ANYWAY....this is my last one in the Marvel version of this thread. So, that's it for BP.

I've lost a little respect for some of you after this one......:o

Worst thing to happen to either character. :o

To give a comparison, a lot of comic readers I know were pissed off at how Venom was thrown into Spider-Man 3 when he clearly didn't have proper screen time (and rightfully so, 30 seconds of showing a rock fall from the sky and ooze come out of it are a crappy origin for a big budget movie). The problem was the studio threw him in to satisfy the Venom fanboys despite the fact they couldn't give him time with the other stuff they were including, which would be what would happen here. (Granted, the movie sucked for many reasons but that was one valid complaint).

Doing essentially the same with Hank and Jan would be no better.

How would having Hank and Jan in the film be any different from having hawkeye and Black Widow in the film? Both sets of characters would have the same amount of screen time.

Yeah, except Iron Man and the Hulk have both had TWO movies explaining their powers and both had their origins take up a good chunk of their first movies. So your comparison does not work at all.
You're just proving my point even more. If these guys have had two movies dedicated to showing off their powers, one could reasonably assume everyone's already familiar with them, yet the writers of Avengers clearly still felt the need to drop a little dialogue explaining the Hulk's powers, which we saw in the trailer. It doesn't matter who's in the movie; their powers are going to be explained to some extent or another. Even Hawkeye and Black Widow need a bit of explanation. "Hey, why does Hawkeye use bows and arrows instead of guns? What do those things on Black Widow's wrists do? Why are they such super-amazing badasses when everyone else at SHIELD is a stereotypical G-man with a black suit and a gun?" Every character needs some explanation in an ostensibly self-contained movie. Doesn't matter that all these characters have appeared elsewhere. Appealing to the lowest common denominator demands that a little something-something be given on who they are and what their powers are. Just think of them as the movie equivalents of those little boxes we get in team books telling us each team member's name and power set. They're going to be there regardless, and they never take very long, so it's a moot point whether they're used for Hank and Jan or Clint and Natasha or anyone else.

I explained in previous comments (last page) that to new viewers who don't know the characters at all there's an difference between needing to introduce them to characters that have superpowers and those that don't.

And Corp, that's not proving your point. It's completely different giving a recap than it is giving an introduction to brand new characters.

Why? All you have to do is show them using their powers and give however much backstory they're alloted through dialogye. It's the same as Hawkeye and Widow and their gadgets. They're not going into Harkeye's full backstory with flashbacks of him training, they're just going to show him sniping people with arrows and give a few throwaway lines about what he did before joining the team.

As for their appearances in previous movies, Hank could have taken Hawkeye's cameo spot in Thor by being a scientist studying Thor's hammer and Jan could have taken Widow's spot in Iron Man 2 by, well, basically just taking her spot in Iron Man 2, assuming she and Hank work for SHIELD in the cinematic universe. Hell, they could have used her comics backstory as a fasion designer to give her some familiarity with Tony and vice versa that SHIELD would have used to have her spy on him.

Hmm..... well played good sir. Well played.

I withdraw my objection.

Anywho! Anubis generously passed the thread to me, so FEAR FOR THE FUTURE! :cwink:

What do you all think of....

Cloak

(and I hope that's not a repeat. Anubis if you have a complete list of who you've done so far that you could send my way that'd be appreciated).

Nope. I just got a good memory. Your thread now. Means you're gonna have to go back and take note yourself.....I may have to do that for the DC one myself. :(

Cloak freaking rocks!!( but hey! dont you have to have cloak "AND DAGGER!"They are a tag team combo!) hated that crap about they were mutants (everybody and their mom had to be a mutant!)I loved wg when the designer drug cause them to be that way ( still got the spectacular Spider man they debuted in!) cool as name cool ass power!( i loved how when people would come his out darkness vomiting and convulsing) that ^%$# was cool! Hot ass chick that needs to hehe "calm him down!".. that dude rocks!!

Cloak is alright when he's not controlled by Nightmare

Okay, the list is up.

Cloak, I dig his concept. I don't think I've ever really read much with him and his chick in. They were pretty good in Runaways.

It will stick like sticking to "Bruce is no longer the Hulk"?

I like Cloak and Dagger, but I don't think I've ever seen them used well.

Cloak and Dagger have potential, but for some reason have never quite clicked with me.

Very racy when it first came out. But under the radar. They were a "couple" kinda. They got their powers from drugs. Plus the light and dark theme was perfect. Romeo and Juliet with super powers.

Darkforce didn't really take off in the 616 till Cloak came along either. Couple of other people had it, but it wasn't called Darkforce or defined until Cloak came around.

Love me some Cloak and Dagger. The CW should be producing this story weekly.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

I was never too big on Cloak and Dagger. I liked some of their guest appearances in Spider-Man comics way back when but never enough of a fan to follow them regularly.
