The Dark Knight Spoilers and Speculation

Don't forget to include joker escaping because of the fat man with the bomb from the sides and the WW footage... (Christmas lights...)

I was going to add this when I originally made the thread but decided against it becuase of one small problem I see with the theory.

If joker takes the time to implant a bomb in one of his thugs stomach that means he PLANNED on being arrested at some point. (he had an elaborate way out)

Maybe im reading to much (or not enough) into this info.

In the Brian scene.....the voice says "Tell THEM your name". We know Joker is doing broadcasts and we know he's trying to make an example of the Batmen. He's got Brian on TV. It's the Joker.

Anyway why the hell would you give a scene like that to Scarecrow? He's a chump in this movie. Two-Face? well he'll come into play towards end, he's after Maroni and bent cops and the vigilante sub-plot is gonna peak in the middle of the movie, not at the end.

Exactly, I've been trying to figure it out as well... I mean he'd have to have been planning on getting arrested or he'd have to have a device to SET off the bomb and that also seems improbable.

Precisely why I did not put it in the original post.

I'm glad to see that I am not the only one who found this stomach-bomb-escape thing "fishy" :cwink:

And if anyone can figure out what is going on with it, it's you TromaFreak64.

Your points are legit... it sounds like he is having Brian talk to a camera or someone else... thus putting little wait on the fact that it is Scarecrow.

However there is the possibility this scene takes place right at the beginning of the film, when Brian appears as the fake Batman first on the scene, and Scarecrow captures him and sprays him with fear gas and has the conversation in front of the buyers...Before the other fake Batmen show up.

Is this likely, NO! Since the interrogator seems to be aware that there are FAKE Batmen. And it seems pretty clear from the other sides that Batman first learns of the impostors presence during the Scarecrow seen and he'd likely have as much if not more knowledge on the city he patrols than Scarecrow.

However until we get a LITTLE more evidence, we should probably hold back on saying it is the Joker for sure.

Just to make other people aware, we know the bomb scene appeared in the WW footage, but we still don't know the circumstances that surround it yet, we are only speculating, until more info comes along... we are just assuming too much.

I need to go back and look at the scenes, but I looked back and saw where someone said it was Ramirez who called Barbara not Dent... I need to double check that I guess....

Yeah i guess

If you've Gotham Central Soft Targets I think the scenario in TDK might be very similar with the city's evacuation and Jokers arrest. It's misdirection.

In Gotham Central Joker goes on sniping spree that forces the evacuation of Gotham at Christmas, THEN he purposely gets himself arrested so police attention will be focused on him in the interrogation room. Citizens return to Gotham thinking it's safe, it's all over, but now they have to cram their last minute Christmas shopping. But Joker real plan was to get set a bomb in toy store that he knew would be crowded with shoppers.

So in TDK, while the police are cleaning up the scene of the truck crash and the massacre and are relieved to have the Joker in custody, the ferry crisis suddenly takes them by surprise. They scramble to the wharves. Then the police station explodes, understaffed. Chaos! maybe.

Yeah i guess

So in TDK while the police are focused on Joker the ferry crisis takes them by suprise, maybe.

I mean all of this seems VERY likely, but we just need more to go on than a theory... and some of us HAVE in fact considered this... knowing the Joker is seeking ATTENTION in this.

However it all raises more questions, we know around scene 260 they are looking to reveal Wayne's identity, and if the recent reports from extras are true, the Joker is going to somehow broadcast or call in with a plot to steal attention with his bomb scenario... and we know they are in fact looking for bombs in the city by scene 303... now this might all be a plot that is carried out WHILE Joker is in prison... maybe thats even WHY he needs his call in the one side. I mean, like you said, we have resources and reasons to support this theory, and maybe him escaping is the end of the film and people have it backwards that the semi chase takes place WHEN he escapes... but we can't confirm any of this - it just makes a lot of sense. We really just need more to go on, but all are excellent points.

So that was correct,

Barbara gets Ramirez's call giving her Dent's instructions

Well yeah everything's best guesses and theories. but we get closer as get more info.

i do think we can be certain Joker is arrested after the semi chase. the truck flips, joker walks in the street with an machine gun, batman or the SWAT get him and then reporters question Dent at the scene. We saw the video ("Mr.Dent whose plan was it that lead to the Jokers arrest....")

but yeah while joker is in jail it's a perfect opportunity for shiiit to go down somewhere else. Whether the evacuation is still happening, or yet to begin, or the ferries come attention, candy factory blows, whatever, while it's all happening, Joker escapes. Very likely :joker:

The ferry scene sounds like it would require a toss of a coin to decide which one to save...

You know all these threads wouldn't exist if we have the script already.

This isn't just a thread, this is THE thread. Years from now when people talk about a thread they'll say "It's hot but not as hot as the night Johnny Viti got married."

or you know something like that...

Odd comments - we all know that it the Joker who creates the fake batmen to bring batman into disrepute - didnt u get the memo

Quick question. Where are TDK script sides? I constantly hear about e'm, where do you find them?

If no one else has offered: Send me a private message with your email address and I will send the sides.

I mean, I think it's Scarecrow in the scene... but saying people aren't supposed to be SCARED to look at Joker doesn't seem right. This scene IS joker...

INT. BANK - DAY

The MASK-WEARING THUG stuffs cash into his bag as the wounded BANK MANAGER watches him.

BANK MANAGER
You have any idea who you're stealing from? You and your friends are dead.

The thug isn't bothered

BANK MANAGER (CONT'D)
You idiot. What makes you think the guy who hired you isn't going to kill you, too?

The Thug STOPS. Crouches over him. In the distance: SIRENS.

GENTLE VOICE
Call it a hunch.

The man PULLS off his MASK. The Bank Manager GASPS, horrified at the face staring back at him.

GENTLE VOICE (CONT'D)
It's rude to stare.

The bank manager summons his nerve, gritting his teeth.

BANK MANAGER
What are you? You freak. Criminals in this town used to believe in things. Honor. Respect. What do you believe in, huh? What do you bel-

BANG...the THUG puts a bullet into the MANAGER's head.

...Are you saying this reaction ISN'T fear????

I can't wait for this movie.

Consider the Joker we have in this movie. Yes, this Joker is a a scary lookin' dude...

But just how scary can an albino wearing a purple suit with green hair get?

It's all inturpretation...Batman, for instance is supposed to be scary..but, well.....we've all seen Batman & Robin.

And for the record...there was nothing fearful about that. I would call tht shock more than fear. There IS a difference.

Um didn't you get the memo that those comments turned out to be BS - guess what Batman doesn't kill Joker either... and we haven't confirmed Joker spits acid.

This thread is for things that we are almost 100% certain of - not wild speculation.

One scooper has said the fake Batmen work for Joker - in the comics in Batman # 2 they worked for the mob to try and put down the freaks and that was the twist... regardless so far the script and sides we actually have and the scenes we've seen filmed and cast reporting call sheets in no one indicate this. In fact, as the other poster pointed out, it's actually probably the case that Joker kills Brian Douglas one of the fake Batmen. However until we know more we won't confirm that.

Didn't you get the memo??? Or thread the entire thread on how it was BS for that matter.....

Couldn't the Joker kill one of his own men, just to send a message ? It sounds like something he could do.

It has also been considered, but for the moment we just haven't confirmed anything yet so we shouldn't post it yet...:bat:

Why not?

I know Gordon has a daughter called Barbara in the comics, but then again, in the comics Ducard wasn't r'as al ghul and catwoman was a hooker.

i agree, it showed him having some sort of child in begins, i just know that naming the wife barbra, will lead to nothing but fanboys either *****ing or jumping to the conclusion that nolan plans to make gordons with batgirl

No no...

His wife is Barbra in the comics as well, his first wife. He has a son called James in the comics as well.

In many of the comics Barbra, his daughter is adopted, and in some of them she's his niece.

I don't know if this was confirmed, just speculated upon. The timing of the arrest is also a bit of a grey area. Personally I think the car chase and subsequent Joker arrest are middle of the film and the boat bombs + a joker/batman final confrontation.
It is for sure at the end of the movie. The PA's told me when i went up to set spy.

hmm i knew everything about the daughter but i hold my hands up and admitt i did not know his wife was named that in the comics as well. guess its cause she's not spoke of that often
