Hey Justin.. I'll post some close up pics when it's done. Just keeping it under wraps for the moment. I'd hate to spoil the unveil. :)

Brad.

Brad, Ive been trying to get in touch with you about buying some of your custom masks. P.M. me back please when you can. BTW the reboot suit above looks great! Cant wait to see it

ok i understand i know it will be kick ass like the rest of them:)....if/when this movie costume takes off because it seems 50/50 at the moment do you have ideas for the mes and webbings ?

i have seen teh post about finding running shues that look about dead on and the web shooters are an easy cnc job to me the fraims look sculpted again but with the larger mesh taht we all used in the begining any thoughts on that ?

For me the red parts still look like a red latex mesh over red lycra.
The frames for the lenses can be sculpted and recasted in resin or something else.
But the larger mesh... will it really be gold? Should be possible. Best view through it should be a golden window tint with holes in it.

I'll be dye-subing the whole suit initially. Might look at making screens from the different layers at some point down the track but then you're locking yourself into one average size unless multiple size screen are made.

thats a lot of work for a suit its one thing to take a commision job and do all of that but for the average cosplayer i see that being costly and not really having it be worth the time and effort

but on the other side i say hell yess do it because it seems like a kick ass project

Just remembered I forgot to post this here: Copypaste from the RPF

Proof of concept:
Scour mesh over lycra, with a layer of latex on top.
In this case, I'm using Tulip's "slick" fabric paint.

Elasticity in the red is *significantly* decreased, however... It does still stretch a bit. If this was the raimi suit, I don't think this method would be viable... but since the reds in the Amazing Spiderman are minimal, I think it could work.

At least, I'm going to proceed with some more variations on the technique to see what results/ Improvements I may yield.

BRRogers, have you been experimenting with just the scour mesh or have you tried it with a mesh shirt or just normal mesh fabric? I know it would be more expensive to use those materials, but it would maybe help with the stretch issue.

The scour mesh was the most accessible to me for testing purposes... However I find that the honeycomb pattern is more or less ideally sized for receiving the latex, whereas a stretch lycra mesh or jersey mesh (being thicker), might appear too dense after a latex coating.
That's just conjecture on my part though, I would still like to test it on a variety of meshes.

On the elasticity: stretch is effected by the absorption of latex into the lycra fabric, it does not have so much to do with the mesh put on top of it.
Like I said though, I could see the correlation between the way they sized the reds and the amount of stretch on the AS Suit as being a problem/solution based off of this technique. Knowing hollywood though, they probably used a custom silicone covering and not just 'latex covered mesh'.

Here's a few picture throught these lenses...

Brad

Thanks man :) ...Is that a certain type of mesh or something..? Close ups of the Raimi suit had some visible texture in the eye lenses.

Sorry if I'm noobing up the place. xD

If i would like the new suit, i would try to make the mesh out of latex and glue it with liquid latex to the lycra. I guess, the stripes of the latex should be fine enough to be flexible.

But like i said once or two times before: I still don't like the new suit.
So i better go on with my next raimi suit :)

Hey guys, Ive been looking for a good spiderman mask. Ive gotten in contact with brad from spidey4fun, I really like his masks but can you guys tell me who else makes replica mask and there websites if they have one. Thanks alot. Im just weighing my options if i have any. lol

I'm trying to figure out if I should by annoyed that they used my photo without asking...
At least it's not anything important, but still...

What the heck is happening with his suit here? Is the blue attached to the.... and the zippers... and... ... what is going on?!

I'm just guessing but it looks like the blue is attached to the pants kinda like overalls , and the top of the suit is hanging over that,

hey guys I'm working on trying to create the new suit. but I'm having a hard time matching up the head lines. since the head has 5 pieces it is confusing me, any tips on figureing out how to line them up.

Looking good... but we're all waiting on clearing pics of the webbing.

This time it seems, that the design of the webbing on the mask is really different and you need really clear pics to copy it

I made a fast try to redraw the lines.

what do you guys think of this ?

would the outlines i have match the current patterns for suits ?

Looks close but hard to tell if it's right. I guess it all depends on how accurate you want to be.

for me it doesnt have to be exactly movie accurate, i just want the lines to line up, and look pretty close.

I recently bought a costume kit from spideyplanet. And if possible, does anyone have any tips for gluing on the webs and eyes? Thanks!:woot:

Loctite All Plastics is your best bet. ... Bunnings Hardware. When you glue the eye frames on make sure the mask is on a mannequin head and line up the top back part of the frames with the webbing. The rest just kind of works itself out.

Ahh, ok thanks! also brad, is it possible to buy the mesh you use for your frames? If so, how much would they cost? :oldrazz:
