Star Trek Sequel

It had borg tech?

Orci and Kurtzman went on record saying the Countdown comics aren't cannon.

Does anyone know the actual composer who came up with this song and why wasn't it used in the film!?

I was hoping that was going to be part of the original theme for the film, which is one of the reasons why I was disappointed with the score in the actual film...but when I hear it again its not that bad, it just pales in comparison to this. To me its perfect for Star Trek....it also reminds me of Dr.Doom for some reason :D

Why not develop an entirely new villain. Most of the other characters are exhausted, and many users are not interested in seeing another use of aliens such as the Borg, the Klingons, the Romulans, etc.

Personally, I find fascination of the concept of there being a planet of machines left over after the destruction of the sentient species which forged them. Hostile machines like you would find SkyNet creating, yet in secret posing as a race peacefully interested in acquiring more knowledge about the universe.

They gain knowledge, but also overtake the Enterprise's computers and use them for a very destructive manner.

If I remember what someone previously posted, it was originally written for one of the Dune mini-series that came out a couple of years back and was called either War Drums or War Begins.

They licensed and had Two Steps From Hell rework it for the trailers.

But if there were ever two pieces of trailer music I wish had been in the film, it's Down With the Enterprise and Freedom Fighters.

How about a movie where Kirk and crew confront a demonic villain?

Star Trek: Beam Me to Hell

:D

Orci and Kurtzman can say that the Countdown comics weren't canon, but they are only saying that because they don't want anyone to feel that they have to read those comics to get backstory to understand the film. The Countdown comics are just the extra icing on the cake for Trek fans. Saying they are not canon is just the safe answer, but no doubt, they really are.

I've seen ST about 4 whole times in theaters and many individual scenes in sections I've seen around 25-30 times (I work in a theater and I run the films, so, I can watch it whenever I want), but it had been some 2-3 weeks since I saw it, so yesterday, I popped in to watch about 35 minutes of it again and WOW, does this movie have great replay!

I'm surprised. I'm still not burned out on it after seeing it so many times. The movie just never get old for me. It was the same thing for me and The Dark Knight.

Yeah, this one is going to be playing on my TV a lot come December!

Orci and Kurtzman again:

Well, our director has a very different sensibility as far as where he's getting his humor from. The The Transformers are generating humor from the way they talk. And the humor in Star Trek is very much about the circumstances our characters find themselves in. It's literally the difference between cracking jokes and being in a funny situation. They're different franchises.

JJ pretty much all but confirmed that he'll be back at the helm for the next Trek.

I like the idea that Tranformers' production team could use as a force of nature as a villain. The idea of a large space cataclysm happening to Earth is an interesting concept. For as far as I know the idea of there being a gamma ray burst, which is unpredictable and nearly impossible to stop being hurled at Earth, and with the Enterprise needing to respond as the only ship available because the rest of the Federation's fleet is out fighting the Klingons.

I'd rather the next film have nothing to do with Earth. I want to see them off exploring.

Agreed. I would prefer Earth not be involved also. Let's see the Enterprise on it's 5 year mission next film

Hey Man of Tomorrow...

I really like your suggestions...

Perfect!

So, let's hear everyone's "Yay" or "Nay" on Khan being the main villain for the next Star Trek movie!

I'd be down to see Khan, however, I'd prefer it if he weren't the focus of the film. It would be much cooler if he were featured in a pre-title sequence and then sort of fell to the background as the real story starts.

Come on. I can't be the only one who wants to see the Cardassians as the main baddy?

Nay on Khan, at least for the second movie. JJ created a new timeline, and he needs to explore it without being tied down to the Prime timeline. And if Khan does appear, it'll have to be a version of Space Seed.

No Khan...NEW VILLAIN!!!

:cmad:

Or no villain at all. Some other kind of antagonist.

Since the timeline is totally different now, the possibilities are endless on who they could use.
