I think points are leading to Supernatural ending this season. They're not getting cancelled just ending at season 6

So...what happens if ratings improve A LOT during the second half of the season? What do you think will happen? Surely that will make them think a little.

not been able to get into their new season... think it should have finished last season TBH...

nope... if they can't think that they should tell the cast/crew before publicly announcing it.... then they're not going to be bothered if the ratings improve

Someone on another thread made a comment about wondering if Starz would take on the series. While I doubt it would happen, I actually wouldn't be surprised at all if they did.

Starz has their own issues....since when did this mindset of hoping another channel picks up a show get started??

if a show gets canned due to low numbers or **** reviews, why is some other channel going to take that on...theyd be playing from behind

a well loved turd is still a turd

Or it's a diamond buried in the rough.

considering this shows audience dropped by half before it even moved timeslots, its a turd, just a turd with a pedigree

I only watched a little of Universe but I'm a little surprised to see they canned it so soon. ratings were down but it seemed like they had high hopes for it when it started. i guess this'll be the first time in a long time There hasn't been a Stargate series on SyFy they don't try to produce another one to replace Universe.

A somewhat ironic comment on a Stargate board. Sci-Fi did pick up SG-1 from Showtime and that move spawned a generally successful franchise for the network. Granted not every canceled show should be picked up by another network or even considered, and the vast majority are not. However, if there's a committed fanbase, a potential for brand identification, etc., why not take the show on?

They canceled Atlantis (a well-liked and consistently rated show) and replaced it with SGU.

Canceled.

They canceled BSG (a critically acclaimed show that struggled for ratings) and replaced it with Caprica.

Canceled.

Even when they manage to do something right, they find a way to screw it up.

They didn't cancel BSG. The creator Ronald D. Moore said it was a mutual agreement between the creators and the studio. They chose to end it on the 4th season so they could end it on a high note rather than drag it out over more seasons and watch it become fodder. Which I think they ended it good despite what some think.

Halfway through the 4th season, they announced they were going to cancel the planned 5th season and wrap up 30 episodes of story in 10 episodes. Which turned out to be a total abortion.

BSG did the right thing in wrapping up after 4 seasons, its a nice self contained story....I really don't see how much longer it really could have gone

but on to Stargate....hey 15 seasons of accumulated stuff is NOT bad at all

I never heard that. I was going by something Ronald D. moore said in one of his commentaries on season 4.

It's really not. And thanks to Netflix I've been rewatching old episodes...it's been so long that they are practically new to me again. :)

I just saw they were on there this weekend, there is a lot of SG-1 I didn't see as I got on the show late, so Ill be watching some here and there

Too bad, I was actually interested in a Stargate show with this one. I doubt Syfy will produce that looks as good as SGU did.

SyFy should seriously consider restarting Mystery Science Theatre and have the show rip on SyFy original movies.

Just for people that don't Syfy doesn't really make all those ****** movies, they just buy the television rights on the cheap and slap on the "original movie" title. SGU was probably the most expensive thing they've done and it shows in the quality.

One thing I really hope happens is a they do the movies and the first one (or two) done are SGU films, just piss off all the fanboys that just wanted more of the same SG-1/SGA tone with this show. That would be great.
