Splinter Cell: ConViction

http://www.pcworld.com/article/135510/grand_theft_auto_4s_delay_ps3s_fault.html

It was mainly sony's ps3 platform that caused GTA4 to be released so late,
That article states what Pachter believed to be the case, not what was actually the case.

It was the challenges of developing for the PlayStation 3 along with the Xbox 360's storage issues of using DVD and cramming it into one disk and the lack of a hard drive on some models (and to allow those that don't have 360 models with hard drives to play it with no problem).

To blame it on just Sony is downright foolish.

and If I'm paying netflix to watch sony movies then it shouldn't matter what I'm watching them on,
You can still get Sony movies, just in the traditional way of ordering NetFlix movies and on other platforms such as On Demand, PCs, and Macs. Why the hell would Sony want their movies to appear on a competitor's system? Especially one that is not engaged in friendly competition at the very least (with Sony and Microsoft constantly antagonizing each other, and Microsoft taking traditional PlayStation franchises such as Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Grand Theft Auto, Devil May Cry, etc).

Having Sony's properties on the Xbox 360 is like having Halo on the PlayStation 3.

Sony owns the movies they removed from Xbox's NetFlix. Not NetFlix and not yourself. They can do whatever the hell they want to do with the content.

next thing you know sony is going to make it so you can't watch the dvd's on the 360.
Impossible.

Seriously dude, you're *****ing for the sake of *****ing.

It's ******ed though Hippie, I can't watch a Sony movie on Netflix on my XBOX, but I can watch it on my PC, that runs Windows.

PlayStation doesn't compete with Windows and Sony themselves make PCs that run on Windows.

The vast majority of computers still run on Windows, so it would be downright stupid to ignore that.

PlayStation on the other hand, a Sony product, competes with Xbox 360, a Microsoft product.

The Sony movies not being able to be played on the 360 will shortly be a non issue. We are already seeing a large number of Sony owned movies showing up in ppls 360 Netflix queue. I dont think the license problem was anything intentional.

You should have seen the reaction at Gamespot when the news of no Sony movies initially broke. When it turned out that it really was just over some paperwork that hadn't been sorted, I think that there were actually fanboys on both sides of the issue who were disappointed. After all, they had spent roughly 3 days arguing about it, only to have all of their "work" be "wasted." :whatever:

As are you

Sony's Netflix library (mostly) available on NXE

But feel free to beat a dead horse

Edit: If you don't buy that link since it has "xbox360fanboy" as the main URL, here's another article from Kotaku

Any way we can stop this pointless Sony vs MS debate???

Why ppl feel they have to defend Sony/MS, ill never understand.

:woot:

Yeah I noticed the other day that most of the sony movies in my netflix list were starting to appear, and the arguement wasnt completly pointless, kept me from going insane sitting here at work doing nothing.

Haha, whatever helps the day go by man.

Ya know...I had no real idea as to the differences between a PS3 disc and a 360 disc until reading up on what it would take to port Metal Gear Solid 4 to the 360.

Something like...what, 3 or 4 discs spread out on 360 discs to get all the content that's on that one blu-ray PS3 game disc?

I mean, it would make sense if that is true, for game developers to still have a hard time working with the PS3 hardware. It's slightly confusing for me, because it seems they have MORE than enough space to work with...but I'm guessing it has to do with glitches, crashes, etc.

MGS4 takes up a full 50gb BR. It would take more like 6 Xbox 360 discs to cover that. Not practical at all and they'd have to compress the hell out of it to get it on 3 or 4 discs. Bc of MS' liscenscing fees, developers often do not like to use multiple discs. Definetly would be a porting nightmare. The work and money involved may not be worth it to Konami if they dont feel they'd get a return on that.

Economics and Kojima's insistence that MGS4 being a PS3 exclusive are what is keeping Konami from making a 360 version of MGS4.

Putting MGS4 on the 360 is more than just a mere port job. They would actually have to change and remove scenes from the game ([blackout]Psycho Mantis would probably have to be removed entirely[/blackout], the iPod would probably be changed to a Zune, etc.). They would have to compress the game on to many disks like you said and no company that is not Microsoft is going to want to make a game that takes up more than 2 disks. And the longer the 360 version is released from the PS3 version, the more the general gaming public will probably be less interested in it.

It just isn't worth the effort, especially when the 360 makes up a very little portion of Konami's revenue.

They'd be better off making a 360 exclusive, with it being some self-contained game.

It seems it would take less money, and less time to do so.

Wow...6 discs? Wow.

The visuals would have to be scaled down considerbly, I'm imagining too...because from the screens I've seen, MGS4 seems to push the visuals to the blu-ray max.

Well the blu ray is just for space, the visuals aren't any better because its on that format. Saying the game would release on 6 disc's is also a stretch, iv never heard anything more than 3, but thats a diff discussion, b/c for the last page and a half this thread has been nothing but Sony v. Microsoft version 234567.

Anyone still play Chaos Theory for the orig Xbox?? I was thinking of taking it online again if anyone still played the game.

Yeah, I sometimes play it. I've never tried the online for it though.

I'm currently playing it again, but I've never touched any of the multiplayer or co-op

everybody screams in my face how the 3rd one is one of the greatest games ever and how im dumb for not having it....f u for screaming at me.

It's a very good game, even though I can never get 100% in the Bathhouse mission.

Oh man, the Co-OP was SOOOO good. I mean take everything you love about the single player and add a partner. Its really really really fun. If you have a partner who knows what they are doing everything just works perfectly. One person creates the distraction while another quietly sneaks up behind em for the stealth kill. If any one of you feels like giving the co-op a go, let me know, ill play. It really is incredibly fun!

I don't have a credit card, so I'm happy with silver

I'm not playing Chaos Theory again. No matter how hard I try, I can't get 100% in the Bathhouse level. I can go undetected through most of the level. There's a point when things go to ****.

I get in the crawlspace just enough to start people talking and back up to avoid possible detection. I shoot a sticky cam through the vent going to the hallway to make sure no one is there when I attempt to cross. I roll across the same hallway to the room before the showers. I throw a smoke grenade to cover my entering the room, then another to cover my leaving. I crawl over the fence to avoid possible detection if I pick or break the lock. After I disarm the first bomb, I sticky shock the first guard and hide him next to the pipes I went behind to the first bomb. After the second bomb is disarmed, I climb up to the walkway, sticky shock the second guard and the third guard as soon as I see just a sliver of him. After the third bomb is disarmed, I knock out the fourth guard with the door.

And yet, I can only get 97% (1 detection) :cmad:

It took me a while but I finally got 100%.

Just to be sure, I chose the weapon option that gave me 3 smoke grenades. Everything went perfect to the room where Shetland arms the bombs. To try something different, I shot a sticky cam at the wall where the first right turn on the walkway is. Disarmed the bomb, sticky cam the first guard, hide him and disarm the second. I then sticky shocked the second and used my sticky cam to distract the third. I climbed up the pipe and stayed in shadows to sticky shock the third guard. From this point, everything was the same.

Finished the mission and got 100%. So either that other smoke grenade covered up a possible detection or I kept getting detected when I was sticky shocking the third guard on the walkway as soon as I saw him.
