Stargate SG-1/Atlantis/Universe

I'm listening to a GateWorld interview with Brad Wright and he says that ending SGA was a mutual agreement between the creators, MGM, and Sci Fi, which is why there's already a movie deal in place at the time of the cancellation's announcement. I'm a little annoyed about that. Both Ark of Truth and Continuum felt basically like extended episodes anyway.

I'm really not too crazy about what I'm reading about Universe, either. They already took a team to a super-advanced alien base in another galaxy with Atlantis. Putting a team on a ship seems like a further dilution of the original concept of the Stargate TV series, which was, in my opinion, sci fi adventures firmly rooted in a realistic, modern-day setting. The appeal of SG-1 was that they were just normal Air Force people encountering all kinds of crazy s*** and being about as overwhelmed by most of it as any normal person from 21st-century Earth would be. I'd like to see them get back to that rather than having yet another team embodying the familiar sci fi roles of Star Trek and such. Plus, what's the deal with a younger cast? People in their 30s aren't exactly old goats or anything, and it stretches belief to the breaking point to have 20-somethings in command of a ship or being the premiere team. There's a reason why Jack, Carter, John, Mitchell, et al. are colonels.

But whatever, I'll give it a try.

^ I bet the flagship leader who is captain at the beginning of the series reaches general at the half way point.........of season 1

They make fun of a younger Stargate crew and then they do it! argh!

"yo dawg what'd you do that for?"

"Duh, I was still gonna tap dat"

I think they'll bring Keller(Jewel) aboard the series. She seems young enough. Ofcourse if everyone around her is younger then she'll be like a grandma to them

probably the "official reason" for going younger is that it has the possibility of being a one way mission so they want people who aren't attached to anything

I guess they really did cancel to make room for the new series then...didn't want to make the mistake of having two shows running at the same time again.

The Shrine is the best episode of SG:A as a whole... IMHO

Not to crap on jewel staite....but I'd prefer having Dr. Beckett....Dr. Kellar seems kind of forced in there....

Just as SG:A is getting good they can it :(

I probally would've binned the show after Season 1 but it showed some good ideas for Season 2 and then 3 and 4 were both really good. This season looks good so far too.

SG:U doesn't sound that good, it's like SG:A didn't work in cutting them off from earth so we've got another idea how to cut them off. I hope the enemys in SG:U are better than the Wraith.

Only thing that interests me in SG:U is what the new ship looks like and which shrub they get in as the 'Named' main star. When they start using phrases like 'Targeting a younger viewer' in SG terms i kinda switch off...

The last time they went for a younger viewer it was StarGate:Infinity... and you all know how well that went down with the fans.

I like Keller and as much as i'd like PMcG return, i'd still want Staite to be in the show full time as well... that is if the show wasn't ending.:cmad::cmad:

But i know that some people (And i don't mean you BL) automaticly started hating the replacement for Carson the split second he got BBQ'd... simply cuz they were replacing Carson. And to me that is utterly.... crazy.

Better to stop while they're going strong rather than stop when it's a pice of crap.

Well for the first season Atlantis was a mixture of DS9 and Voyager, seeing as they were stuck in another galaxy with no way of getting back to Earth

I gave her a decent shot, she just isn't as interesting a character as Carson is...her only drawing point is her Firefly cred and the fact that she has boobs....

I for one know I choked up a couple of times, but my god Ronan's wig looks like roadkill! Why don't they write in his hair cut in some way. Sheesh.

nonsense, the premier was still better than this, and the season 1 finale/season 2 opener was better than this.

and I find the doctor annoying... but only because they are wasting her character. The whole episode could really have played on the relationship b/w her and Rodney. But it REALLY didn't. Just seemed like a wasted opportunity to really flesh out their relationship, especially with the sister there. It feels like they're pulling a Jack/Sam (are they together, are they not?). Just wish the producers would realize that they did that for 10 years already.

it was a decent episode, that's for sure. But I think the only thing that really made it shine was watching rodney fall apart as his mind began to 'shrink'. I would however put this episode in the top 35% of SGA. But it is most definately not the best.

To be honest, I felt the last moment where Rodney blurted out his "I love you" was kinda over the top, compared to the decent emotional moments he had with Sheppard and Ronon. And there was a grating lack of response on Jennifer's side... it felt like something they just felt forced to throw in there because well he's dying bla bla bla.

They need to quit this whole let's put the brainy smary guy with the accepting hot chick....it's tired, cliche and it sends the wrong message

I actually liked the girl he was seeing last season or the season before that, the one he was going to propose to at some point. It was normal for Rodney to simply have a girlfriend that is NOT a series regular, and I'd expect the same thing from Sheppard to be honest. The producers must really think we're ******s if they think they have to hook up the series regulars. We might forget the love interest if we don't see him/her every single episode.

Rodney was seeing the Atlantis psychiartrist if I remember right....I think she ended up dead though...it was the episode where everyone lost their memory or something and she fell off a balcony or something....

He was dating a botanist.

People who watch reality TV. They're the lowest common denominator in every genre.

I'm partially guilty...I do like Hells Kitchen...I can't cook all that well so it's really cool, for me anyway, to see people do really cool and different things with food...

but I wouldn't apply the standards I have for that part of my TV watching to science fiction...if anything sci-fi has the highest bar to aspire to because it has to incorporate both comedy and drama....and more exposition than lots of other shows
