One of my all-time favorite manga and Asian movies being brought over to America remade by Spike Lee? You had me at God no...
Sure. Nobody should touch Oldboy, though. Ever.
Come on... Psycho was remade.Sure. Nobody should touch Oldboy, though. Ever.
^exactly i never understood thisIt's not untouchable. It's not like Old Boy is Akira. It is very translatable to US audiences. I have no problem with Hollywood remaking foreign language movie (unless it's very personal to that culture like Akira) because let's face it, many people in America do not like watching foreign language movies. There are millions who haven't heard or seen Old Boy because it's a foreign language movie. Other countries remake our movies in their language, why is it such a big deal when Hollywood does it in an effort to introduce a story to a wider range of American audiences.
Spike Lee is a great director who has proven that he can make quality movies. The cast is good too. I have confidence that this movie will be good.
Anyone who has a problem with subtitles is a moron.
Harsh? Perhaps.
Still true.
You could have said that about any classic story.
And how many people outside of a niche even know what Oldboy is? Over here, anyways.
Come on... Psycho was remade.
Anyone else think that if they remake 1 from the trilogy, they should make all three?

It's not untouchable.

I can see if Lee was casting Kevin James in the role, but it's Brolin. That alone warrants more than a fair amount of interest.
