Just because they deny It doesn't mean It's not true. There have been times
when studios and filmmakers deny something and then It turns out to be
true.Latino Review when they break stuff have a high accuracy rate.

I could drudge up some old trekmovie. com articles, but the writers have spoken a number of times how they thought using Kahn would probably be a bad idea (They've done a number of exclusive interviews on trekmovie and even post in their comment threads from time to time, at least Orci does anyways). You're right that what they say publicly means very little but I still would hope they'd be smarter than to go this route. It'd be such a waste.

Also many sites with very good reputations, like Variety, were saying a few months back that Joseph Gordon Levvit was playing Alberto Falcone in the TDKR but that is not the case.

Supposedly on the commentary for the ST09 dvd they mention that they considered an after the credits scene showing the Botany Bay. Can anyone confirm they actually say this?

as much as i LOVE ST:WoK, (its in my top 5 movies of ALL TIME) and how much i loved the new ST movie...i WANT them to go a different direction because its what they did in the first movie and it worked WELL.

i don't want a rehashed movie line, what would be next the death and rebirth of spock?

DO.
NOT.
WANT.

Using the character of Khan does not even remotely equate into a rehash of ST2. It would however be a rehash of the original series episode of "The Space Seed." But even then it doesn't necessarily have to be the Enterprise that originally finds the Botany Bay.

However, with that said, its being reported that del Toro is not going to be Khan so I think you are safe.

I want to see the Gorn in the Star Trek Sequel.

Cheesy, but it could be interesting.

Another classic Star Trek alien race I would not mind seeing are the Andorians.

I have seen some cool Gorn redesigns around.

I just want to see some alien aliens (as opposed to human aliens).

Peter Weller to co-star in 'Star Trek' sequel
J.J. Abrams quickly filling out cast
By Dave McNary

J.J. Abrams has tapped veteran thesp Peter Weller for the ensemble cast of Paramount's upcoming "Star Trek" sequel.Specifics of Weller's role are under wraps. His selection came on the heels of Abrams choosing Alice Eve as a character that's believed to be new.

Benicio del Toro is Abrams' choice to play the villain, as Variety first reported Nov. 4. Most of the cast from the previous installment is returning, including Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto.

Abrams is directing from a script by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof. Abrams, Kurtzman, Orci, Lindelof, Bryan Burk, and David Ellison will produce through Bad Robot and Skydance Productions. Production is expected to start in early 2012 with Paramount planning to release the pic on May 17, 2013.

Weller's TV credits include "Dexter," "Fringe" and "24," while his film credits include "Mighty Aphrodite," "Robocop," "Robocop II" and "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension." Weller also directed the 1993 short "Partners," which was Oscar-nommed; TV helming credits include Elmore Leonard's "Gold Coast and Odyssey V," "Homicide: Life on the Streets," "Michael Hayes" and "Monk."

Weller is repped by APA and managed by Craig Baumgarten at BMP Inc.

Awesome. Get that man some Klingon make up!

first delToro then Eve, now Weller... The cast looks great so far!

I am just happy to see Weller kicking it in theaters again.

This film will have quite the ensemble! They will be great additions to the series.

Peter-RoboCop-Weller in Star Trek 2: Kahn is Probably the Villain Despite the Denials.

I'm going to buy six tickets to this movie!

Weller: :awesome:

Any chance they could move things alone and have this movie come out in January? No? Damn.

Buckaroo Banzai and Star Trek.....now you're talking :awesome:

Is it possible Weller will be a descendent of the character he played on Enterprise?

NO KHAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNN

Seriously. How would that even work? The whole anchor of TWOK was that Khan was seeking a long, long, LONG-seated revenge against Kirk for exiling him to Crapworld for decades. In Abrams' Trek 2, Kirk's career is just getting started, and he's still fresh out of the Academy. How the hell did he manage to find time to make an epic rivalry with Khan Noonian Singh?

Ain't happenin'.

I say that the villain is either Kor or Koloth for months.

I could see either one of them as possibilities, as a Klingon would probably make the most sense as a role for del Toro, if he isn't Kahn.

Koloth would be interesting since I think the original plan, had TOS gotten another season, was to have him be a recurring foil for Kirk.

The WRATH OF KHAN movie was a sequel to the original TREK episode SPACE SEED where Kirk first met Khan. In the new timeline, Kirk can still meet Khan who (A) has now been released from the cryogenic stasis a few years earlier than he was in the old timeline and is restarting his eugenics war to take control of the galaxy, or (B) Kirk and the Enterprise now find Khan and his ship earlier than they did in the other timeline, revive him, and he again tries to take over the Enterprise in his quest to rule the galaxy.

Weller in ST2??

SWEET!!!

This movie is shaping up nicely with a really diverse and unique cast. I'm really curious to see what roles, Del Toro, Eve and Weller are going to play.

Hence why even treading that territory this soon with all that good will from the reboot is lazy.
