Star Trek Sequel

I'm hoping that we see some actual exploring in the sequel as well as the development of the United Federation of Planets. We should see that Kirk has what it takes as the Captain of a vessel in the heat of battle, but maybe show him to be a fish out of water when it comes to the diplomatic side of his duties. That could give the character a good arc for the film.

Agreed....and Spock would be more of the rational diplomat instead.

And McCoy would just eat all the food at the reception!

^I'm hoping then that the Star Trek fan inside Orci and Kurtzman wins out. I hate stupid love triangle crap. It's so "The OC".

Yes. Please no Kirk-Spock-Uhura love triangle. I think the idea of Spock-Uhura is much better than a triangle. I'd like to see Kirk's prime struggle in the film be the bad aspects of being a Starfleet Captain, including things like sending crew members to their deaths and having all the pressure on him. I also hope they continue to develop the fact that Vulcan was destroyed, and keep it as part of Spock's struggle. This film focused more on his mother's death in Spock's story than Vulcan itself. I'd like to see them keep that in the focus.

I'm hoping for a story involving the Klingons for the sequel personally. No Khan or anything, since I'd like to see JJ continue to do his own thing with Star Trek as opposed to trying to show people where popular characters fit in his universe post-alternate timeline.

99% Agreement

The 1%? Her name is Uhura.

Maybe in the 3rd film there can be some references toward the TGN crew, but not in this next one.

This next film needs to concentrate on this alternate TOS universe crew for at least one more film before starting to jump around all over the place and worrying about including the other crews of the Star Trek spinoffs right away.

Like I said. All they need to do is pour a glass of Chateau Picard. The non-fans will think nothing of it (it's just a bottle of wine), and the fans will love the little reference.

I'm pretty confident that they got the point across that Uhura had no interest in Kirk. I don't see a triangle forming.

I initially felt that way too, but everyone I saw it with were pretty certain that they (the writers) set this up to play out as a love triangle in future installments.

Blech. It would betray the character they set up for Uhura. IMO.

Anyways... Kirk needs to have his shirt ripped in a fight in the sequel.

Kirk needs to sleep with as many women as possible in the sequel; that leaves no room for Uhura. :hehe:

I don't think so. Kirk was always portrayed as a skirt chaser....but never shown to try and steal someone elses girl.

Hahaha, that's a great idea.

mmmmmm yes, topless Kirk

We also need some Gorns. I'd like to see them actually cool looking though, not dudes in plastic suits.

After giving this much thought...i've changed my mind. As much as I would love to see Klingons in the next film....i'm gonna have to change my opinion and vote for the Cardassians.

I would like to see Khan and the Klingons or Khan and the Cardassians.

Seeing just Klingons and or Cardassians be the main baddies would be "MEH"

Seeing a younger version of Khan would be bring more depth IMO.

We need to see the Gorn dammit. You can just expand on that whole race. How damn fierce would they be?

Maybe the film can open up with Kirk captured by the Gorn and the crew break him out and save him. How awesome would that be? If done right, it can be one of the coolest opening scenes ever.

I'd love to get a look at Nurse Chapel and see Kirk flirt it up with Carol Marcus on shore leave. Speaking of which, who else REALLY wants to see Karl Urban interact with Alice and the White Rabbit?

Hahahaha.

He could always tell Jim about a weird dream he had involving those two. The fans who know the episode you're talking about will crack up.

It could be like a whole mission impossible type teaser before the opening music.

And the breakout is part of some convoluted scheme of Kirk's. Maybe they have to rescue some Federation scientist held deep in Gorn territory.

Better yet. They have to rescue Spock-Prime, who the Gorn kidnapped to extract future information/science. We get to see Leonard Nimoy again, but only in the beginning, transitioning us to a movie with only the new crew.

i would love to see javier bardeem or gerald butler as the young khan! how about star trek"rise of khan" for the title:brucebat:

The Gorn would be awesome. It could be fairly easy for Kirk to be caught, since the Gorn are often thought of as intellectually inferior to humans, even though they're not, it wouldn't take much for Kirk to insult one of them intentionally or unintentionally and get himself into trouble during maybe some shore leave or negotiations with them on a planet.

The great thing about the Gorn is that they're a great race to use, but have never really been fleshed out well in any series, thus leaving a lot of room for Abrams to work with, even if it's just for the opening scene.
