Splinter Cell: ConViction

Well, as with the 360 version...it depends on some of the choices you made.

Like Lambert...he may or may not be dead, depending on the decision you made in the game.

But, in the 360 version....you could decide, not literally...but still you chose it....if wheter or not Enrica lived or died. Once she gets killed, it's like she didn't even matter either.

Whereas in the XBOX version she dies at the end, when you're fighting Emile.

Enrica gets killed by a Splinter Cell, actually. One of the Co-Op looking ones, too. Sam finds her body and screams in agony, and then we see the Splinter Cell looking around the snow covered rooftop, and Sam pops up out of the snow from hiding and slits his throat. Then, he cuts out the ear implant that has his com link and tells himself that it's time to find out if he really is a shadow...and then he's on the run.

Overally...it was alot more kickass than the 360 version. I'll try and find a video online, now.

I did enjoy the XBOX version of DA a lot more than the 360 version

Yeah, me too.

I didn't even think about buying it just because I thought it'd be an uglier version of the 360.

But, it's a very different game. Mostly darkness filled levels, like usual. A much longer prison escape as well. More co-op type feel to some of the levels in how you intereact with certain friendly npc's, like Hisham and Enrica. And the final fight actually feels like a final boss battle, whereas I thought the final battle in the 360 was a little...anti-climatic.

The subway level was pretty cool too. So was the punishment scene that was put down on Sam and Enrica. And, the ending too. Was nice and smoothly told.

The 360 version had an abrupt ending. Same as Pandora Tomorrow...and surprise, surprise the same team worked on that one that worked on the 360 version, and both had endings that...well, you weren't sure if it just ended or if there was something left out that was missed.

I keep these things in mind when I know that ConViction is being made by the guys who have made the best Splinter Cell games. Splinter Cell 1, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and DA for the Xbox were made by the team that's currently making ConViction.

That's honestly what's keeping me from jumping ship, the fact that those guys haven't disappointed me yet.

I thought the final boss fight against moss turned out alright on the 360 version, if you ended with emile I agree it was abrupt, but I liked the fight against moss.

I dunno...I thought the exploding ship was pretty cool. But, I probably would have loved it more if the Emile showdown had been down well.

That extra bit felt like a great add-on level, a great Epilogue chapter.

Btw, I found this from http://www.fisherists.com/tfs.php?p=main

I emailed David Ginsberg, Ironside's manager, on the issue as it relates to Splinter Cell. The info I received from him counters that from the website saying Ironside has been replaced. Here is the statement I received.

"thank you for your email. there are plenty of rumors circling but the truth is that Ubisoft is still working on the script/game and that there has been no conversations about Michael as of yet, casting may not even begin until later this year. as far as any rumors about ego and being difficult to work with, it couldn't be more incorrect. in fact those that have worked, produced and recorded with him had a great time and enjoyed his professionalism as well. there was nobody at Ubisoft who said anything otherwise - those are all fabricated rumors, and they unfortunately hurt both Ubisoft and Michael. those who report and publish rumors do nothing more than spread falsities without checking facts.

thank you again and we (including Michael) are very appreciative of your concern."

That might be what is delaying it, I could see sony b****ing about how it was only on xbox and wah wah wah. Just like what they did with GTA4 and I'm still alittle mad about sony taking all of their movies off of the netflix cue for the 360.

Yeah...they've got a habit of doing that. I remember hearing that GTA4 was ready and polished for the 360, but needed to be in waiting longer b/c the PS3 version was ready yet.

I honestly think that they're rethinking ConViction, atleast on the gameplay.

There's been a massive backlash from diehard fans who were already pissed off about alot of aspects in DA for the 360.

I really can't wait for Sam to get his spiky hair look back, and start working for the government again, really. They just need to find a way to keep the villians and the main stoay interesting without having to make Sam the story himself. That's all, I think.

Yeah, he needs to be working for the government again and Ironside has to be the voice. Fact.

Eh i dont think Sony blocked their movies intentionally, it was probably a license issue that had remained before this update happened. Im sure itll all be worked out.

As for ConViction, yea i think its being completely redone, the whole Jason Bourne thing, i was excited to see, but i just want the gameplay that made Splinter Cell what it is today. Maybe this next Splinter Cell can be Sam Fishers swan song, the way Metal Gear Solid 4 was for Solid Snake.

You really think Ubisoft would delay it for 2 years bc of Sony? They'd release it on the 360 and then go and develop it on the PS3 and release it a few months to a year down the road like many other piublishers have had done

Me too. Me too.

I think Sam's got alot left in the tank, still. If they chose to, that is.

Really, Sam's always had alot left in the tank...the problem was that the writing just couldn't live up to the potential until DA. Sam is way too interesting a character to not be able to carry a few more games himself. Same with Snake, doesn't even matter WHICH Snake it is...the character himself is too cool to not be able to carry more games himself.

The problem was looking at ConViction, is just seemed to become something else.

More than any other game, I think, Splinter Cell has actually sorta suffered from the fear of getting stale. Whereas most other games keep doing the same trick until everyone gets tired, Splinter Cell tries to keep things fresh when it can still try the same trick one or two more times.

I just want a game similar to Pandora Tomorrow story wise, with some co-op from Chaos Theory. God i loved that co-op.

Now they've taken it online and killed all the story and fun out of it.

For what it's worth, the Xbox version of DA does have Co-op. Alot like Chaos Theory's.

Sony didn't cry about GTAIV being only on the Xbox since it was a multiplatform game from the get go. As a matter in fact, Sony had the oppourtunity to have it a timed exclusive for their console but didn't want to fork over the cash.

Not only that, but Rockstar has come out and said that both the PS3 and 360 have their issues when it comes to development. It was the PS3's technical difficulties when it comes to development and the 360's storage issues that caused the delay on GTAIV.

and I'm still alittle mad about sony taking all of their movies off of the netflix cue for the 360.
Can you really blame them? It's kinda common sense that Sony wouldn't want THEIR movies on a competitor's console.

Well i thought the online, co-op component in CT worked great along side the main story. I thought it was a cool touch when the agents actually communicated with Fisher and vice versa.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/135510/grand_theft_auto_4s_delay_ps3s_fault.html

It was mainly sony's ps3 platform that caused GTA4 to be released so late, and If I'm paying netflix to watch sony movies then it shouldn't matter what I'm watching them on, next thing you know sony is going to make it so you can't watch the dvd's on the 360.
