Character you wish to play: General Alexander Barrett

Faction : The New Republic
Background: Alexander Barrett was loyal soldier in the Rebel Alliance for years. He was the Captain of a covert ops unit a unit that was secretive only 2 people knew of their existence Mon Mothma and Ball Organa to the rest of the Alliance they existed in shadows and myth. Their missions were always unauthorized and (from the Alliance's point of view) morally questionable, but they were found to be a necessary evil. The equipment for this 20 member unit was found on the Black Market or where ever they could get it because the Alliance could in no way connected to them. Their operation was moving along without any issues until Senator Albork found out about their operations and exposed them to the Senate. Mothma condemed the actions of the unit in the Senate and Barrett diverted all the files so that the identites of the other unit members would always remain a secret. Ball Organa managed to use his influence and political favor to have Barrett only dishonorably discharged with no trial. Barrett's wife and child left him and to this day have no contact with him. Alex moved away to the planet of Roon a planet where even the most basic necessities were seen as a luxury. He lived there for years and years until Leia Organa came to him for help. Alliance intellegence indicated that Imperial Troops were getting ready to invade the planet and pilfer the plentiful resources. Alex was still very bitter and told Leia to leave him alone. Three weeks later Imperial Troops invaded and overtook the peaceful citizens. Alex managed to avoid capture with a handful of others. He trained them and formed a small band of Freedom Fighters and they began conducting hit & run attacks. These attack caught the attention of the Alliance who eventually sent several commando units to help out. The planet was eventually liberated but Alex kept a low profile and was content to fade out of sight until he saw her. He found an orphaned infant and he knew it was time to get invovled again. He sought out Leia and asked to be a part of the Alliance again. She was reluctant to allow him back in, but she knew he was not out to save his reputation but to avenge the people of Roon and thousands of others who suffered as that infant did. Leia arranged to have the orphan adopted, and Alex's record cleared, and she told him to reassemble a new unit with only 10 people. Under the condition that he answers to her, Luke, and Han Leia also stated the condition that if he disobyed or dishonored the Alliance he would be injected with a powerful truth compound and forced to confess his lack of co-operation in the Roon Massacre led to the little girl's parents being killed. The Alliance doesn't once again talk about Barrett or his unit but if not for them the Imperial Sect would have gained much more in terms of influnce and systems.

Items: E-11 Blaster Rifle and a DH-17 Blaster both holstered (Alex took the Rifle from the last Stormtrooper he killed on Roon), a Light Repeating Blaster, telescopic lenses, and a pouch of Thermal Detonators.
Character Personality: Alex is an extremely disciplined indvidual and has a brillant military mind so much so Admiral Thrawn has put a sizable bounty on his head. He believes in what the Alliance is fighting for is worth dying for, but he feels that they are a lot of talk and not enough action. Alex is very harsh on those under his command but he cares very much for them though he can never show it. Though he hates politicians he deeply respects Leia because of what her father did for him and his unit, and tollerates Luke & Han.
Character Alignment: Good.
Why have you chosen this character, and what are your plans for them: He is a character that has a real edge and anger underneath him. He doesn't like playing by conventional rules but rather his own moral code which is; freedom through strength and the ends justify the means. There aren't a lot of characters like him in the Star Wars Universe. My plans for him are to have him grow to trust those in authority and to trust the peace process, but also to have him shake things up a little bit as well.
What can you bring to Star Wars: The RPG: I have been a fan since 1977 and I have been playing RPGS since 1981.
How often can you post IN A DAY in this RPG: Once maybe twice pending upon how others interact with my character.
Sample Post (write a sample post that is at least 4 paragraphs long and containing at least 3 lines of dialogue): (This takes place as Barrett assembles his 10 member unit. His unit comprises a pilot, a demolitions expert, a sharpshooter, a computer expert, communications specialists, a medic, a linguistic expert, an engineer, an electronics guru, and a mechanic)
It's 0300 hours and Barrett looks over the gathered troops in the docking bay. He paces back and forth and says, "Ladies and Gentlemen many of you have heard of me I am General Alexander Barrett and the unit that you are all are being asked to be a part of is highly unauthorized and comes very close to being illegal, and that just concerns the weapons we will use. Our missions will take us to areas that if we are caught we will be expected to take our own lives."
He stares at the pliot Hernandez and says, "That being said being a part of this unit means being a part of something more than just another covert operations unit."
Barrett begins looking up and down the rows of those assembled and continues, "It means carrying out missions against the Imperial Sects throughout the Galaxy that normally take weeks and months to negotiate we do in hours and days. We will recieve no commendations, promotions or any glory. However that also means no interference from the politicians. Each one of you brings something unique to the table a gift or talent that makes you in the top 1%. I'll make you better. I'll be taking you all to a planet far beyond the known reaches, to study and to train and in six months you will be able to take on an entire rebel commando unit by yourselves and unarmed. "
Barrett stands next to the ramp of the stealth ship called the Eagle Wing and the ramp lowers. He says, "Anyone who wishes to back out step away now. Otherwise there are only 3 ways out of this unit. 1) Leia Organa disbands us in which case you all will be reassigned. 2) You are one of the ladies and you become preganant and in which case you and the father will be discharged or 3) A laser bolt through the skull. Once you step up this ramp you will hand me your file disc and I will destroy it. You all were also chosen because you have no relationships or spouses which means no contact with anyone outside of the unit. Anyone wishing to step away do so before I get to 3. "
Barrett gets to 3 and no one steps away. He says, "Very well Hernandez." Hernandez steps forward and Alex blasts his file disc. Barrett says, "Set course for Csilla that's where our base of operations will be located." Hernadez salutes and Barrett says, "Military courtesy will not be necessary, we are all equal but be there no doubt I'm the one calling the shots."
