You've got to keep in mind that the game was in development before the X-men became available. I don't think they fit the long term plan of the game (if there is one anymore).

I wouldn't mind seeing Beast and Wolverine part of an Avengers game, but generally you shouldn't stuff an Avengers game with playable X-men. Hopefully a well made singleplayer Avengers or X-men game comes out that satisfies our needs for these characters in games.

I just find it so insane... why didn’t they just hold it back and have more characters ready for launch. This game was not made to be played online and keep people’s attentions. The fact that they put Kate Bishop and Hawkeye back to back is also so bizarre to me. Two bow and arrow heroes back to back. Can we get some power diversity? Wanda? Captain Marvel? Black Panther?

This should have been more like the Spider-Man games and be more solo with group options for hopping in missions and have most of the “post game launch content” available at launch. It would have been better received review wise, it’d be played longer and it’d feel like a full game. They could still have post game launch content but have a little wiggle room to come back to.

They aren't going to get much of one. People are barely even playing this anymore. It's a dead game.

It wouldn't have made sense to put the X-Men in this game.

Also, were there even any issues preventing use of the Fox characters in video games? Did Fox also own the video game rights as well? Because I'm not sure that's the case.

I think if they wanted an online MMORPG Avengers game, then they should've made it free to play. Or released it with the actual game sort of like GTAV. Even then I think GTA Online became a separate release later.

Gamers who love the MCU want experiences like the Insomniac Spider-Man game. Also, even Ultimate Alliance 3, which was a Switch exclusive, managed to sell over a million copies. The Marvel brand has weight in gaming, but people expect more than this.

They want a story. They want an immersive experience. They don't want this live free to play garbage.

Also they want to fight cool bosses and super-villains. There's like 2 in this game.

Even as somebody who loved the story and had a ton of fun with the game, I haven't touched it in months. I think I ended up playing it once or twice after I beat the main campaign and then have barely even thought about it since.

I know COVID massively screwed up their plans (was just reading one of the devs comments about it on Reddit) but I still really wish they'd been able to at least get Kate out a bit sooner as originally planned. Now that it's been so long, I'm super worried about the future of the game. So many people have probably dropped off like me and I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get anything other than the already announced Kate, Hawkeye, and Spidey.

What I'm wondering is if the next-gen release will bring a second life to the game or if it will just fizzle out.

Especially with the delay to 2021.

I've seen this game for half off during Black Friday sales. Normally, that would entice me to get it. But the lack of content, lack of interesting roster (to me), and GAAS focus just dampen my interest in the game.

Now, if the launch roster was bigger and more diverse, with characters like Scarlet Witch, or if I had reasonable expectation she would added soon post-launch, then I'd be more apt to pick this game up for half off.

It's just a shame that this game turned out the way it did when an Avengers game, especially a story-driven one like Insomniac's Spider-Man, has so much potential.

You can still get the first one for PS$ on Amazon. That's what I did.

It would be nice to see Avengers and other Marvel characters in future Spider-man games. Maybe they should build on those working in the odd playable character in those games. It would be a lot more interesting than playing as Mary Jane at least. Imagine playing a version of Spider-man and his amazing friends.

"Matsuda doesn't offer concrete plans, but said the hope is that updates will help drive new sales: "We hope to make up for slow initial sales by offering ample additional content to grow our sales." Last week, developer Crystal Dynamics announced the December release date for it's first post-launch hero and campaign, announced another, and potentially teased other heroes to come beyond that."

At least it doesn't sound like they've given up just yet. But dang, only sold 60% of their planned units.

Hawkeye dlc will surely drive those sales up! :/

Oh god yes. That was a goddamn awesome game. The Punisher and God of War made 2005 a year to remember for me as a kid.

The PS2 era produced some great Marvel games. The X-Men Legends games, Ultimate Alliance, Hulk Ultimate Destruction, Spiderman 2, Ultimate Spider-man. That was a good era for Marvel games.

Man, I couldn't disagree more. I loved the MJ missions and one of my favorite things about the game was the respect it paid to Spidey's supporting cast. I love the references to the bigger Marvel universe, but I definitely wouldn't want any of them to play some kind of major role in the story or be playable. I'd keep them in the Avengers game or give them a game of their own but I don't want an Iron Boy Jr. situation where he gets sidelined in his own game, haha. Especially when this game exists.

Okay, maybe just a Daredevil side-mission chain lol
