I love Venom and Eddie Brock. For me,at least,he's Spidey's top villain.
Not a huge fan at all of Doc Ock...until I saw Spider-man 2 that is. Molina made me love the character.

He was handler greatly in SSM and in sm3 he was really good just not in the movie long enough. He is sm best villain top 5 sm villains.

I don't hate Venom but if we're talking about the comic 616 version of Venom, I don't care for him. IMO, he's simply a one-note villain. Very superficial. There's no real depth to him other than he's supposed to be this darker version of Peter and he never really did anything interesting in the books to make me like him.

I realize he is a huge fan favorite and often gets put into the 'A' list category because of how popular he's become. But I think that has more to do with how he looks rather than his story, per se. And again, that's just my opinion, of course. If Venom is your favorite, cool beans.

Venom's okay. He deserves a spot among the bigger Spider-Man villains based on the threat he brought initially. I feel like most of the backlash against him is due to his extreme popularity in the 90's, which lead to his Lethal Protector days (which diluted his villainy, but sort of improved his character depth), which then lead to an explosion of symbiotes. Had Venom remained the only symbiotic villain, and Brock had remained a bad guy with a twisted sense of honor, I feel like he'd be a better character.

Initially there was a potential threat but that's an issue--it never went anywhere interesting. Not to me anyways. It's like they had to reinvent Venom over again through iterations to try and make him something more than 'one-note' or add depth to the character.

SM3 was not that bad. ASM2 is by far the second best sm movie behind sm2 and not not chessy was less chessy then the other sm movies and harry has goblin was not rushed. I don't understand the hate for asm2 and I never will. There is not a bad sm movie yet. ASM2 and SM2 are the only great sm movies. ASM1 sm3 and sm1 are all just slightly good. Sm 1 is just slightly good has the movie has not aged while and asm1, sm3 and sm1 are all very close when it comes to how good they are.

Personally, I LOVE TASM2. I love the Marc Webb series, going back I think the Raimi films are crap and didn't age well. Tobey Macguire is annoying, Kirsten Dunst is annoying. The villains are OK and JK Simmons was top notch. Yet the villains and Spidey have horrible dialogue. Are they fun goofy movies? Yeah, I guess. Are they great pieces of film? Not exactly

One thing that I know I won't have many people agreeing with me on, is that the 90s Fox Spider-Man show is overrated. It is pretty good, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't an all-time great cartoon along the likes of BTAS, like is often said. The animation wasn't great. The censorship issues were extremely problematic (Spidey can't even throw punches most of the time). And some iconic villains (such as Dr. Octopus) were used poorly. I think much of the love is purely nostalgia. Personally, I think Spectacular Spider-Man is way better.

I agree with you. As a kid I grew up watching the cartoon and loved it. Some years back the show was up on netflix for a while. Then I noticed this show has the WORST pacing. Too much going on all at once in a 25 minute window. Every scene and dialogue felt rushed. I never did finish the series. I stopped at one episode that just summed it all up...

I couldn't even keep count of how many characters there was while watching it. I think this was a huge strength of the Justice League series given almost all of their episodes within the first two seasons before Unlimited were 2 parters, making them roughly 45 minute episodes. This gave the story more room to breathe, more character development and just overall better quality.

I think it is nostalgia that people still like it. I still like it too because it was one of the very first things on Saturday morning to watch for a while. But yeah, the show is over-rated with some dumb crap like the Sinister Six unmasking Spider-Man. "Whaaaa? Peter Parker! Impossible" Even Doc Ock didn't believe it and they all assumed it was a trick.

It is based on a happening in a comic book, Amazing Spider-Man v1 #012:
Spider-Man contracted a 24 hours flu virus, it rendered him powerless, and he went in to save Betty who got kidnapped by Ock because in the previous issue Ock saw Spider-Man caring for Betty.
Seeing how weak Spidey is in their first fight in issue 12, Ock couldn't believe he was fighting Spider-Man, and unmasked him to see Peter Parker.
The idea is not bad, but I wonder which execution is funnier in Spider-Man having his powers on pause.

Most of these folks probably already know:

I didn't like Andrew Garfield as Peter/Spider-Man. (He wasn't gawd awful,in fairness,but he left much to be desired)

Tobey Maguire is to Spidey what Reeve is to Superman (As of now at least,I still see him as the definitive portrayal)

TASM is the worst Spider-Man movie. EVER.

TASM 2 was actually pretty watchable. At least decent,unlike TASM.

I like SM3 (arguably even more than SM2)

Spider-Man is the best Spider-Man movie.

I like Kirsten Dunst as MJ

Spider-Man TAS (90's) was the best animated version of Spidey,followed closely by Spider-Man & his amazing friends

Spectacular Spider-Man is very overrated (don't get me wrong,it's GOOD,but hardly the flawless work some rate it to be)

Ultimate Spider-Man is decent. Certainly the most watchable of the current crop of Disney toons.

I really dont care if we ever see Miles Morales in a movie. I don't begrudge people who like the character,but Peter Parker is all the Spider-Man I need.

I prefer Aunt May not knowing Peter is Spidey (I don't know if that's truly unpopular,but a lot of times people act like "She must know" in the movies,and I'm always relieved when they're proved wrong.t

I prefer Peter unmarried. Now,this comes with an asterisk. * I don't like what they did with One More Day (or whatever it was called,I was pretty much out of comics by then) If they had Peter Married,it's best to leave it that way.(and as an MJ fan,I'm glad he married the right girl.t But, I felt they dropped the 'Regular guy" routine that Peter is supposed to be. (I mean,I can't really relate to a guy that comes home to a supermodel wearing lingerie ever night.) So I felt the book lost something at that point.

I also don't really like this contention of MJ being seen as an overly glamorous goddess in the movies.She should be beautiful,of course,but not looking like a swimsuit model.

Spectacular is not perfect, but it's the closest we got to a perfect adaption.

Ultimate Spider-Man is decent. Certainly the most watchable of the current crop of Disney toons.

It's easily more preferable than the Hulk series, I wanted to love that show more cause it has Rick Jones, but I don't like his A-Bomb status if he can't or won't morph back.

IMO, Kirsten was never the problem, although I felt she wasn't really giving it her 'all' especially in SM3. But then most of the regular cast didn't make an impression on me in that regard either for SM3 so....However, for MJ, it was how they wrote her character that was not appealing.

You probably already know that I don't agree with you on this however all the toons you mentioned are in my top three. TSSM, followed by the 90's, then SM&friends. IMO, TSSM has earned every bit of praise it has received. Can another show come along and be better? Of course, and I hope that happens. I always want things to improve. Again, imo, TSSM will still be talked about in 20 years as being a defining moment for the webhead.

It's a coin toss, really. Some episodes are ok and others are just plain terrible to the point where I need to take a break watching them. If we're talking about Disney toons, I'd easily take SW Rebels or Gravity Falls over USM.

Yes, but MJ has a wonderful personality Maybe that will show up in one of the movies, one of these days.

1. Venom is the most overrated character in comics. If you like Venom, that's cool. I just always found characters like him more "style over substance". I thought the only version that handled both Brock and the Venom character effectively was Spectacular Spider-Man.

2. Spider-Man should not be the strongest guy ever. The whole appeal of Spidey, in my eyes at least, was he is the underdog. When you make him buff or almost as strong as the Hulk, you have lost me.

3. Aunt May's should have died a long time ago. I like her but she should have never came back from the dead. Even though JMS's stories were great with her.

4. I have always hated the "Ultimate Spider-Man" comic since its inception. Hulk Goblin, MJ having some of Gwen's personality and even Debra Whitman's, etc. just did not work with me. Change for the sake of change
