October 30, 2006 - Slowly but surely, Wolverine is coming together. According to star and producer Hugh Jackman, if all goes to plan, fans can look forward to seeing Wolvie in his first solo, big screen adventure in late spring of 2008.

"That's kind of what we're looking at right now," Jackman tells IGN. "A summer release would be great though. Perhaps that's possible. But some things still need to fall into place."

Its probably smart to stay clear of the (already) overcrowded summer '08.

I think he wraps up filming on the Baz Luhrmann epic in summer '07?So that means he'd have to jump in to Wolverine mode straight after that. I don't expect this to be CG heavy movie so post production shouldn't last as long as the X-Men movies. So i think the movie can be finished on time.

If they sign up the director they want, then he or she can have a good amount of time to do proper pre-production work.

The Baz film stars production on March 26. Have no idea how long of a shoot it is but I've heard Baz movies can take as much as six months, but it also may depend on the movie. If Hugh thinks the Wolverine movie can get into theaters by Spring 2008 the Baz movie may not take that long.

Also I do have a feeling it will be filmed in Australia - Hugh's wife told a fan at a recent event that they were going to be in Australia most of next year, and Hugh *is* one of the producers.

It starting much little later than i thought it would. If it's shooting that long then that will be cutting things short. And one thing we don't need is for them to rush things again.

Hmm..i've always thought they'd want to shoot it in Canada since a) all 3 X-Men movies were shot there and b)its also where Logan is from.So shooting down under doesn't really sound logical to me.

I'm really getting excited about this film. Hugh thinks they hit the jackpot here in terms of quality. I like it when he makes us feel like this film is not just intended to be a popcorn movie but a serious piece of creative work. Hugh really seems to love the character and wants to treat him with outmost respect and I dig that.

Even if the Wolverine film starts shooting in August or September, my guess is it won't have as many special effects as X-Men so post-production won't be as long. Hugh's movie "The Prestige" wrapped in April and was in the theaters here in October.

I can probably guess about the location too - Hugh's son is now in first grade, and he has said some of his traveling may have to change because of that. Hugh and his family basically live in New York and Australia so I think they would want to go where his son can go to school (he may go to a school that has branches in both places). He said that's also one of the reasons he started his own production company - so he can have control over where and when to do movies.

:wolverine I'm excited just reading the article. I love how Benioff went out of his way to write this movie. If he's as big a fan as he says he is were in for a real treat with this one.

Don't they know that the summer of 08 will have "The Incredible Hulk",The Dark Knight",and "Iron Man" that will be out that year?Seems like a stupid move to release the movie for that date.

I know but its still cutting it close for me. I just want them to have as much time as possible cause you might only get one shot at making a Wolverine solo film.

I know he's producer and all but i think he should do whats best for Wolverine and not whats most convienent for his family. I might be wrong but i don't think Australia really has the kind of Weapon-X like locations Vancouver and other canadian locations have. If they shoot in Canada again they'll have the a crew thats already experienced in working on X-Men films.

GG, i'm pretty sure the article states spring 2008 and not summer 2008.

I just read an article about the movie Hugh is starting to film in March, and it was talking about a particular location shoot in July, so "Wolverine" won't start at least before August probably. And about the location - Hugh has always said his family comes first and that's one of the reasons he started his own production company - so he has more control over projects, including shooting locations, which is a concern now that his son is in school and he probably can't travel like they used to. Don't forget, "Superman" was filmed in Australia.

Family should always come first but as producer and star he should do whats in best interest for the movie i feel. Shooting Canada is just as cheap as Australia i think. Plus like i said before Logan is from Canada, the crews in Canada are accustomed to working on X-Men films ánd the settings are perfect for a Wolverine movie. But having said all that there few locations i've seen on the web that could easily double for Canada. So maybe Hugh can have his cake and eat it.:yay:
