It's another element seemingly borrowed from wrath of khan for x2. two members of star fleet are captured by Khan and turned into mindless slaves sent to kill Kirk.

Tell that to Joseph Campbell Wes. ;)

X3 is enjoyable in a trashy way..Mostly fun mindless action(not so inspired that said ) ..subpar in writing and the directing while competent is uninspired .

Sr has flaws : pacing at the beginning , Routh a little stiff at the beginning too(but become really interesting, really graceful and touching later in the movie ) .. Bosworth while good is not memorable (her youth doesn't help her either ) , has nice but not great chemistry with Routh . the Luthor plan (nice performance from Spacey funny and sinister at the same time) while very interesting thematically ,and having a certain raisonnance is not so interesting at time ( the train stuff ).even more the action fans will be disapointed . there are few action scenes ( but the one on the screen are powerful and suspensful for the most part)

But all in all the movie has really a grandeur , an epic quality (i've never seen a Superhero movie with so brillant iconics images ) ,and is very moving in dealing with the theme of alienation.

A very good film , missing the mark of being great from not a lot.

You don't know Joseph Campbell?

Another question : have you already watched back to back M from Fritz Lang and Blade runner?

you should :rich and interesting experience.

 who doesn't know of joseph cambell... I'm a big star wars geek. I'd just be interested in some elaboration regarding his relation to the slaves in khan and x2.

I've seen blade runner years ago, not M but if you buy it for me I'll watch it.

ha ha.

well have a good reflexion wes ( and you have a christmas gift idea :D)

As far as staying true to the source in both story and character, both movies were way off the mark.

As far as plotholes and barely plausible story-line, both movies have their issues.

So, basically, both movies have similar flaws.

Only two things set them apart: action factor (as one would expect from an action/superhero movie) and a powerful villian with an evil agenda.

Superman Returns was disapointing only because I had high hopes for it and felt like it didn't live up to what it should have....I knew X3 was going to be a crap-fest from the get go...and sure enough.

I have questions, when Superman is flying, his costume is fireproof.

His costume is always fire proof because of his protective aura.

A Doctor is cutting Superman´s Costume in a easy way? so what was that?, is possible that a human can destroy Superman´s costume, but fire can´t destroy the costume?

Did they ever cut his costume? I remember them just pulling it off. Haven't seen the movie since July.

The Costume is indestructible.....except Krptonite can cut through it. Think of it as armor piercing to the Armor that is the costume. But, yeah.....the aura thing is gone with. The comics have done away with the aura, except the out-of-continuity ALL STAR keeps the aura I believe. The SR costume is Krpytonian, so that's why it's fireproof.....just like Superman. I guess it's just a way to explain why Superman doesn't have to change his costume every 5 mintues b/c of the **** he can handle himself.

I don't remember them cutting the suit either, I just saw them pulling it off.

[Triumph the Insult Comic Dog]Seriously, have you ever talked to a woman without first having to give her your credit card number?[/Triumph the Insult Comic Dog]

No. No, I haven't.

No....wait. Yes. Yes, I have.

No....wait, I just thought about it again....that's a no. Yes, a no fo sho.

It's the exact opposite. Fanboys hate X-3 because of ratner while the general audience like's it. Fanboys like SR while the general audience is cold towards it.

I dislike X-3 because it had no substance other than the action. I could care less about Ratner. The only movies I like less than X3 are Elektra, Blade Trinity and I go back and forth but FF.

I've talked to more non-fans that liked SR, while the people I've talked to about X3 said it was just average.

I personally like Fantastic Four more than I liked Superman Returns, FF is flawed as hell, sure, but it is a fun movie to watch, and takes me back to the saturday morning cartoon, and reading the comics, two elements Superman Returns was unable to capture for me
