I'll go see the sequel with the new director on board and hope that he continues the story..I really want to see what happens next.

The sequel to Superman Returns is already out.

It's called Superman III.

Exactly, that is something people dont realise, If WB didnt get Singer, they would probably have got someone like Brett Ratner or Tim Story, and Singer is leaps and bounds above them both. People might dislike this movie but it isnt as bad as Catwoman, Elektra, X3 or FF, in fact it is much better than any of those movies, and Singer IS a good director, you dont get a track record like he had before SR by being lucky.

At least X3 & FF were compact & more enjoyable (not taking BO into account - even with their flaws and silliness) and were not epic-drag-ons like SR, which is unfortunate since Supes is an awesome and like the pioneer of superheroes.

And c'mon, you putting X3 & FF in the same category as Elektra and CINO pretty much automatically makes your arguments less credible IMO.

Singer does well in certain genre and is not a hack - but with SR, his overconfidence and lack of taking off the "donner-vision" visor couple with totally complicating a character right off the bat after a 20 year break kind of screwed him.

Here's to hoping the next one's great :supes:

x3 might not of been of the same film making quality than SR but IMO X3 was more entertaining.
yeah it had a crappy script with silly illogical moments, some hokey dialogue and little character depth at all. it also butchered a few characters that shouldve gotten better treatment but it kicked SR's ass in the action entertainment side of things. it was like a comic book come to life. and although it was the worst of the trilogy, i will be owning it on DVD to complete the set.
i cannot say the same thing about SR.
it is just too dissapointing a superman film to add to my collection.
my expectations for x3 was far lower than that of SR. and in that regard it at least met them, if not exceeded them in some places. but SR...No. i was expecting something special. and all i got out of it was....meh......

Well, using that logic, I think Showgirls is one of the most consistantly entertaing movies of all time...however, it is a total train wreck.

It's true.

And I know it'll reach 200, Retro. I can see the future.

It'll get there.:cmad:

Hopefully it hits dollar theaters next week. That's the only way I can see it hitting 200mil.

i did say that SR was a better made film. no doubt about that.. but because i had SR held in such high esteem prior to seeing it. when i saw it i was dissapointed, and the more i reflected on it, the more dissapointed i got.

with X3. i knew it was going to be a par below in terms of filmmaking quality because of the general reviews so i went in there with little expectations and came out fairly satisfied. it was no more than a popcorn comic book action flick. i wouldve liked a better story with more depth and better characterisation but i knew i wasnt going to get it.
i thought i was with SR. but its soo flawed. the story was silly with some bad decisions made, [ the blatent re-imagining of the 1st film, the kid, the love triangle/stalking, lexs ridiculous plot, the kryptonite contradiction, and the jesus parallels. which were as subtle as a brick.] this wasnt the superman returning to the big screen that i was expecting.
and the box office shows i was not alone. i would never of thought that superman in his big budget return to the movies would get his arse so thoroughly kicked by a pirate at the box office. i was certain the film would rake it in at the box office.
but as have said before. then i saw the film........

How is it still possible that the numbers are dropping? The numbers should be well into the negatives by now.

The film made $430,000 in 241 theaters. A drop, but after holding onto the $800,000 mark the past four weekends in a row, it's a respectable drop.

Well FF and X3 arent as bad as Elektra or Catwoman, but they are not good movies, they are down near the bottom of the CB list for me. X3 especially.

Well i went into X3 with VERY low expectations and still came out dissapointed. With SR i went in with high expectations and i loved it.

Something similar happened to me. I saw STM and then SR back to back.

It did almost 400,000 this weekend after LOSING 100 theatres to finish with 150 theatres left! They need to bump it back up, and I GAURANTEE you that 400 or so theatres and SR would make over 600,000 on that weekend.
Yeah its actually doing fantastically well with such a small amount of theatres. Despite the negative opnions here people are still going to see the film.:yay:

I hope it crawls over the $200 mark.
Me too.me too

Well if it can perform 400.000 for this weekend , there's still hope.
But the 400 million wordlwide won't be reached.

^ Ah well, just under $390 million isnt THAT bad, it could've been worse, but at least it still shows that people want to see the movie.
