It seems like they've essentially just embraced the already Ultimate-esque nature of JMS' Squadron and brought it more under the Ultimate umbrella.

That works for me. I've expanded it to include the entire Ultimate universe, in fact, which has worked swimmingly for the last few years.

I read all of Supreme Power, and I made it through about half of the first arc of Squadron....then I broke up with the book. She had become.....dirty to me.

Yeah, it fell apart way back when it made the transition to Squadron Supreme and they tried to pigeonhole the characters JMS was taking such care to set up into a standard super-team formula.
