The Dark Knight Spoilers and Speculation

Okay, seeing as how the thread that one guy started about how people think the TDK story will go got locked (with this thread's existence as rationale) I'll throw this in here though I think it's at least slightly worthy of its own thread.

The locked thread asked people, "What is The Dark Knight's story?"

I'd like to see people take it one step further and try to place the scenes we know about into a flowing narrative. I think it'd be interesting to see where everyone thinks each scene fits and what they'd fill in the gaps with. In other words, tie together these facts/supported speculations and plot the film out!

I'd give it a shot but I'm at work now and probably shouldn't spend too much time figuring out how everything fits in. :woot:

It's not a bad idea... hopefully I'll give it a shot, but there is still a lot we don't know and since this thread is big on the FACTS and that is the reason Turtle made it... make sure you indicate you are speculating based on the confirmed information. When I get a moment, I might try this as well, should be interesting.

Well here's my shot at it, I think most of this has been confirmed to be in the film, some of it may be old debunked rumors, and I'm sure I left some out:

The movie starts out with Scarecrow meeting with the Chechen gang for a drug deal involving Scarecrow’s fear toxin. Vigilantes disguised as Batman disrupt the deal, causing a small gunfight. The Batman comes crashing down on Scarecrow’s van, capturing Joker and the gang members for the Gotham police to take care of.
After this, scenes establishing Maroni as the new boss of the Falcone family, as well as scenes involving other gangs, such as Gamble’s, the introduction of Harvey Dent will take place. Rachel Dawes and Dent go to the Opera, only to find it has been cancelled for the night. This is where the scene reintroducing Bruce Wayne and Alfred takes place. They are at a private party for the cast of the Opera on Bruce’s yacht.
The infamous bank robbery scene, with the Joker and his goons, and the following escape and police chase. Joker gets away, but is scarred.
Batman goes to investigate the robbery with Lt. Gordon, but comes to a dead end.
More vigilantes running wild in Gotham. Dent starting his case against Maroni and the gangs of Gotham City. Could be a good place for more scenes involving Dent and Rachel’s relationship. The batman impersonators cause Commissioner Loeb to put a warrant on the real Batman. Somewhere a scene with Rachel and Bruce, as well as more of Batman/Bruce Wayne investigating the Joker. Also, scenes establishing Mike Engel and his obsession with Wayne.
Dent promises the mayor a crime-free 18 months. A hanging fake batman bangs against the mayor’s window, causing chaos.
The Joker goes on a crime spree, killing many cops, mobsters, and citizens. Batman and Joker fight, Joker throws acid on batman. Gordon goes to Loeb and fakes his own death.
Lucius Fox’s Wayne Enterprises is broken into. Wayne brings the extradited Lau to Gotham City.
More stuff involving Engel, Wayne, Fox, and a detective named Reese. Also, more mob related happenings and faux batmen. Engel promises to reveal Batman on T.V, but the Joker makes a bomb threat.
Gordon comes back; Loeb is killed by the Joker. At Loeb’s funeral, the Joker tries to kill the Mayor but he is saved by Gordon. He is still rushed to the hospital.
Joker blows up the hospital.
Maroni and many gang members are arrested due to Gordon and the Gotham PD.
On television, Dent announces that he is Batman.
There is a party held by Wayne which Dent and Rachel are present. The Joker crashes the party in order to kill Dent. Batman saves him and the Joker takes Rachel hostage. He dances with her while holding a knife to her throat, then leaves with her.
The Joker kills Rachel, but is caught by Gordon. Batman comes in to interrogate Joker, who reveals nothing. Batman leaves, and the Joker escapes due to a bomb planted in someone’s stomach.
Dent is scarred in court, he is rushed to (another?) hospital.
The climax, with the evacuation and the citizens of Gotham being loaded onto barges, along with the fight between Batman and the Joker in which Joker is either killed or captured.
It is announced that Dent has gone missing from the hospital.
Gordon is promoted to Commissioner.
Gotham is safe again thanks to Batman.
The final scene with Dent/Two-Face in the bar.

Oh cool post them here! :meow:

(Teeheehee!!!)

When do you think we will see pictures of Two Face?

I dont think we'll get any, I mean the guys only at the end of the movie for about 15 minutes. I her Batman stops him from killing the Joker, but yah never no eh?

so where in the hell are ya'll getting these segments of the script and all of these plot details? Is turtlefocker chris nolan himself...and if so, why does he fock turtles?

I'm sure there is a logical explanation to it...

I originally planned on the first post in this thread to place these events in chronological order but found it impossible. Despite all the information we have I was unable to fully connect the dots. You seem to have a gift with this sort of thing so I look forward to reading your view of the order these events happen in the film.

The main purpose of this thread is for posting new facts so that we can keep track of what is happening in TDK but I do encourage people to post there speculations based on the facts. This is a rather vague statement though....

i think the joker won't get killed but mabye should to make it more exciting in the classic good guy VS bad guy vibe

^ TDK will end on a tragic note. Joker will win, in a sense. Good not does always prevail. haw

It'll be like ESB were the bad guys win.

I hope to hell that's how it ends. Nolan has stated that "its going to get worse before it gets better". I'm hoping by the end of TDK Joker is in Arkham but Gotham is still messed up and for the third film as the ending to the trilogy Batman brings some order back. Not completly mind you but some order.

TDK has got to end with BM and Gordon talking on the rooftop near the Bat-Signal, only instead of some speach about escalation we get dialogue about Two-Face, maybe they could cut to the bar scene, then cut back to Gordon and BM, when a huge explosion goes off in the distance(possibly a Joker escape) *credits*

Killing Joker is a bad idea because it'd be more interesting having him alive so he could escape later in the third film.

What if at the end of the movie in a bar you see a customer sitting on a bar stool as the bartender is cleaning up.The customer on the stool has his head lowered as he keeps flipping a coin and keeps saying heads or tails depending on which side the coin lands on.

The bartender walks over to the door to put the closed sign on the door, and looks over to the customer sitting on the bar stool. The bartender says to the customer come on buddy it's closing time. The customer keeps flipping his coin, and keeps saying head or tails every time he flips the coin.

The bartender is getting annoyed, and walks over to behind the bar and faces the customer and says, come on pal,it's time for you to head out.

The customer keeps flipping the coin, and keeps saying heads or tails as the coin lands. The bartender looks at the coin and gives a little smile as the bartender says to the customer heads you head out,and before the bartender can say tails, the customer says and tails I kill you.

You see the coin land on tails, and the bartender looks up at the customer as the camera shows Two Face pointing a gun at the bartender and the screen goes white from the flash of the gun and fades to black as the credits go by.

Rachel Dawes and Dent go to the Opera, only to find it has been cancelled for the night. This is where the scene reintroducing Bruce Wayne and Alfred takes place. They are at a private party for the cast of the Opera on Bruce’s yacht.

I think it woudl be good if it was the opera house his parents died in and after talking to Dent and Rachael he slips away to the alley and stands at the spot and we see a young him stood over his parents transparently or something as he remembers the night and then, they fade away when Alfred comes.

This whole subplot with the reporter trying to find out Batman's identity kinda annoys me. Is there a need?

Alexander Knox was meant to be like that in the original script. I hope it plays better.
