Dan I dont have a problem with any of the things you mentioned. I have a problem with bland superman(clark kent was good),lois was a wench and not spunky,No good villian( I like spacey and I like lex but I dont like spacey playing lex) crap action(in this day and age no one should be entertained by supes saving airplanes and getting shot in the eye). No resolution(where does singer go from here, if theres a sequel will supes still be depressed because lois moved on, will singer explain jasons powers or will he just use them as a plot device like SR).

Meaningless, nitpicky complaints from a fanboy. It's funny how all the criticisms of SUPERMAN RETURNS that come from Internet nerds are always the same. RETURNS is a well-made film and this is what I'm going to judge it as.

As far as X3 my feelings are known. Yes it sucks that cyclops had to die but blame singer. He wasted cyc for two films and to believe that singer would have pulled a complete 180 and focused on him in the third is beyond ******ed. For the first I saw the REAL X-MEN on screen. The entire team fighting together and not getting split up while wolverine runs a gaunlet. It has it's problems like singers xfilms(especially X1) but I think the good outweighs the bad.

And one more thing dan. As far as getting out goes ive been registered on this site two years longer than you yet you still have a larger post count. I know it upsets you that singer raped superman but dont take your anger out on me.

Say whatever you want. I don't care; it doesn't bother me at all. The verdict is out!

Besides, you liked CRASH...:wow:

A, you are an internet nerd to so don't generalize to much

B, Crash was a good film

superman returns, it had Much Much Much more to it, where once again, x3 did not

The entire team fighting together and not getting split up while wolverine runs a gaunlet
only two that stayed together was beast and wolverine....then kitty went to fight juggernaught, iceman vs pyro, storm vs callisto, Wolverine and Beast vs magneto, collosus was by himself, then wolverine vs pheonix...same concept as X1 with the team splitting up and is just a bunch of one on one much like X1...

SR was good enough for my vote

No, it wasn't.

Imo yes it was

Also, there is a small group of people oh called THE ****ING ACADEMY who's job it is to decide what is the best movie of the year, and they chose crash

Now, you may disagree that it was the best movie of the year, I personally though it was Syriana, but you know You aren't being paid on your opinion, and these are guys who have gotten a degree from like ****ing Oxford in film to decide this stuff

They usually make terrible choices, not having Naomi Watts even nominated for King Kong :o

She acted against nothing, whereas everyone else did :o

Terrible choices?

Godfathers, Schindlers List, Pulp Fiction, Tom Hanks, Robert DeNiro, Russel Crowe

pretty much everyone, or everymovie that has won, could be argued as a great movie, or great actor actress, or great director etc

Did Pulp Fiction win Oscars? I thought the Academy didn't like movies not associated with them?

I hate the academy anyway...my opinion is all that matters to me...it's just a sugarcoated way of them saying what they prefer that takes four long and tedious hours :o

Pulp Fiction won best screen play, was up for best picture, won best supporting actor (Sam Jackson), and was up for best actor (Travolta)

its a pretty good nod, to a good film, in a really jam pakced year (Forest Gump, and there was one other powerhouse movie that those three took like every award)

My opinion is all that matter to me to, but the academy is a good citiation when some one crticizes a movie I thought was quite good

and also, if it wheren't for the academy, there would be no reason to make classy challenging movies like Crash, or Brokeback Mountian, because they could just make more money investing in a movie that will sell toys.

The academy is glorified publicity for quality movies, instead of Super Bowl adds for Shrek movies, and Ghost Rider etc.

Titanic? Case closed. :down

Titanic is epic filmmaking at its finest, Cameron is the very best at that, Peter Jackson, and Steven Spielberg couldn't make that movie better, that ship breaking apart is art

Painted against the greatest love story of all time. I know right? :o

:whatever:

So it's epic not for it's supposed love story which is what most people associate it with but for it's special effects?

Its a good love story, weather I consider it the best ever is a little extreme

but any time you can make a movie like that in open water, ask anyone that has shot a movie in water (Spielberg says its the worst expierence he has ever had) It is not an easy task, with sound, and lighting and a back drop of the wild blue yander that you can't work around, and such a cramped shooting space, for them to pull off that feat is as good as it gets from a director, and production stand point, for that it deserves Best Picture (which goes to the producers), and Best Director

Yeah they should have given Waterworld an Oscar too. :whatever:

Except water world isn't half the movie Titanic is

Oh, please, give me a break! You clearly have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to the Academy and have just officially entered my territory. I know what the Academy Awards are because my best friend and I follow them every year (starting in September and ending in January), so don't lecture me on what the Academy is, and what is and isn't a good movie. While we're at it, do you even know what the Academy is? Because it certainly isn't what you claimed it to be. The Academy just consists of every person ever nominated for an Academy Award and to think that they're actually paid to vote and decide these things is just absurd.

And I hope you realize that there are also plenty of precursors to the Academy Awards that happen throughout the fall and winter, such as the Golden Globes, the PGA's (Producer's Guild of America), the DGA's (Director's Guild of America), the BAFTA's, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, and the New York Film Critics Association—all of which awarded BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN Best Picture of 2005, not CRASH. These groups are the ones that consist of the people you speak of, the ones who are paid to decide these kinds of things. Nice try, though, pal...

Wow!

What you said couldn't be more wrong. As I already pointed out above, there are several other groups that judge and award movies and they are no less important than the almighty Academy is; in fact, these groups almost always influence the Academy's decisions, which is why it was so disappointing when BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN lost to such a one-dimensional, meaningless, manipulative piece of **** like CRASH. I mean, it's pathetic that you're actually citing the fact that it won Best Picture last year as evidence of its importance and influence. Who cares? CRASH will be forgotten in 20 years; BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN won't be.

The Academy has made many controversial choices before and awarding CRASH Best Picture of 2005 is certainly one of them. All the guilds usually award the same movie Best Picture every year and the fact that the Academy didn't award BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN is just embarrassing; you could tell even Jack Nicholson was shocked when he announced it last year!
