his amazing friends and Spider-Man: TAS were the two shows I followed the most growing up.

I later figured that out, actually.
And I disagree; I think it's actually worse.

1. 90's TAS
2. Spectacular
3. Amazing Friends
4. MTV's
5. 60's
6. Unlimited
7. 80's (its last cause I can't remember it at all)

Seems most of the people on this thread don't remember it.

being mostly seen as special bonus features on marvel videos would do that

The "Spectacular" theme song is actually starting to grow on me.

TAS. I've seen other Spider-Man cartoons but this one was the best. Considering the circumstances this was the best SM cartoon ever made. The voice acting with the script was incredible, contrary to what say. The animation was best too,I now know that people confuse SSM in many ways, but this is the best.
