The Amazing Spider-Man 2 SPOILERS Uncle Bens's killer?

As much as I don't want Sony to turn him into some supervillain, I could see him being Shocker or one of the Enforcers like Montana (minus the lasso)....

Or he could secretly be Chameleon, the real Cash Register Thief died months ago before Uncle Ben's death, and Chameleon took his appearance in order to pull off robberies. But it just so happens that he ran into Uncle Ben.

The last final theory I have is that he works for The Kingpin, Tombstone, or the Big Man, and we'll see another opening introduction where Peter finally catches him ala "ASM2" with Spider-Man thwarting Alexi and the Russian mob.

Uncle Ben's killer is clearly Dog the Bounty Hunter.

I'm imagining a brief cameo...in the middle of the movie, Peter runs into some guy selling stuff for charity (or a hobo begging for money, either one works), and as he's handing the guy money, his sleeve falls back to reveal the blue star tattoo. They both see it, they both recognize each other, but Peter just smiles, wishes him luck, and leaves.

Something like that could be a nice, touching scene to wrap up the storyline without making a whole subplot out of it.

^ Great suggestion. In this series, the thief that robs the shop wasn't actually looking to hurt anyone. It was only by accident that the gun went off, killing Ben.

Although I'd argue that reintroducing this story line after an entire film with no mention of it is a poor decision. This isn't a comic book or television show where you can just reintroduce unfinished subplots from two movies ago without any confusion or questions as to why nothing concerning the matter was brought up in TASM2 (Ben is mentioned once at graduation I believe?).

.... (almost speechless)

That reaction is so outrageously out of character for Peter Parker that it would be an utter travesty if such a scene made it to film. Yes, it was bad for SM3's Peter to let Sandman go, and it was bad for comics Peter to let Venom go, etc. Those writers dropped the ball too. Let's not repeat that mistake.

The responsible thing to do when recognizing a man wanted for murder, is to turn him in to the police, not smile & walk away. Just as the responsible thing for Peter to have done that night in the store was not to turn a blind eye to the crime being committed before him. Or have we forgotten the entire point of the character?

Honestly Ben is 100% responsible for his own death. But Peter doesn't know that so I'd imagine that he'd still catch Carradine and give him to the police.

I was under the assumption that the man he hangs in front of the police station while Captain Stacy looks on was Ben's killer. Because Spider-Man stops checking wrists after that scene.

Indeed. I really don't like the way that entire sequence played out; it was written like an obligatory, careless afterthought. Fitting when you consider how Uncle Ben was brushed aside throughout the sequel.

Him finding Ben's killer works perfectly for TASM 3... But only if they introduce the symbiote. It's perfect for when he's had the suit for a bit after beating the Sinister 6 with it, and seeing the dangers of it by beating this guy to the point of death before forcing himself to stop. He'll see how dangerous the suit is, and how it builds on his anger and that's how he'll get rid of it.

I've been thinking about how much of a disgrace it is that the whole issue of Uncle Ben's killer was not raised at all in TASM2, especially given the drawing on Peter's wall at the end of TASM1. In fact, TASM2 Peter did not seem to care one little bit about the death of Uncle Ben apart from a couple of very quick throwaway lines.

Having read your post though, I think this has the potential to be a brilliant idea. I've thought for a while now since the Venom movie was announced that TASM3 was always going to contain the black suit. I was hoping in the Raimi trilogy they would split the Venom saga over 2 movies and have the black suit appear prominently in SM3 while he fought Sandman and New Goblin, only to have the ending of the film be the appearance of Venom. Fingers crossed this is how things go with this new series.

I swear I am a junkie and Spider Man is my drug. I truly dislike ASM1 and ASM2, yet I keep wanting to watch them and talk about them at length.

you'd prefer peter just forgets about finding ben's killer?

They should have concluded it in the first film: if they're going to drag it out, they're going to have to REALLY sell it. Otherwise, Spiderman 3 already screwed up that opportunity.

To emphasize the part of my post you clearly didn't read:

My point was that Peter would see the guy had redeemed himself.
